It's notable that Yuu has either initiated or consciously created the conditions for some (although not all) of the significant skinship moments in the manga so far. The "ambush first kiss" and the post-sports-festival shed scene are the main exceptions, but that second one makes me think that "going all the way" (now I feel like I'm 12) is another line that Yuu (and probably also Touko) would be unwilling to cross until the relationship reset we've all been predicting takes place.
But again if the relationship reset takes place in the context of a GBS, or vice versa, all the better.
Huh, really? They have kissed 5 times I think, but the only ones that were reciprocated were in chapter 16 (even if Yuu was just going along at first, that french kiss sure made her gay) and in chapter 22. I know that Yuu agreed in chapter 6 but she didn't feel attraction and just did it out of curiosity. Or did she feel desire? That comment about Touko's eyelashes and the way she was squeezing Touko somehow parallel the scene in chapter 16.
Anyway, I guess people think best kiss was in chapter 16 but for me it's chapter 22 :^)
What if they actually do it before resolving their issues? I can totally see Touko going for that given that she's pretty horny, and Yuu wanted to touch Touko in ch. 20, and in general volume 5 has shown Yuu acting on her desires more and more so far.
Not sure if I'd like that though. After they become a couple would be more romantic

When Yuu saw Touko relying on Sayaka instead of her
That incident at the fireworks did make Yuu feel uneasy. However, Touko's initial impulse was to talk to Yuu, but she didn't want to impose emotionally on her--"to use up all her sweetness." (That's not what would happen, of course, but Touko isn't aware of that yet.) And Sayaka brought up the subject to Touko, not the other way around.
But Yuu knew nothing about that. All she saw was Sayaka being the one by Touko's side. Then the same thing happened next chapter with the bottles of water. At least all of that lead to Yuu holding Touko in her bed.

I want a bitchfight. Nothing too big or stupidly dramatic though.
do you think Yuu will admit her feelings (at least to herself) naturally
I think the newly written sex scene between the amnesiac patient and the nurse at the end of the play will be all the catalyst anybody needs to put their emotional cards on the table.
It is a sex scene, right?
If only on the phone - remember Yuu was promised lots of new lines to remember
No doubts Sayaka is going to be seriously pissed off about the updated script in public and will afterwards attack Yuu in private. And of course Sayaka will call Yuu a rival. Most definitely Yuu is going to deny everything including any possible feelings towards Touko. Obviously Sayaka will then kiss/confess to Touko in front of Yuu. Naturally Touko is going to get confused, especially after the play will get her brains messed up enough. Of course it's the jealousy and possessiveness of Yuu that will make her question the nature of her feelings towards Touko. Of course it's going to end happily establishing Touko x Yuu as canon.
That doesn't sound like Nakatani's writing at all but I'd totally read a fic about that.

if only ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
since people are mentioning a possible confession from Yuu, do you think Yuu will admit her feelings (at least to herself) naturally or some big cluster fuck will be necessary in order to make that happen? personally I think the latter is more likely
No idea how Sayaka will affect things. She loves a Touko which isn't real. I hope she finds a way to break out of her stasis too.
Sayaka is very perceptive so she'll probably get suspicious that Yuu is up to something when Koyomi tells everyone about the revised script. I imagine that she might confront Yuu before Touko does & maybe even start getting protective of Touko? & then we'll get to witness the catfight of the century. Maybe.
Don't forget that Yuu and Touko have matching phone pendants too, but maybe they won't use them at school to avoid suspicions.
Bitchfight between Yuu and Sayaka would be awesome, all that tension in chapter 22...let it explode

I wasn't expecting to enjoy a Koyomi chapter so much but it ended up being surprisingly gay.
It actually was the opposite, Koyomi had a crush on the author because she thought she was a man. After discovering it's a woman her crush disappered but she realised the person behind the books is the same, and that her admiration for them would never vanish regardless of gender. At the she found a new motivation thanks to that.
Now I want a semi-sequel to this centered on Koyomi becoming an author and having an age-gap romance with Renma-sensei.
This would be great, not gonna happen sadly.

