On one hand, I'm glad releases keep being fast, on the other, they are using magazine raws which are so much smaller.

Sweets are serious business, enough to destroy and re-make the world, so that people can keep enjoying them.

In my opinion, becoming a full couple in the middle of a story actually means more danger for the side characters in a straight-up ecchi romcom. Since "will they-won't they" is no longer applied to them, authors often would write them out, or at least severely reduce their panelspace.
Now, if it was a romance drama, side characters becoming a couple would most likely guarantee their longevity, since they'd become a "beta couple" and play a mentor role for the "prime couple". They could even get whole plot arcs to themselves.

Kind of less and kind of more. They do get to spend quite some time as happy family, but there's also this "defending the world from forces of Evil and Chaos", which means the focus is sometimes on the grand plot. So there're some higher stakes and some sharper drama, which leads to ep 49 being, in my opinion, one of the most emotional and touching finales in Precure history.

Many people say now: "Oh, I remember this wonderful series that got me into yuri!". But 10 years ago when it was ongoing, people screamed: "MORINAGA!" after every chapter release, because of drama and cliffhangers. Of course, it were largely overreactions, since people wanted more of that manga quicker. Girl Friends being one of "Big Three of Yuri" helped hype it up too.(Other two were Aoi Hana and Sasameki Koto).

Feels like the princess isn't really appreciating her own attraction to girls, so she aims to make the girl not come on to her any more. Thus the crude handling.
