Now that I think about it a little more, even this revelation doesn't really clear things up, since we've already seen this, so it's entirely possible that grandma and her maid were similarly split up through an illusion, not the maid being the monster herself. Can't rule out any theories at this point, though.

If she's right about Konno's reasons for liking anything so far, the fireworks and their time together may indeed be bringing about a positive change in her. The sparklers falling at the same time are usually seen as a good omen as well.

Regardless of everything else, this will always remain one of the greatest manga ever just for giving us this.

Would have preferred a more decisive ending, but this is fine as well. At least the author was able to come back and give it an ending at all, and taking a step ahead to show us where their lives would go from here may have well been a better end than a rushed conclusion.

These idiots... Can't save themselves even with all the help they were given. Luckily their guardian angel was smarter than that. :D