The fact that it's not a completely hopeless crush doesn't really change the fact that it fits right into Nakatani's favourite theme, that being quiet one-sided longing.
Shit don't say that, it makes me feel like bloom into you will end with Yuu staring sadly at Touko from a distance after she dumps Yuu for loving her ;7;
Also Saki is brunette Sayaka

So far this manga has remained realistic and doesn't rely on dumb or forced drama, so it's not easy to know what'll happen in a long term.
Kaoru and the brother have their problems like any other recently married couple but it's clear they love each other a lot. The husband is a really nice guy too so killing him would be cheap as fuck. And Kaoru just considers Uta like a little sister. Nothing suggests she views her in a romantic light at all, so I'm curious about how the author will make Kaoru x Uta the endgame couple (if they're meant to be the endgame at all) without forcing it.
Uta x Kuro doesn't seem likely either. Kuro doesn't look interested in Uta and it's not even stated if she's lesbian. I hope she remains best friends with Uta and nothing else though, making every girl a lesbian would take the realistic feel of this manga. And the best friend endgame is cliche.
The new girl clearly likes Kuro. I don't think the author just added her for nothing. It's likely that Uta and her will end up hooking up somehow, but whether they'll be the endgame or not is uncertain. And author mentioned there will be development between Uta and Kaoru.
I'm enjoying this but I feel it lacks something. Like an "exciting" feeling since everything is quiet. Hopefully some drama will stir up but without reaching NTR level of drama.

^ Dunno how image upload works around here. Thank you for reminding me that I have a Pixiv page I never use lol
I think you need to do a request here, or you could ask a mod to help you. It's a beautiful fanart, so more people should see it!

I reckon if they were to start living together, they'd own a cat (Touko is a cat lover, obv) & a dog or several of them.
Decided to make a fanart out of this.
That's the sweetest fanart of Touko and Yuu I've seen. Have you thought about uploading it here? i mean in the main page not in the comments section. And also on pixiv or pages like that
Not really relevant but I wanted to pinpoint that in that train scene Yuu is thinking "It's not bad if she stays asleep like this". That's the more literal translation, 4s added some lines and while the meaning is the same, the literal translation could give a different feeling just a bit.
There's a part of me thinking there's a possibility that Yuu might slip & accidentally confess before Touko is ready to accept her feelings. & yeah, Touko would have to do something big to trigger the pent up frustration in Yuu (maybe Touko finds out about the revised script & strongly rejects it) & cause her to breakdown, slip out the confession, & possibly cry (ch 19 definitely suggests that this'll happen).
Yeah like I mentioned I'm curious about the build up that'll make Yuu admits her feelings finally. It can be done in many ways really. Like you said Touko could do something to break her and admit her feelings (to herself, I'm sure she won't inmediately confess after admitting it). Or it could be in a natural way, I mean she openly said to herself things like she wants to call Touko by her name, became frustrated about Touko being unfair, admitted she is flustered around her and said she wanted to touch her during the camp, so after Touko develops a normal view about love Yuu could just say to herself in a kind of casual way she is in love instead of having a huge breakdown/big realisation moment. Or it could be due to Sayaka making her really jealous by doing something (I wouldn't like this one very much bc cliches, but I wouldn't strongly hate it either). Or other ways Nakatani could come up with, we'll see. All I know it'll be be something big for readers :b

She knows the flapjack octopus exists. I think that's a big hint already.
Yeah this. It's very nice detail she decided to bring Touko to a place she really enjoys instead of going to more generic places like say movies or so on

@Scarlet128 Good analysis on Yuu there & I agree.
This chap kinda brought a question to my mind, but how do you guys think Yuu will react when she confesses? Or how do you think her confession will play out if it happens?
Yuu has been quite cute regarding Touko during volume 4 and now 5.
Despite Yuu keeping her cool around Touko or complaining about her, one of her sweetest scenes was when she was happily talking to Touko on the phone. Just think about it, she could show her feelings (and even admit she is nervous around her) because Touko wasn't watching her, just listening to her voice which sounded like Yuu was indifferent to her. Chapter 19 showed Yuu wanted to talk to Touko, yet when they see each other again in chapter 20 Yuu acts cool and says it's only been 10 days with a serious face.
She was also really sweet in chapter 13 until Touko scared her. And chapter 22 and 24 are the best so far, Yuu is expressing her feelings more. Makes me curious how Yuu would act towards Touko if she was allowed to fall in love like a normal person. The scenes I mentioned suggest she would be a sweet girlfriend. So I think her confessing after coming to terms with her feelings and Touko resolving her issues would be a cute moment, like some very sweet confession, but not extremely sugarish like some shoujo manga. That is, if she is the one who confesses first, maybe Touko could do it (properly this time) so Yuu would just say she loves her back. But still I think it will be a sweet scene.
I'm more looking forward to the moment she finally admits she is in love tho. I'm sure she'll cry, I mean Nakatani didn't make the whole scene where Natsuki compares Touko and softball for nothing. Or if she doesn't cry at least she could break down, but seeing how Yuu is happy right now and also working hard on the play makes me doubt this idea a bit. Touko would have to do something big that'll cause Yuu to break down and admit her feelings I guess.

