I'm actually glad that the pushiness and selfish ultimatum without thinking about what the object of her affections wants is implied to be a bad thing that works against her. (not that I read part two yet but just from this it's already clear that she's not happy about it). It kind of gets tiring how many stories have the exact setup that Chiaki took and frame it as romantic and sweet instead.

Team Youko!

I'm Team Youko all the way! <3

Hrrrrm. I don't object to the theme as such, but the way the middle school girl magically knows about the teacher's dating history seems like a lazy plot device to explain why she's the one pushing the romance ... or something.

Teenage girls magically being psychoanalysts who can tell everything about a person's history and personality just from observing them is a weirdly common trope in yuri.

It's not--- Wait, no, it is...

The story suffers a bit from lesbian insta-love. Other than that it was a sweet love story. I did hate that traitorous jerk Midori. Not only did she infect herself with the stench of a man, she tried corrupt poor innocent Ten, as well. This is the ultimate sin of a yuri girl! I think she should have thrown out of the bar, and told don't come back.

I don't think lesbian insta-love is a problem. I've personally caught that disease at least three times in the past. Also, chill, Midori's bisexual, and we have no idea what Ten's sexual orientation is, so as far as we know she didn't do anything wrong.

Hey, this is a yuri story, and I'm allowed to hate any character that harshes my yuri mellow, because YURI. On the more serious side. It did seem, to me, like Midori was trying to steer Ten back towards men.

Well, Midori was definitely trying to steer Ten away from Hiroko. Which, considering the circumstances, seems to be a sensible thing to do. Maybe Midori planned on presenting Ten to guys, and later presenting her to girls if the first attempt failed.

(So Sayaka will go with you to the police station and stand by you when you turn yourself in; Matsuri knows how to get rid of the body.)

I'd definitely prefer to have a friend like Matsuri in that situation.

Do....do you expect to BE in that situation? ;;;¬_¬

I can't say the idea never crossed my mind.

Her character subsequently was developed to be quite the opposite (I stick by my previous description that she’s turned out to be “the most stand-up bestie in all of yuri manga”), but it wasn’t crazy to imagine the possibility of a dark turn to her character.

You mean 2nd best, I don't think anyone can top Matsuri "let me break into a rich person's house to help you rescue your lover" :P

No, I stand by it. Sayaka is the friend you can count on to do the right thing. Matsuri is the one for when you need someone to do the wrong thing.

The sad part? This is already a better script than most actual shounen mangos have... :/

I'm hungry, I'd like a shoujo mango.

Oh. A spin off. Not too bad! Might have been better with an extra chapter like someone here suggested.

Even an extra page would have made a difference. It ended a bit too soon.

Honestly, I had completely forgotten about the "guy from the first chapter" until I read Dynasty's description for this series. At this point that almost feels like a different story.

I didn't think it was obvious at first, but I'm an airhead.

So she’s natsu, she the girls dead girlfriend ?

That would be it, yeah.
Edit: To-be girlfriend. They didn't actually get together in the story. Natsu died before they could.

So... two idiots.

Ooo can we have a scene were Saeki bangs both of their heads together.

When I first read this my brain didn't put it together quite right and thought you were suggesting a threesome for a moment... LOL!

A scene where Saeki bangs both of them... WHOA! Do I smell doujishin?

Somehow I'm not sure I see Saeki helping Yuu out that much unless she can tell how broken Touko is because of the way things happened.

Touko's... broken? What do you mean by that?

I thought about this the other way around: Touko seeking Saeki's advice about Yuu's love for her, and what to do about it.

Interesting that even this still won't make Yuu cry, at least as far as was shown in this chapter. Perhaps she is not quite there yet to be that emotionally affected, even if she has taken strides since the beginning.

At any rate, this was a beautifully set up and executed chapter, praise be Nakatani-sensei.

I kind of looked as Yuu's running away as trying to get as far away from Touko as she could BEFORE the tears started. The last view we had of her face certainly looked like she was on the verge of tears to me...

I wonder about that... When it comes to Nakatani, even small details like that hold a lot of meaning to the story.

Straightfoward as it may be, no chapters so far have left me disappointed. On the contrary, I'm always eager to know what's next.

But by the time we get to the play it’s really like the events onstage are allowing us to go inside Touko’s psyche at last, and to not show all the play feels like it would be shortchanging us. And then to throw in some plot complication just to liven things up would be a distraction from this event that has been invested with so much significance all along.

I agree. It wouldn't have made much sense to me otherwise. I see the play as a metaphor, rather than an event itself. It's Touko's process of introspection and realization. It only went smoothly because she decided to take that step ("I want to believe in Yuu").

It could have been done differently. But it works well like this.

The fact this story consistently delivers on its promises is very refreshing. I feel the story mirrors Yuu's personality. Straightforward and reliable. It's like the anti-Citrus.

I wanna upvote this comment. Like a million times.

This series is about fluffy slice-of-life-with-swapping stuff. It's never going to have a plot, although Natsuko's increasingly strong blushes whenever the idea of her and Haruko becoming a couple is brought up in some way suggests that romance may not be entirely out of the question. But the point of the series is the lighthearted fluff, not the progression. If you can't enjoy fluff for fluff's sake, this isn't the series for you.

