One thing I hate about France's manga publishing is that they cannot use their own translated title and overuse English titles.

Yes! That's the thing that really irritates me in our French editions. It's one thing when it's the original title, but when I see "Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso" coming out as "Your Lie in April" or "Kimi no Iru Machi" as "A Town Where You Live", I just... ugh. I don't even see the point: do they seriously think those titles are more evocative to a French reader than "Le Mensonge d'avril" or "Là où tu vis"?

Regarding the translations, it really depends on the editors. Ki-Oon does gorgeous editions and very good translations, but they do have this annoying tendency to replace last names by first names (and yes, to use English titles). Thankfully it's usually in series where first/last name basis doesn't really affect character development, but if they did it in a series like Jitsu wa Watashi wa, I'd be pissed. But they're actually in the minority, most editors keep the original basis − after all, it's not hard for a Western reader to understand that a first-name basis indicates closer proximity. Which is not really the case with Japanese honorifics if you're not familiar with them.

For that matter, I also can't understand why we (and the Japanese themselves!) invert the Japanese naming order, even though we don't do that for Chinese or Korean names.

Anyway, yeah Faust, I guess Citrus isn't the only one, but they're generally pretty hard to find. Especially compared to the shitton of yaoi on the shelves.

I can't believe it's already licenced in the US, with only 2 volumes out…

Here in France the only yuri stuff we got licenced is Citrus. =[

^^ It depends how it's done. In AnoKiss it works (well, more or less depending on who you ask) because that's just how the story is built − parallel, self-contained character arcs with the two "main characters" serving as a sort of connecting thread between them − and it takes this direction very early on.

In a story that has kept a firm focus on the two protagonists like YagaKimi, that would feel strange indeed. But again I don't think it will be the case. At most, the teach' will serve as an observer/advisor at some point. Nakatani seems to know what she's doing, so I'm not too worried.

Maybe Nakatani wanted you to notice. Sayaka sure did.

A bit disapointed that the teach' and the manager are together. Not the fact itself, but its… predictability, which this series had managed to avoid so far. As Faust said, you could call it from the second they greeted each other.

But well, if it serves a purpose to the story, why not.

Touko and Yuu are just too good for my heart. <3 They're both perfect in their role. So much that I now fear a love triangle with Sayaka or something, that would derail their dynamic. But I don't think the author will go there.

(and I realize I comment on this series while sporting an avatar of Shiragami Touko… Hopefully YagaKimi's Touko won't end up making that face. >.>)

I may do a summary of it later (or a full translation if I really got nothing to do, but that's unlikely).

Read the first 5 chapters, and I LOVE this.

At first I feared that Touko was gonna be like Mei from Citrus (she kinda looks like her), but she's quie the opposite, thankfully. Actually, the two girls' dynamic is the opposite of what you would expect at first − you'd think the tall dark-haired Senpai would be the "dominant" one but it's not that simple. She's on the offensive, sure, but not unhealthily so, and by showing a touching kindness and fragility. And I like the fact that Yuu isn't forcefully denying her own feelings, but that… she simply doesn't have any, at this point, however she would like to. Yet she doesn't reject Touko's feelings either. It creates an asymetric, yet very endearing relationship. The "indirect kiss" scene in chapter 4 is really perfect in that regard.

So far, everything is done right, it is really pleasant to read. The romance is neither unhealthy, nor overdramatized or angsty, yet it's not boring to follow, far from it.

edit: Caught up. Yup, this is good alright. And reading other people's comments is almost as interesting… there's really many different interpretations about Yuu's feelings and behaviour. About Touko, what I get is that she's basically "in love with love" - no matter whether Yuu reciprocates or not, for now she just revels in the sweet, warm and intoxicating sensation of having someone make you float in the air.

In that sense, you could say Yuu is on the same page, except… she can't experience that feeling, yet. But if someone can make her experience it someday, it can probably only be Touko, and that's also why she wants to stay by her side.

…Otherwise, it's unrelated but has Yuu been adopted or something? There's something a little off with her calling her big sis "Rei-chan". Calling their older siblings just by their name isn't something Japanese people usually do… It would be like calling your parents by their name in the West. She even does a verbal backspace to not call her that in Touko's presence. =O Nevertheless, Rei's really a good sis.

Chapter 21-2 is out. \o/ I'm busy with a bigass Umineko chapter right now, but I'll get on AnoKiss as soon as it's done. (Speaking of which, one on the new girls reminds me dangerously of a certain Umineko character… if this wasn't AnoKiss I'd be afraid. >.>)

Alas, it seems the "Little Theatre" section at the end of the chaps is gone. =[ I liked those.

I don't know what's happening with Comic Alive, but the short chapters seem to hit a lot of their series, lately…

The chapter is titled "the disappearance of Shiramine Ayaka." Oh, the irony. So yeah, it's a chapter about Ayaka this time… kinda. Ayaka herself almost doesn't appear, but she's the focus. I'm tempted to wait for next month to release the two parts as one chapter, but that would make for a long wait…