I read the whole story more than once and saying Yuu at the beginning was a girl who just "does what everyone ask her to do" is not entirely right. She is a kind girl, no doubt about it, but she's not a total selfless soul who would put any person's desires over her own.
Someone refresh my memory, but I haven't see Yuu doing exactly this. She read Koyomi's novel mainly because she is her friend and also she enjoys reading. She joined softball club because Natsuki is her friend too, and while it wasn't stated, I think Yuu was curious and interested about that sport, but obviously not passionate at all, something that Natsuki even pointed (she did not even care whether they won or lost a match, while her teammates cried). But Yuu still remained a regular because it's a character trait that when she decides to do something she'll work hard and take her job seriously even if she doesn't care about the tasks she is doing.
My point is, Yuu can agree to do things other ask for her, but if it something she doesn't like at all she won't do it. The reason why Yuu agrees is out of kindness and also out of a lack of interests of her own. Touko is the example of this.
Yuu's relationship with her was complex before she fell for her. She refused to be her election manager because she hates being in front of people. Touko basically forced her to do it since she insisted too much and then Sayaka asked her too which made Yuu finally agree. She also refused to do the play and even tried to stop it from happening. But everyone else in the student council wanted to do it, even Maki who was not excited about it told her it was something Sayaka and Touko have planned to do for a long time. At the end, Yuu was kind of forced again to accept (that is, until chapter ten, she agreed to do the play then because she wanted to keep her relationship with Touko and to support her).
So I would call Yuu "someone who agrees to do tasks she doesn't mind when is asked to do them". That fits her better since she has a strong personality and will speak against what she doesn't want to do.
The one only thing she doesn't speak against is regarding Touko asking her not to fall for her. At least not directly, but she complains about it in her thoughts like during chapter 18, or to her friend in chapter 19. She can't speak against it directly to Touko because she doesn't want to lose her relationship. Even her changing the play is a indirect and subtle way of helping her, instead of confront her directly. Although I do agree doing that is a risk Yuu is taking, but she has the determination to make her plan work, she's a stubborn girl.

I feel like there isn't enough praise for this, though it does get a lot, even still.
It's just superb, a cut above the rest.
Hope Natakani gets to start writing another story as soon as this is over.
It doesn't get enough praise on the West. But in Japan it is the most popular yuri manga. Even then it still deserves more people reading other than yuri fans, and being published on Dengeki sure helps. A good anime adaptation would really help a lot.
Man this chapter was cute af but the scene when they're leaving could be some dark foreshadowing or something
The train scene is p much a parallel to chap 13, so I see it more as a positive thing. Further shows that Yuu is now very resolved to help Touko rather than be comfortable w/ the status quo like before.
Rlly love how Nakatani handles the end of the date
Touko: I wish this will never end
Yuu: It's... the exit
Me: Muh kokoroYou can interpret this as some dark foreshadowing, but for now, I'll just appreciate it as a really nice depiction of the lingering emotion both feel towards the date.
Spoiler alert, I don't know how to use tags here ,,
Well there's also the" It's not bad if she stays asleep like this"at the end and the next thing that happens is that they have to leave because they arrived to their station. Even the line "it can't stay like this" says it. These implications can be either negative or positive, but the thing it foreshadows is that their current relationship will change.
I agree that Yuu did seem disappointed when she saw the exit sign though. But this can have a symbolic meaning as well.
Btw, is it just me or they gave each other phone pendants? ;w;

But she also needs to tell her about the new ending to the play, so... she does kind of have an ulterior motive this time. (unless she doesn't talk about the play at all...)
I don't think she has the intention of letting Touko knows she wants to change the ending. After the new script is finished I think Yuu will make Koyomi say she rewrote it on her own, otherwise Touko may suspect Yuu has fallen for her. But I could be wrong.
2: Chapter 22 when Yuu, once again, asked Touko to walk home with her, then, when Touko was going to part ways, invited her to hang out at her house for a little while because, "If we say goodbye now, it'll probably be a few days until we see each other again. I don't want that."
This one, most likely, will end up being the most important one, since it seems to be leading to what will be considered a date.
Well all those times were because of studying or confrontation. I think 22 would be the first time Yuu took the iniciative and asked her to spend time with her. Sure she did it because she was worried about Touko and wanted to comfort her, but it was also motivated by her jealousy towards Sayaka and also for what you mentioned that is wanting to spend some time alone with her due to Sayaka being next to them all the time during the camp. But I agree, this chapter is more serious because it's a formal date.
