I found this on mangadex first so I couldn't possibly see the tags... and wow did the tone change surprise me (twice), it didn't look like it would go into this direction at all. Ended well enough though.

... but it made me wonder how much the tag system influences what I choose to read. I think I would probably skip that one but it was worth reading. Who knows.

By the way, how meta is that that some of the readers here have the power of knowing the future as well by the virtue of having read the novel... will you use that power for good?

Eh, I don't think it's realistic to prevent a revolution even if you have a superpower of a perfect knowledge of the future (more or less), even in this chapter it's clear that e.g. princes don't have all that much of a say in politics despite being mildly symphatetic to commoners to some extent. Even if you thwart some specific events you know about, people are already pissed, something else will spark that unless you're going to engage in some serious high level politics over the span of years to defuse the unrest, do reforms etc etc. Keeping your own ass safe is the smart choice.

(although I do realize I'm talking about realism in a series where we had a floating rpg game menu in the sky)

I love how they put the commoners as the villains here, no interest in reading anymore. Don't know why the author decided to put his dog water politics into this, just disgusting.

Damn that first colored and shaded page looks very nice. I realize it would make a lot more work for the illustrator, but how nice would it be to see the whole manga in this style.

Imagine the moms know each other from school and they were girlfriends and soon they realize that their daughters are continuing the yuri route they once began

I'm way less familiar with Japanese folklore and culture and stuff than you might expect from someone that frequents this website, and I didn't really bat an eye at the term "ogre", I just accepted this is what it is in this particular story :P
Although if you used "oni" instead I wouldn't think about it twice either. Some sort of creature with horns, and it's pictured immediately after the term is first used so I don't think it matters that much.

... and I think that a reason for translating something which amounts to "don't make the reader do any unnecesary research" is a perfectly good reason. It's more or less the point of translating stuff, make the reader understand the story.
