Yeah, this is a classic YMMV situation--for one reader "nothing" happens, while for another the slow, slow dance of making connections/backing off/realizing feelings/ignoring or misinterpreting them is very satisfying.

I'm fine with it. 'Cuz they're cute.

I'm okay with slow burn romance. Really, I am! Even if our mcs forever keep deepening their friendship, simply trusting each other, caring for each other and feeling blessed that they have each other, I won't complain. I'm fine with stories about communion between girl pals. It's a nice, heartwarming bond.

This notion posited, I have something more to say. If these two ever look at each other with passionate eyes and then kiss and feel a surge of ardent lust for each other, I'm going to SQUEE so hard and loud the birds all around the block will get startled and fly off.

Just to make things clear.

Amusing how she keeps rewriting on the fly the parameters of her goal.

Before, she claimed she wanted Elsa to "get hitched to a male love interest, any one, asap!"

Now, a new addendum states "but only if the guy is totally perfect and I approve of him!"

I believe one of the main jokes of the story is precisely that the mc sees herself as a "scumbag" (as shown in scenes where, after being harshly scolded by her strict parents, she mutters angrily to herself "Yes, yes, I'm a scumbag, I get it!") while in fact she's one of the most pure-hearted characters to ever grace a yuri manga.

These are my very own words... and I'm here to say that I STAND BY THEM.

A three month wait for a chapter that did nothing to move the plot along and literally left off where the previous one did.

Actually, the plot did move forwards. After a lot of self-doubt and self-examination, Maki is finally done analyzing her conflicted relationship with Liz and has come to some conclusions.

We now know that she blames herself for the infidelity of Liz and thinks she must become a much better woman if she is to be worthy of her undivided love and attention.

I've read the raws up to ch. 33 thanks to Mori Rose (who uploaded the files and shared the link with us). That's why I can tell you that what's going to happen now is... what y'all can reasonably expect and in fact I think most of you have already guessed, haha.

If you want spoilers, then fine.

XiaoLu will complain to TongTong about her stupid mom. TongTong will react the way she always does when facing a tough problem: ask her mom for help! TongTong's mom will react the way she always does when her cute daughter asks for help: boast that she will fix everything, they can just leave it to her!

And so TongTong's mom will go deal with XiaoLu's mom... and the result... will be less than optimal, lol. But that just fires her up! Because there are still a few more chapters! This fight ain't over yet! Go, TongTong's mom! Fight, fight, fight! For great justice!!!

The rest, from chapter 34 onwards, I haven't read it yet -- so I really can't tell you how things will work out in the end. It'll be a surprise to me too.

I thought I had read all of Morinaga's manga series in Dynasty...

I read Secret of the Princess many years ago -- but I had completely forgotten how they made a deal to go out as a manner of hush payment.

In a court of justice, in the case of Angry Readers vs. Makino, the linked page would be Exhibit A of the defense, and Morinaga-sensei the first expert called as a witness to explain why this is ok for the heroine of a yuri comedy.

Lol, I downloaded it and after I was done reading I came back on the double to check if it was a oneshot or a first chapter!

Then when I confirmed it was the first installment of a new series I was like "WHEW!"

I was coming here to say as much--I've previously been defending MC here, but using her sister's sexuality to blackmail her is downright scummy.

I've previously been defending her as well... and I'm still defending her now!
If Makino-chan has only one knight in all the forum willing to fight for her, that will be me!

This chapter has nothing that I haven't seen before in hundreds of youth movies and novels and tv series. One sibling sneaks out of the house at night for a hot date with someone the parents don't approve of, another sibling finds about it, then the first one must bribe the other sibling to purchase silence. It's a super typical interaction between children or teens, and there must be a thousand variants of it depending on what it is that must be kept hidden (lots of possibilities, not necessarily related to romance) and what the one who has to keep mum wants as a bribe (again, lots of possibilities, heavily contingent on the age of the kid).

I'm completely, absolutely, 100% certain that the relationship between Makino and her Onee-san hasn't been strained in the least by the events in this chapter. If anything, Onee-san is grateful to Makino for not revealing her secret -- and sees the money she gave her as an allowance to her cute baby sister.
(Remember: Onee-san is an independent adult from a very wealthy background, the fee she paid is most assuredly nothing to her.)
