I’ve been thinking more vis a vis the consent issue, and why some people are bothered by their relationship while others are fine. To even know that Sarasa offered Mio a way out during the leash play you definitely had to read between the lines, as it wasn’t really explicitly stated. She was saying basically that she wouldn’t remove the leash and collar herself because what they were doing wasn’t just a casually on-and-off thing, like “wearing a pretty choker”—basically that this was something more than what they had been doing on the ride to school, and that Sarasa wouldn’t take the collar off Mio herself if she was feeling some big feelings because that was part of what they were doing; that Mio had to decide to stop it. If you didn’t catch that implication (and frankly I’m not 100% sure I’m not reading it into the story for my own comfort), her ignoring Mio’s fear is obviously super fucked up, but of course even beyond that what they’re doing would be a super unsafe way to do BDSM IRL—no discussion of limits, no explicit statement that Mio controls whether the scene stops, etc. so I totally understand people that say this is all fukt, especially if you were looking for a more realistic BDSM relationship.

Now that I read this and went back to reread the scene, I guess I kinda see your point about Sarasa saying that it should be Mio who decides to put a stop to it, if she feels uncomfortable. Honestly, when I first read it, to me it sounded like "You decided to wear this yourself, so you've already consented to all of this", which was very uncomfortable to read (and pretty much the impression I get from almost all bdsm stories I've come across).

But either way, I didn't like the typical, oh this is scary and uncomfortable, but I actually like it. It's exactly this:

^it comes across kinda porn-plot level but then isn't actually porn

But I can't say I was disappointed either, since I didn't really have any expectations. I was just, ah this is how it's going to be after all, huh

Ritsuko segsy but she has a tan right?? Seriously I don't know how she went from white skin to darker skin from her hs years to now. Anyway, glad to see a canon lesbian in a story where the mcs relationship is frustrating us all.

Is she really a cannon lesbian? I'm pretty sure her brother had mentioned that she has brought boyfriends home before, though I may not remember correctly.

Oh, and yes, I believe it's a tan. What I'm curious about is how it hasn't faded after half a year tho...

I decided to reread this in the hopes of it getting better... But it didn't. I'm currently on chapter 16 and having a hard time continuing...

I find this whole Aki-Shiho ark unbearably annoying. It feels like the supporting characters are stealing the show of the main leads. And the worst part is, I don't even like the main leads enough to be getting so annoyed by this!? I mean, they're cute, sure, but are they anything more than that? I feel like I've seen the airhead mc a dozen times, so I'm already kinda tired of whatever charm it's supposed to have, but sometimes Hima just comes off as stupid.

I don't like Shiho. Are we supposed to sympathise with her...? Idk, I was just incredibly annoyed by her quitting the band like that and I'm getting even more annoyed by how we're dealing with it. This whole "competition" thing remains completely ridiculous and unnecessary to me.

I'm soooo tired of the friend that is actually in love with one of the leads... Let friends be friends!!! Seriously, do people really like this trope so much that we have to see it in every yuri manga? I'm pretty sure it's even more common than the obligatory bath scene! How is that even possible!?

Somehow it feels like the plot isn't on par with the incredible art.

Though I liked the twist of Yori actually being the one to fall in love at first sight, it was funny. And I liked chapter 19. Oh, also, the fact that they're dating and the manga isn't finished, wow

I did not want to find out about this.

I love how Hiyori seems so timid and then suddenly gets so assertive as soon as she gets confessed to. Also, she's so short that she can't even reach the panel lol

How come drunk yuri almost always turns out to be best yuri...?

The part were the nurse just made way for Keiko to remove the bandages made me laugh a little. Like, "oh, go ahead random high school girl, it's not like this is my job or anything."

Also, that whole confession happened right there in the classroom...? That was... quite bold o.O
And I'm not saying that because they're both girls or whatever... Just— Wow, ok.

The art and the idea were nice though.

Fun, cute, amazing art, likable characters with nice chemistry. The last chapter didn't really feel like an ending, though some people have commented about an extra in the volume, so I guess that's something. I'm actually glad that the other two are left as friends and roommates, I liked their relationship the way it was.

Okay, but what I really wanted to talk about is chapter 15:
Probably my favourite chapter in the series and without a doubt the most believable dream sequence I've seen in any kind of media. It was just so great!

I've often come across dream scenes and they almost always feel artificial: as in, the flow of the events in the dream is too logical, making it obvious that it wasn't created subconsciously. Here, the author managed to create an atmosphere that clearly conveyed Koharu's inner feelings, while also maintaining this sort of nonsensical flow of events. Also, the feeling of being abandoned and endlessly searching for someone was one I often had in dreams as a child, so this feels very genuine to me.

Moreover, I loved how the first couple of pages seemed like a memory, but then it turned out to be a dream. Again, I've seen dreams based on memories many times in other works, but the way the memories here blended with other thoughts later on was pretty cool.

And if that wasn't enough, the cuteness of Koharu's reaction after she wakes up is undeniable!

Just... What a great chapter...!
...But I should probably finish this essay now XD

(though perhaps not enough to justify 4 whole flashback chapters *intense eye rolling*)

Oi, those are some of my absolute favorite chapters to re-read from time to time, along with Sumika running to Ushio when she learns of her broken arm.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely liked those chapters. I just felt that having almost a whole volume taken up by a flashback was not the best choice in terms of pacing.

And I agree, Sumika running to the hospital was great. (And the aftermath was pretty great too xD)

Rereading this I was left with pretty much the same impression as the first time: Sumika was cool (well, except when she turned to jelly...), young Ushio and Sumika were cute (though perhaps not enough to justify 4 whole flashback chapters *intense eye rolling*), Tomoe was still awesome, Miyako's eyebrows were as great as ever and half of the side characters were still unnecessary.

