I think it's cute as well. I usually get annoyed with Student-Teacher yuri that mostly avoid the implications of such a relationship, but that much angst would ruin the tone of this oneshot.

Pretty cute and funny. It's especially funny reading it as a yuri fan because the dark-haired girl's name is Yuri, so lines like 'It's Yuri. I'm not the only fan' makes me go, 'yep, that's usually how it is. Welcome to the fandom, light-haired girl!'

Cute, cute cute! I found the use of two tomboys refreshing, and their relationship was interesting. I've been reading so much yuri with messed up relationships lately that it's nice to finally read a purely cute yuri manga.

Oh boy, yuri fans and their stupid paranoid victimization routine. Whenever there's any ambiguity about a character's sexual orientation, she must be straight. Whenever a guy shows up for 2 panels, it's going to be het. Whenever the ending is left open, it's BAD END.

There's nothing to indicate that girl's straight. The massive blush and hyper-awareness at the end hints at the exact opposite. And it's a oneshot. Finishing the story in your head however you like is kind of the point of a lot of them.

I agree. Do some yuri fans forget that bisexuality exists? I mean, the bisexual tag exists, but it seems that it only applies when there's cheating involved (ugh!). Where's the non-cheating yuri manga with bi characters? They don't have to like a guy at the same time. I like the idea of a girl falling in love with another girl for the first time and trying to make sense of it given her previous attraction to guys. Are there any good manga that handle this topic fully rather than ignoring the character's struggle? I'd love some recs, and I don't mind oneshots.

I get why some people get paranoid about yuri, though. Yuri has a history of tragic endings when a character dies/marries a guy, as well as moe series that hint at same-gender female romance but eventually shy away from it and act like the characters simply have a romantic two-girl friendship.

Cute and funny, but yeah, I'd love some reciprocation in the manga artist girl's feelings.

The stealing of kisses (even for a good cause) was not good but the smoker's reaction afterwards was hilarious.

I can't decide if the relationship is sweet (such as the panel when they sleep next to each other) or messed up (such as the protagonist's hatred of the witch who took her life away). Either way it's an interesting read with good art and a fascinating setting. The lore was quite intriguing. Overall I liked it.

Cute, but needs more development. It would have been nice to see their struggled in high school with keeping their feelings and their hope that the other will remember them. We could have learned more about these characters.

A well-written story with nice art. I was considering not reading this because of the age difference, and it is weird that the protagonist had feelings for the girl, but at least they waited. It would be interesting for a story like this to go into the implications. They briefly touched upon it but let's face it- it's still pretty creepy to be with someone you saw when you were an adult and they were a kid, curse or no curse. I may have been less tense about the story if the protagonist had no feelings for the girl but gained feelings when she saw her as an adult (a la my interpretation of USUK from Hetalia), but as it stands it's an interesting tale.

So adorable! I was in the mood for some crossdressing yuri and I found this manga, which is so heartwarming that it can turn a fridge into the devil's lair!

I thought it was cute. Unrealistic, but cute,

Really cute. I loved the love interest, though she seemed almost too perfect. Then again, she seems to apologise a lot and hides her true emotions, and those could be seen as flaws. It was cliche shoujo, complete with a love interest who looked and behaved like a male love interest in a het shoujo manga, but I still liked it.

It's predictable yes, but cute. The ending was a bit rushed, though. For one thing, the 'straight' girl just slept with a woman without us seeing the mental gymnastics she would have to go through to allow herself to love another woman. If a lesbian kissed a girl who's only liked guys before, she probably wouldn't just suddenly throw her identity out the window without some serious thought. In addition, I understand why people would see the other woman is taking advantage of her sadness. It's not enough to put her in 'rapist' or even 'creepy' territory, but it's something to be aware of.

Interesting one-shot with gorgeous colour art at the beginning. Is it just me or is there something dark about their relationship? Perhaps I think that because the long-haired girl didn't want to talk to the other girl at first. I think this deserves the drama tag, if not the aaaaaangst tag (though that might be a bit much.)

This is cool. It felt realistic and was really interesting. I think it should have the non-moe art tag. By the way, how do you include tags in comments? I've seen a few people do it.

Ehehe, so cute. Art is nice, but the faces look odd, might just be me.

Well, this artist seems to specialise in BL manga, so perhaps she's more used to drawing make faces. I thought I recognised the art style so I looke up and was shocked. I had no idea Minami Haruka drew Yuri too.

This manga is quite cute.

God I love this series! I don't want to clog up the discussion with my thoughts, so here's my review: http://theyaoiyurialliance.tumblr.com/post/131798573150/hanjuku-joshi-review

The...relatability.... it's... too much! I love this oneshot. The ending makes me so happy! I wish my feelings were reciprocated for once. The annoying thing about some aaaaaangst oneshots is that they become twisted (such as having the angsting girl become horrible) or have unhappy endings. This handled its tone perfectly.

I'm torn on this series. The art is cute and the jokes are often funny, but Ren seems a little... abusive. I mean, her stalking and jealousy are made fun of, but we as readers are supposed to want these two to be together. I like both characters and the yuri fan within me likes the idea of these two opposites finding love with each other, but Ren's treatment of her ex when they were still together seems troubling. I hope that some character development will lessen her abusive behaviour, because I do think the serious romantic moments between Ren and Nako are adorable.

EDIT: I read the rest on another website and I now love this series! Ren's jealous tendencies lessen over time (she's even able to get along with Nako's friend) and though she still uses surveillance, it's to see Nako's smile rather than to check that she's not getting close to anyone else. The ending is sweet and the characters are developed. The portrayal of the transgender character is also excellent, though I'm not sure how much of that is due to the translation.
