The way she caressed the arrow..... she loves her so...

If this were a different series all sorts of things would be going on with the arrows

I'm confused about why they didn't just have Ichika take it out through the barrier. Why bother wandering around trying to find strangers to do it and potentially complicating things?

Place your bets folks, are their confessions gonna get interrupted by something?

They'll go Full Symphogear and end the series at the exact last possible moment before they confess

"predator" here definitely has different vibes in English, though it's possible the same applied for the Japanese title. She's carnivorous (so to speak) but that doesn't necessarily mean that something Horrible was going to happen here, it's more like she just stopped going on the offensive because she wasn't prepared to be acknowledged like that. Which is incredibly cute

You did a really great job cleaning the scans for this chapter and the typesetting is artful and well-considered, great job uploader

There are plenty of other yuri (or BL) manga using this general premise out there, but this is the first time I've seen one that feels so creepy. Because of Fuwa's complete lack of boundaries the overall plot of this series could be transplanted directly into homophobic Jack Chick religious propaganda that conservative parents make their daughter read to teach her about how makeup and handbags will lead you down the path to sin. The difference between this and something like "even if it was just once, I regret it" is night and day.

Hopefully I'm wrong but I get the distinct impression that next chapter we'll have adult women at the bar hitting on high schoolers (or worse) as a way to drive Marika into Fuwa's arms. In any other series I'd go "maybe the blatant problems with this relationship will be explored" but there's not the slightest hint of self-awareness so far. The art and moment-to-moment writing in this series are pretty good and the characters are likeable so it's frustrating that the framing and plot are so messed up.

It's a bit confusing that If You Could See Love and this series are written by the same person. That futaribeya reference in ch2 seems to be because Yukiko did the character designs, so I guess maybe she's involved in writing this series too? Hopefully not.

The latest episode of the anime adapts this beach arc in one go and oddly I think it managed to equal the manga or even surpass it for this arc, aside from the fact that it's confusing because they shifted the arcs around. They omitted some cool details (like the conversation with the cab driver) but the general spookiness and malice were all there and the tension was just right. Really just has me going "what the hell happened with those other episodes", though, and now that it's caught up I have no idea what to expect in the future (other than perhaps some of the content they skipped over)

Looking forward to seeing where the manga goes, too. I guess if I was reading the LNs I'd know what's next... other than yuri

I feel like this arc amps up the malice pretty dramatically compared to where it's been so far. The soldiers were in constant danger but until this point it's never really felt like the Otherside and its inhabitants were paying attention to Sorawo or Toriko as single existences, it's just a Dangerous Place. But now suddenly it seems to care about them, which is interesting, especially since they seem to have arrived basically at random.

It's nice to have this series's generally inoffensive and kind (so far) MC compared to some of the other series we've seen, like that Drag Club series's two absolutely horrible leads. Could do without the nonstop Gay Panic but maybe he'll get over it

Reverse traps are amazing and sadly underrated. I hope this manga manages to do them justice

There are terms you can use like "crossdressing girl" or "tomboy" that don't have the cultural baggage and generally harmful association of that one

Real powerful "ah, oh, please don't be mad at me" vibes from the author in this chapter. Hard to decide whether this is just an attempt at clarifying the ending they had in mind from the beginning or if this is a change to try and satisfy people...

Other people in this thread are right that Risako showing up really complicates this and seems like a mistake. Didn't she straight-up confess to Kaoru earlier on in the series at least once and the author never resolved it?

The anime is good so far but it's skipping a bunch of stuff so I think even if you start there, you'll want to make time for the manga.

Was never super into this one, but that's mostly because ryuugasaki was an incredibly irritating narcissist. The rest of the cast had some fun characters I enjoyed seeing on the page. I was kind of hoping that the developments from the last chapter or two might teach the main couple something (honestly I felt like this whole time ushiwaka was mostly in the right and was learning to be honest instead of mean), but then at the end the author just doubles down on the worst aspects of the main couple and their relationships. Blech. After this and Asterism I wonder what the author's deal is...

We've seen them before in a couple previous chapters, I think? That or sketches on the author's twitter

Yeah, the use of "he", was entirely a translation thing. The official english translation handles this better, and tbh is kinda a bit better in general, not to hate on hachimitsu, they do great work, but in this instance, the official translation beats it out.

Edit: Hachimitsu did stop using he/him as well though, so I don't really know where this person is coming from saying everyone misgenders Mogumo.

I think this is ultimately just another case where the translators had to wing it and once it was clear that they got it wrong, they correct it. Not uncommon in fan TL - the popular fan translation of Dangan Ronpa messed this up since they had no way to know (because it was a plot twist). Hachimitsu is pretty thoughtful about this in general when they do have enough information

The official TL will often have access to notes from the author so they were able to get it right - that's another upside to official translations even if the scans sometimes do a better job with tone or nuance.

It's a tricky balance though. Sometimes misgendering the character is an accurate representation of the dialogue even if it's uncomfortable to read.

Speaking of uncomfortable to read... as a big fan of this series I feel like the last two chapters have been a bit too much. I kind of understand what the author is going for here but I hope this doesn't become the new tone of the series from here forward, it's kind of dropping a bunch of different familial and personal issues on the reader at once along with sensitive issues like suicide and abuse. It feels like it would've been better to spread it across a couple more chapters, though they at least introduced the eating disorder stuff more slowly.

IMO Bokura no Hentai is a good example of dropping these themes on the reader a bit more slowly and incrementally, though the sexual assault themes still kind of slap you in the face with little warning. I do think fukaboku is doing a very good job of making each cast member distinct and relatable, better than most recent series in the genre.

Not to mention even if these two ARE in a relationship IRL (X - doubt) IRL shipping is kinda creepy and obsessive

Does it really count as IRL shipping if they released a yuri drama CD together? Even if it's a branding exercise it's not like it's their fans leaping really far to a creepy conclusion

hachishaku-sama needs more appearances in yuri manga

@myrrhmidon Talulah is Ch'en's sister though no???

That's the best part XD

As mentioned tho, "only" stepsisters

Let's be real, people here love incest just as much - if not more! - than non-incest ships.

There was a 'favorite ships' poll in the CN community a while back and that pairing was #20 out of like 60 ones that ranked