Oh, and the grandma was awesome.

The forgotten side characters were really the greatest issue of the manga I think. It kinda felt like the author threw in a bunch of characters and then didn't know what to do with them. Like, did I miss that Aoi girl? No. Did I really want her to play any part in the story? No, not really. But I still found it disappointing that she just disappeared off the face of the earth for half the manga. Like, if you're gonna add a character only for them to become completely irrelevant ten chapters later, then don't add them in the first place. And I could say the same for Akemiya too. They were both rather unlikeable for me to be honest, but that was largely due to their existence seeming unnecessary. Well, at least the author had some level of awareness I guess...

But even with these issues and despite the drama occasionally dragging on a bit more than was needed, it definitely had some very strong moments and was an overall great read.

No, the age-gap tag should stay. I think you're also forgetting that Aria is a Queen and has had many responsibilities and decisions placed on her over the last few centuries. It's what ultimately has kept her alive all this time. Old and wise, though she's got her quirky moments. Ichika is still a child in comparison and has a lot more to learn about life.

I did consider that actually, but she still didn't seem all that wise to me xD

I get your point though, and it's fine either way, I just thought I'd state my opinion on the tag as well. I was honestly a bit surprised when I first saw it, since I considered them to be PEERZ (that was a bad joke, sorry - probably even worse than the title itself...).

...Though, seeing as it's said in manga too and even in the title, doesn't the author see them as peers as well? That is just my assumption of course.

I've been thinking about this for a while now, but does this really count as age gap?

I mean, I get how it's paired with older than she looks since Aria has lived for... however many years. But isn't she basically a teenager? Not only in appearance but in mentality as well. It's just that, when I see the age gap tag, I'm expecting to see some difference in the way of thinking and/or appearance of the couple.

It's not like this is super important or anything and I get I should refrain from commenting about the tags rather than the manga itself... It's just been on my mind and I wanted to get it out.

Edit: Came across this and had to add it, since the manga itself states my points.
I'm not alone in this anymore! Ichika is with me! (I doubt the reliability of Ichika's judgement, but whatever).

Edit 2: I went to make a suggestion for the tag removal and I got confused because I couldn't type anything in the "tags to remove" section... And then I realised I was stupid.

Okay so I gotta ask, does anyone in the real world actually walk around with their coats hanging off their shoulders without putting their arms in the sleeves? I’ve only seen it in manga, and there’s no way the coat wouldn’t just fall off while they were moving.

I've done it a couple of times, when wearing the coat felt too hot but taking it off too cold. It didn't really slip off, though it was quite a heavy coat so I'm not sure how this would work with a light one.

Someone complaining about it: https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/fashion/fashion-trends/stop-draping-your-coat-over-your-shoulders-you-look-like-an-idiot/news-story/62a26dead9967dcb7c83146d68db2445

This was a fun read.

Okay, so... This has been on my mind for some time now, but... After figuring out how not lizard came into being, I can't help but wonder why there was a lizard tag in the first place? What is the true purpose of this tag and what devine work inspired its creation?

I have yet to uncover Dynasty's deepest secrets, but I shall not give up!

Overall I liked it, but it did feel as though there was a bit too much crammed in too few pages.

and the person the singer went to see on their own, with the whole twister thing

I was very confused about this as well. I think that was the same person as the president...? Which kinda makes me wonder what or if anything happened with the president in the first place...? (other than twister, that is lol.) I don't know, it was confusing.

Anyway, it was interesting and I really liked the character designs, they were distinctive and cool (and cute, the protagonist at least).

But I was left with a few questions unanswered. Like, has Seira been wearing mascara/eyeliner ever since she was ten ? Or am I supposed to think she isn't wearing any now? This was obviously one of the most prominent issues of this manga, almost ruined the experience for me tbh... Like, I can understand having a bit of a rushed ending and mysterious twister activities and subplots that barely got any time to be explored, but you can't be all wishy-washy about eyeliner.

Why does Mizore keep going to jail?! What's going on with the judicial system of this country?!

On a side note, Yuuko's expressions were very on point.

First.
I just love Chiyo's eyebrows. I had wanted to see more of her just because of that. Okay, it wasn't only for the eyebrows, I obviously wanted to see her back story... but the eyebrows were definitely part of the reason. That's not weird, right? xD

Second.

On the other hand, the way she was staring at that kitchen knife in the montage was pretty ambiguous and ominous.

I hadn't noticed that before reading your comment, but checking back on it I'm pretty sure she was looking at the knife because she was reminiscing about Aria.

I find it sad to see that so many people grew tired of or were disappointed by this series. I have to say, I only picked it up by the end of volume 8, so I didn't really have to wait for chapters for the greater part of the story. However, I didn't feel like it was dragging on or anything. Honestly my favourite were probably volumes 6 and 7 that dealt with Konatsu's loneliness. I don't know, maybe I just like exaggerated drama...? xD

Anyway, I thought this was a very well planned out series and I don't think it got sidetracked or lost its original goal. To me it seemed that the author had thought of how it was going to go from the beginning, and it was only the readers' expectations that made it seem otherwise. And I was actually happy that it ended this way and not with an explicit romantic relationship because that wasn't the point of the story. It was a story of loneliness and creating strong bonds with others (not only those with friends but with family members as well) and that's what makes it unique.

Asaka can't be Ruri. Unless she wears makeup to erase her freckles and draw beauty marks.
