Well, that sure went exactly opposite the expectations... But surely she's not going to give up now after coming this far.

Turns out Hiyama is even more awkward than she already looked from Kimura's perspective...

It's kind of weird how both moms had children at a young age with completely nameless and faceless men who were never heard from or seen afterwards . It feels like there's some world building factors in the story that the author just never felt like giving. Not that it really matters to the plot obviously, I just find it a bit strange. It's like Tomoyo's mom from Cardcaptor Sakura having had a husband at some point all the while being very obviously not interested in men in any way, shape or form :P Like, how did THAT happen ?

Clearly the two moms must have impregnated each other through unprotected handholding at some point.

(stories of European chivalry featuring peasants as knights-errant? A fluffy, yuri-friendly gladiator school?)

Looking at their designs again, this seems to be the case, yeah. The "librarian" looks the most clearly a magical girl design. The leader in the middle is more difficult to tell, but has similar shiny hair, so probably one as well, at least originally. Both also seem to have heart-shaped devices on their heads. The third one, though... Huge black scythe, costume looking like it's falling apart, the white eyes, the creepy smile, and most importantly, the lacing embedded in her skin - certainly more of a dark side design here.

I mean wasn't their age gap really small? If that's the case current Miss Sunflower would have to die somewhat young...

Not necessarily die, just hand the shop over to the next generation. I guess it really depends on how the two see themselves and the bookstore. Their relationship certainly reminds me a enough of the current and previous holders of the title to bring this to mind.

But a note to Daphie - pretty sure it should be "center color" here, "center cover" makes no sense at all.

It's interesting if you think about this from the other side. Neeko went into this interview thinking it was her one last chance at getting a job, with her self-esteem already driven into the ground and depression taking hold.

These guys went into this interview thinking this was a technicality and they'd already decided they were going to hire her. They're bored and uninterested because it doesn't really matter and yeah, why the hell DO we need so many people for this phase? The guy says she should move because the commute is hell, He probably thinks he's giving her good advice and broadcasting that she's got the job. She took it as an unreasonable demand that she has to capitulate to in order to keep the possibility of getting hired.

They don't see how abusive they're being, because they aren't thinking of this event as being meaningful in any way, but to her, this is the key to all of her self worth and her entire future, so they just crushed her without even realizing it.

That is a very optimistic take on the situation, and while it would be nice if you were right about this, seeing how we only experience the interview through Neeko's filter, the one guy possibly giving good advice does not negate them deriding her motivation and skills before that.

Well, had enough of the lack of updates here and converted the missing chapters into PNG from the PDF version myself. Upload request sent, hopefully it won't be a problem if it's not sneikkimies' own PNG version and it'll help to get things up to date over here as well.
