I feel like an ideal adaptation of this would be to just go up to the end of volume 3, spending a little more focus on adapting that material while working in some details from later volumes and filling the rest with original content. Alas, animes are a committee-driven thing and since this is a music-themed series, the records company involved likely played a part in pushing for the anime to cover both arcs so they could promote more of their artists.
The fact we get next to zero KaoMari moments stings just as much.

Annoyingly it looks like the anime, in trying to fit Shiho's arc into the cour, has skipped over the whole YoriHima summer festival arc (chapters 30-32), so Ichijinsha's put out a voiced comic instead. No subtitles, but you can easily read along to the scanlation.

That confusion at the end made no sense, how would one mistake have my way with your body with making you a maid uniform? That was waaaay too big a stretch just to deliver the usual joke, I could have take it if maybe she mistook it with giving her a massage or something, but that just made no sense.

yeah I just assumed after reading this that it's something impossible or very hard to translate, it was very weird

For clarity, the original Japanese was おじょうさまのカラダあたしの自由にさせて?

The manga is literally called "the role of the femme-fatale" are we sure "villainess" isn't supposed to be translated as "femme fatale"? Especially since "Villainess" is a generic evil person whereas "femme fatale" is specifically associated with seduction, which is the only angle I can see as to why she was given the role because of her questionnaire answer.

I know that villainess yuri has become something of a genre in recent times, and it's one that I quite enjoy myself, but I don't think the term should be misused just to be fit into the genre if that's why it was done.

The actual word in the raws is 悪女 (akujo) - "wicked woman" if you go strictly by a dictionary (which is not the end all be all of translation, word for word translations are awful). Given that the "wicked stepmother" is a prototypical villainess, villainess seems perfect here.

Though yes the title uses 魔性の乙女 and from what I see 魔性の女 is often translated as "femme fatale", yes. But that's not the word in the text.

To clarify, the term for the typical otome game villainess is 悪役令嬢 (akuyaku reijou, lit. "daughter of a rich family playing the bad guy role"), so it's a little different from that, but admittedly the context is hard to pin down from the sole chapter that's available, since we don't yet know how she's supposed to fulfil her role outside of that future glimpse we get at the start.

Is this Yuri?

Well she's being told to find a lover at an all-girls' school, so yeah, most likely. Uploader must've just forgotten the tag since it has GL tag over on MD.

Just to say there'll likely be a delay on new chapters until Kadokawa sorts out its recent cyberattack situation, which they say could take at least a month. (Chapter 15 has been translated, but the typesetter wasn't able to get the RAWs from Niconico before it went down.)

So in Japanese, how are the words Hijacking and Hitchhiking pronounced so that Tama-chan got it wrong?

They're both pronounced in English/katakana (ie. haijakku and hicchuhaiku)

And also the word "hip" or ヒップ transliterated from English is used to mean the buttocks sometimes, so that whole area of the body is very difficult (for me anyway) to understand when translating from English to Japanese and vice versa. I'm actually still unsure from the context if the salacious senpai meant that Ruka's butt was her weak spot, or her hips or her waist....?

It's admittedly tricky to get across in English in a way that gets across Suuna's misunderstanding, since "weak lower back" doesn't sound sexy and "hip pain" sounds a bit stilted.

This is probably the most detailed (and lewd) 4koma I've ever seen. I also have the same question, how did "weak hips" turn into "back pain" lmao

The specific term is 腰, which can mean either lower back, waist, or hips. It's just that some of those terms apply better to certain contexts than others.

Wait... is that Shion as a tan chainsaw gyaru ?!

I believe that's meant to be green when in color.

Are you even allowed to add community notes to your own tweets? (Not that I don't suspect Momo of having like 5 other alts to do that with instead.)

About EP2: It appears that since Vol.1 of the manga released, LINE added a feature to add friends via scanning a QR Code, the anime got changed to show this instead since supposedly the feature to "put the phones together" became obsolete? It's fun to see the anime change to keep up with what's happening IRL.
Also, that QR Code on Yori's phone does work, it shows a text in Japanese that says "Thank you for watching Whisper Me a Love Song!" if you scan it.

RIP the Shakey Shake

I heard that Seto Asami (Yori's VA) is not the one who sings SSGIRLS' songs. If that's true, then why doesn't the studio just let Asami sing instead of hiring more people (or hire a VA who can both voice and sing, many VAs meet those two conditions).

Might be the records company on the production committee wanting to promote their artist, or maybe there were some other circumstances meaning Asami couldn't do the singing parts.
For clarification, the singing voice for SSGIRLS (or SSGILRS as it is hilariously mispelled in ep1's credits) is Kana Sasakura (so maybe they chose her for the "sasayaku" wordplay).

Why is the title of the manga "Whispering YOU a Love Song", but in the anime it becomes "Whispering ME a Love Song"?

JP manga: Translates Japanese title to "Whispering You a Love Song".
Kodansha: Licenses manga in English as "Whisper Me a Love Song".
Anime: Uses licensed English title cos international consistency.

Can we now add the Age gap tag? Mirai clearly comes from the future, meaning she's 100 years older than Kako

Being from a different era is not the same as having an age gap, Mirai hasn't been alive for those 100 years. they're presumably (about) the same age.

Time gap?

They did sing "Baby It's Cold Outside" that one time. "My sister will be suspcicious" was an understatement.

pet peeve: someone translates スタイル as "style"

That... didn't happen this chapter?
For clarification: The use of "style" on p3 is Suuna pointing out that the clothes in the store doesn't seem to be what Ruka would wear. The actual use of スタイル on the next page is correctly translated as "figure".
