I do think Kanon's reaction at the start were a bit over dramatic, and it was made even weirder by how suddenly she shifted to super friendly.
And I think presenting the sister as so unpleasant (almost maniacal) continues this pattern :P I guess it's just a thing this manga likes to do, playing up these extremes. Not necessarily bad, maybe just a bit jarring at places.

Now that I mentioned it, I wonder if the sister will flip to friendly as easily as Kanon did.

I powered through all of it in like two days which may be a lethal dose of yuri but... it was pretty good, if somewhat meandering. I felt like I never got a good grasp on what the main couple actually wanted to accomplish - it kinda flip-flopped between "I want to beat you" and "I don't care anymore", sometimes even within the same chapter, so that shtick kinda got old fast and I just kinda expected they're going to come to an obvious conclusion in a convoluted way. Maybe it's just something that comes with ingesting 50 chapters in 2 days though, overall it was pretty high quality and enjoyable.

I read this chapter with a tissue up my nose because I got nosebleed from heat, funny how things happen sometimes

Yeah, but less punching people out during chess matches. (I assume, I ended up dropping it like 20 chapters in due to not having time to keep up with it and haven't gotten back around to reading the entire thing.)

I actually really liked that revolutionary method to achieve a checkmate in the first move, don't think the overall hyperactive and nonsensical tone was the main problem, it's more that it just didn't result in something... coherent I guess.

But I started to read that other manga just now because of this conversation and it does seem... higher quality overall. (but holy crap 50 chapters that will take me a while, they seem long too :P).

I read this after reading through Come Rain or Shine... and it was just as much of a chaotic and disjointed mess, but still somewhat likeable... but I do feel like this author sold me roughly the same story with two slightly different dressings.

That deflection at the end about loving the galaxy was a bit too stupid for me even considering this is clearly meant to be not a very serious comedy... this either makes more sense in Japanese or the author was mostly trying to imply that Yuzu was just dozing off and interpreted this weirdly... I dunno.

Volume 3 is now out in English on Amazon... which means that the official translation and the fan translation are now even.

I've read this in its entirety for the first time (I didn't read the abandoned version), and I think I mostly liked it but the whole thing was just... completely bizarre, the story never went where I expected it to, it just kinda didn't give a shit. Which I think is good? Maybe? The thing with the mother was so completely out of the left field though :P

I mean, while it's a good point, and there's always the possibility the translation isn't fully accurate, what kind of context could it possibly be that would warrant inclusion in a "highlight reel" like that, other than what's everyone predicting :P

The only thing that it's stupid in here is the entire premise, I just can't bring myself to treat these "transported into the videogame" stories seriously because of dumb shit like this, they're always at their best when they ignore this aspect as much as possible. (And yet I keep reading these, I guess I am stupid).

I gotta say, I think like 50% of the reason that people are confused has to be due to sub-par translation, I sometimes feel like I'm having a stroke whie reading this.
Also lmao at Watanabe's wish, it's like it's from some completely unrelated fantasy story where the existence of the world is endangered by some ancient beings trying to destroy the fundamental forces of nature. (I get it's probably meant to be something along the lines of the school keeping its vibe, but the translators strike again).

Yuuko's jargon really did get more pronounced, as teased earlier in this collection. I'm not sure about the timeline though as she's still a temp here and if this was after her overseas posting she'd more likely be a permanent employee.

Maybe it's just the decision by the translators to use French because in the original she used English :P Personally I like it a bit more how this was handled here:

If you take it seriously, the blonde found a suicidal girl, took her home, and then plied her with drink after drink in an attempt to have sex with her. I think the part where it became really uncomfortable, for me, was when she kept asking "Are you drunk" and then offering another drink when the answer was "no."

I didn't even mean than any particular behaviour was questionable, just the general mix of a very simplistic art style and somewhat heavy themes (but even then not entirely, I think there was an attempt to be simultaneously light-hearted about it). Very weird combination.
