I think Kaede has a healthier disposition than Konatsu's, if anything seeing them close would probably make her double down on her efforts to earn some money to go see her sisters. Might also explain the chapter's title.

She wouldn't do Fuyuki dirty like that. On that note, I liked how Fuyuki was able to notice that Kaede was feeling down, he won't grow up to be hopeless like his sister.

And while it was only for one page, it was nice to see Konatsu bringing the kouhais to Aoshima, I hope we get to see more of her leading the club in future chapters. She still hasn't figured out what she wants to do and that could help her.

There is no indication that it's going to end here.

I feel like Kaede will try to give them space and leave the room at some point.

This but she accidentally rolls over Konatsu.

They all moved elsewhere and haven't been coming back to visit.

Kaede is firmly in the "so best girl it hurts" category. I hope she can deal with her own loneliness before the end of the series, it's nice to see that it's being expanded upon, I'm guessing her siblings will actually be introduced later on.

By the way, unless the next chapter is over 70 pages long, I'm guessing this volume will have five chapters instead of the usual four. Not that it really matters since the author started to divide them into multiple parts.

Aria means air, now we know the deep reason behind her name.

The way he handled the gun while and after shooting makes me think he must've actually been on the battlefield.

Not classy, but classic.

Mizuguchi just tied her hair up instead of cutting it, I can already see the "Why SasaKoi is a subversive masterpiece" youtube videos.

i swear if these two do the sexy time before yuzu and mei

Every yuri couple under the sun will.

That would be quite a shame, but to be honest I care more that it's releasing soon. It's not like a manga where the art is a vital part of the experience, in a novel they're more like a nice bonus.

I kinda wanted to see the author's take on the finals between Gloria and Leon...

Is this really not official? The artstyle resemblance is uncanny.

Even this thread went into an "is Adachi autistic?" discussion at one point. Personally speaking I don't think her social issues stem much from figuring out that she's gay, they're a lot more deep-seated and rooted in her difficulty of interacting with others in general. Same for Shimamura, there's been very little internal struggle about them both being girls, she just doesn't like being bothered.

Man, Yamada never changes. I've kinda given up on the idea of her ever getting over her inferiority complexes, at least she realized it was silly pretty quickly.

I kinda want Kase to remain brown, heh. She makes for a good contrast with Yamada.

The flower field on the chapter cover and on page 20 is insane, props to the author.

How fast are you people going? Never expected we'd start getting volume 8 before August.

I mean, we can slow down if you want?

No, by all means keep it up, you're about to earn some well-deserved rest while we all despair about having caught up.

Koyuki was reading it here: https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/nettaigyo_wa_yuki_ni_kogareru_ch14#13 while writing her own fix fic of the ending that ended up happening to her in real life.

In practice, it was not the salamander but his companion in the hollow of the rock who was first careless enough to heave a deep sigh. "Aaaah..." went the sigh, like the faintest of breezes. It was the sight of the hair moss busily scattering its pollen, as it had done the year before, that had inspired it.
The salamander could hardly fail to hear. He looked upwards, and with eyes full of friendship inquired:
"You just heaved a big sigh just now, didn't you?"
"And what if I did?" responded the other defensively.
"Don't reply like that. You can come down from there now."
"I'm too starved to move."
"You mean, you think you've had it?"
"I think I've had it."
It was some time before the salamander inquired again:
"What would you say you're thinking of now?"
"Even now," replied the frog with the utmost diffidence, "I'm not really annoyed with you."

Textbook tsundere reply.

By the way, I feel like with the author's love of callbacks, Koyuki will eventually end up saying that line: "I wish we could always be together." once the time for her to actually leave approaches. The end of the chapter I linked even has it in the editorial blurb. "... So, then what about you, Konatsu-chan? Do you want us to always be together? For me, I'm sure that I..." She won't ask her, she can't ask her, at least for now...

IIRC, the frog dies in the original story.

Don't they both die? I looked it up once, but can't quite recall at the moment.

The short story has no real ending. The salamander and the frog spend years stuck in the cave and they still stubbornly refuse to admit they appreciate each other's company.

Feel cold and warm at the same time but I love it.

Exactly what I feel since the beginning of the series lol

Like a tropical fish yearning for snow.

Hagino isn't Yamada, she's not into yuri of the "just adolescence" kind.

They got halfway through re-enacting the cover of volume 1, next time they will touch their other hands too maybe even interlock fingers.

I feel like there's been too long of a setup about what Konatsu is going to do until her own high school graduation to just ignore or completely timeskip it in the two remaining chapters of volume 8. When did they first mention it, volume 4 even? And now they just re-established it last chapter and she tellingly still hasn't come up with an answer yet. In fact, the conversation on the beach just ended up being about the two's immediate future of the current summer rather than what they had started to talk about on the phone (Koyuki going to Tokyo after graduation and Konatsu having to choose a career path), so that tells me it's more likely they and the story will be taking the next developments step by step. It ending with this volume would just reek of sudden cancellation to me, as much as the comparison to the Salamander short story has been explicitly fulfilled and left behind now. I've stated for years that I never thought that would mark the end but that would rather be the jumping-off point for the author to tell her own story with that setup.

I created an account here because I want to talk about Hanigare so much...

Maybe the thing I like the most in this series is the well-written story. I remember reading it light-heartedly at first, with blushing and cuteness here and there. The conflicts presented in this story were small at the beginning, often resolved in just one-two chapters. But as the story progressed, the conflicts were getting bigger and then finally we got that main conflict in volume 6-7. It felt natural, and Hagino-sensei didn't drop the bomb unexpectedly just for the sake of an unnecessary drama. It was important for both of them to confront each other, so they can open their heart.

In the preview of volume 8 (from volume 7), the caption implied that the next arc is about how Konatsu and Koyuki cherishes their remaining time together. I think we'll get the development of their relationship, and I believe Hagino-sensei won't make it to a waste. Still, I wonder how she brings it? This series is already more romantic than many romance manga, will she be able to take it to the next level without breaking the barrier of friendship?

Welcome! I agree, going back to the first few volumes you can see how their relationship is a lot more fluffy and lighthearted but also shallow. They weren't really capable of understanding how much they meant to each other, which led to the cracks that eventually formed and the necessity for them to clarify things. Now that they're back on good terms their bond feels much deeper, which is why I'd like to see them go to this year's summer festival or another event to highlight the difference with the previous year.

EDIT: And here it is.
