The nickname that Riko gives Sae- "Koeda"- literally means "Twig". Its a pun on Sae's kanji: "Little Branch".

Riko is written in Katakana, but if you use the kanji antecedents of her characters, her name would mean "selfishness" or "self interest".

koike is written as 小池
小 is "small" im pretty sure.
jisho.org says 池 is "pond"

not sure how that relates to riko/sae/koeda if it does at all?

its clear that the mangaka really likes drawing detailed objects, and i guess she's particularly into sneakers. they look amazing. hard to believe this is the first series she's done.

idk, he's officially a pos in my mind.

you can't go from saying "dont pay attention to those girls, they dont understand us," and "i really like your photo, it was very memorable" one day. then when a different girl flirts with you a tiny bit start saying "she's prettier than you. your art cant even come close to representing how beautiful she is" the next day, and not be a pos.

he's part of the situation. if he stuck around he could have at least tried to deescalate.

I'm not sure if Koike left between pages or something, but his absense from the rest of the scene kinda made it seem like he was never there at all. Just what is up with the mood in this series? Everything is all over the place.

Honestly don’t like Riko at all. It annoyed me how she just stood there and smiled while those girls were ganging up on Sae.

that panel stood out to me too. nasty.

fyi: we are officially caught up with the raws, so we're really not sure where it will go from here. very excited to find out along with everyone.

now seems like as good a time as any to point something out:

For now she realized ONLY, that she wants to be her most important person, and NOT, that she wants to push her down, tear of her clothes, and do sexy things to her. I guess, THAT realization will come in another 10-20 chapter.
