You might be right but it's just the impression that I got.

I always thought labeling Mari a bisexual was a mistake. To me, she seemed to be throwing herself at guys in a vain attempt to erase her feelings for Ran, and convince herself she's straight. Two girls together were just "playing childish love games", after all.

Maybe the author just didn't want to focus on the pain. They used various context like the texts to quickly explain how crappy the husband is, and then the author was able to focus on the solution for the bigger part of this short story. So I don't think that's cheating, instead it's simply choosing what to focus the narrative on.

Plus based on the numerous manga we've seen on Dynasty with crappy husbands, I certainly don't mind sometimes skipping the 5-15 or so chapters of abuse.

I agree reading the 5-15 chapters, of watching the jerk husband/boyfriend abuse the love interest, while the hero can only sit there and watch, totally sucks. But It makes the ending that much sweeter. However, like I said, I still liked this story, I just don't think it had the emotional impact that it would have if we would have taken the whole journey with the characters.

For coming from a culture notorious for being polite and stand-off-ish, manga, and anime often depict teacher-student relationships, as way too casual and intimate.

I'm going to guess that there's some reason for that. Maybe the fantasy of manga and anime allows Japanese authors to explore relationships that are IRL often times stand-off-ish and polite as you put it. Personally I don't see anything wrong with it, as fiction doesn't need to obey or even portray reality.

I don't see any problem with it either, it just seems strange, to me.

I fell in love with ranma's concept the second I saw it. Being able to change your gender easier than you can change your clothes seems fun. I made a roleplaying character, for a comedic superhero campaign, based on ranma. He/she quickly became my favorite character of all time.

It's weird. Ranma 1/2 has hundreds of fan fiction stories out there, but I saw almost no pure yuri Akane and Ranma pairings. It made me sad..

Now this chapter was cute. I hope the story continues to get away from the high pressure sale of lesbian sex.

Not sure why everyone is hating on this. There's room for lots of stories in queer media and allowing for ridiculous situations such as this is a part of it.

Not being down on anyone for their reactions—they are what they are—but, yeah, some stories are obviously intended to reflect social reality to some degree, and others, like this one, are like patchwork trope machines, where the author assembles mismatched sets of pre-fab narrative components and sets them running to see what crazy things will happen. (That “Lots of Tsundere Twintails” story—which seems to be gone from Dynasty—would be one example of the latter.)

(I used to do something similar with chemistry sets when I was a kid—I’d perform the first couple of experiments like the instructions said, then start mixing things together to see if anything would explode.)

Some stories just rub some people the wrong way. (sex joke not intended.)This one is an example for me. I don't hate it exactly, and I will continue follow it. However I find Aya's aggressive hard sell pressure tactics a little unsettling, maybe bordering on rape-ish.

It's a good thing. Picture it; A slice of life gag manga. A charater says, "This sucks worse than when I did that guest shot on an american cartoon". Next panel is Peter Griffin Yelling at the character, "No! cut away gags are our thing!" and scene. Maybe it be better in anime format. I bet they could actually get Seth Macfarlane to do the voice.

It's a tragedy how many yuri one shots meet an anti-climactic end with the simple two word sentence "Just kidding". I propose a petition to have that sentence banded from all of yuri-dom. Never again will it derail a yuri hookup, undoing a cute yuri one shot, throw cold water on a yuri scene just as it's turning steamy, or ruin that confession of love you have been waiting 35 chapters for, in your favorite yuri serial.

It's not really like that. Marika was always gay but she's deep in the closet and all Aya is doing is making her admit it (and choosing her as her girlfriend). Aya has a fine tuned Gaydar and knows Marika was gonna do some stupid shit, so she took advantage of that to try and show her da wae. Her methods, however, are pretty dubious but it's not like Marika can't just leave the situation since (at least in the LN) Aya makes it clear that she could just take the money and not do any work. Marika stays because, deep down, it's what she wants but she's a prideful tsundere and admitting that she's been wrong would be a blow to her ego and invalidate all of the energy she's spent protesting. The reason it feels rapey, tho, is just cuz dubcon and tsundere don't go well together.

I'm sure that the author was going for something benign. Howevere it's hard for me to ignore the similarities between Aya's tactics and the 50's style psych treatments of gay people, and stories I've heard about Girls Gone Wild producers practices of isolating girls and pressuring them into doing things they don't want by waving money in their face.

In my humble opinion, it's transparently obvious that the author has recently gotten herself a pet cat -- and is adamantly decided to turn every little detail of her interactions with her cute kitty into a yuri fantasy manga story.

By that logic, we'd have to assume she also got herself a hamster at around the same time. Which would be a pretty risky combination, if you ask me.