I love the fluff, and I loved the swapping concept. I'm not saying the story is bad or anything. It just... I don't know, I wish there was development of some sort in the story. Personal opinion, of course. Thanks for the reply.

And now we know that the last time Asami saw Minato's mother was at the reading of her father's will. That is obviously the source of the mother's anger. Asami was obviously named in the will as the heir to the majority of Minato's father's assets, with the possible exception of that CD of music?

As for the song, I have to wonder who actually WROTE it. I'm wondering if that was either written by Asami when she was a teenager and played by Minato's father on the CD or if it was co-written by Asami and Minato's father. It is obvious that Asami feels the right to use it as her own, but it is also fairly clear that Minato currently doesn't quite agree...

The CD was a gift, it was probably given to Minato and her mom before he died. (Also, who puts a CD on a will anyway?). Asami did at least inherit the guitar... and she probably stole that photo album? I'm not sure if that would have been on his will. And I'm gonna bet Asami inherited all of his songs, which makes her entitled to do whatever she pleases with them. As for who composed the song... it beats me really.

Scanlation groups tend to have one or more preferred reader websites/apps. Most groups will upload a file to their own website and also send an upload request to their service of choice, which for yuri groups is usually Dynasty.

Once a work has been submitted to a reader, other website/app managers will acquire the files from there and upload it into their own services. This is what MangaFox does.

MangaFox is kind of an arse really, because they do not respect scanlators at all. So, for example, a few scanlators request websites to wait some time before uploading their releases (like one or two days), because they want people to get the release from their website first. In the past we've seen MangaFox circumvent this by uploading stuff to MangaHere, one of their parallel services. Other times MangaFox simply doesn't care.

This is why sometimes you see messages like "Don't read this anywhere other than Batoto" show up in the middle of manga. Scanlators are used to their requests being ignored by reader websites. Also, we don't get any compensation for our work at all, nor does the original author, so it feels unfair that a website gets to profit over something you did for free.

It's true: Most girls with big (I mean huge!) boobies want them to be smaller. Most girls with small (I mean tiny!) boobies want them to be bigger.
There's a small % of 'in-between is just right' women who are perfectly happy.
It's just human nature to want something you don't have, eh?

Ps: DFC is justice!

well....smaller breasted women can only see the large size and go off of the assumption that that is what everyone likes. they don't understand everything that comes with larger sizes. the discomfort when doing like ANYTHING active. back pain. the early sagging (no matter how well you take care of em it's going to happen earlier than someone of a smaller size) the never find any cute bras your size unless you pay up the wazzoo and order online. hard to sleep on your back. on your stomach. the horrible treatment and looks from men. the love hate relationship that's tenfold with your bra compared to smaller sizes. oh how glorious it feels to take your bra off...but go around without it during the day and it's almost a relief to put it back on. so for us with larger sizes it's more than just "wanting what you don't have."

i know it's mostly a lack of understanding, but a part of me still feels a bit irked whenever i hear anyone say they wish their cup size was bigger. ALL boob sizes are beautiful ladies, don't hate what you were born to be! it might seem like a small matter, but you probably wouldn't be you in some way if you grew with a different cup size.

Thanks for the text. I know all boob sizes are beautiful, but it does get to me when I look at the mirror and see my practically flat chest, because I feel very unattractive and ugly. It makes me think I'm flawed for not having curves, that I'm less desirable than other women. I know a lot of this is just societal beauty standards and I should fight against that, but at the end of the day I still feel kind of like crap about it.

You see sex between high school girls pretty often in yuri though. 7u7

In fact it's pretty common in real life as well, y'know.

It's really nice to see such thoughtful discussions on this forum, and I think it really reflects well not just on the people that are posting, but the quality of Nakatani Nio's work. It's a shame that slower paced and more serious dramatic manga aren't more popular, particularly in the yuri genre which I think lends itself to more challenging and complex love stories.

Well, this one turned out plenty popular. It runs on Dengeki Daioh and it's getting an anime adaptation, that's popular for you.

But I see what you mean, particularly after both Tsubomi and Hirari ceased publication.

“She’s not just kind, you fucking idiot—she’s in love with you!”

In retrospect, I wish someone had actually said that to Touko in the manga. That would be brilliant.

could it be that Asami was in love with Minato's dad and maybe she is trying to get back at the mother by taking away Minato?

at least that's the vibe I am getting so far

I'm not sure if she was in love with Minato's dad, but I am definitely getting a vengeance vibe from all of this. There is some serious bad blood between Asami and Minato's mom. There may have even been bad blood between Asami and Minato's dad. I think poor Minato is going to end up being the one to pay the price.

(Foreword: I don't know anything about chapter 8 yet, so I'm just joining the discussion because I love debating about stories like this)

This chapter made me slightly pissed at Asami. I can't see why she'd use Chrysanthemum Sounds for a commercial song, and it just feels like she was with Minato in order to get inspiration for that song (I mean, what of she replying to Minato's "I love [you]" with "I'm sorry"? She's playing with Minato! Arrrgh! Asami's infuriating!*)

*a sexy kind of infuriating, though.

It could be Asami was involved with Minato's father. But on the other hand, I don't think Asami lied to Minato when she said she was more interested in her than in her dad. I don't actually remember Asami lying to Minato at all so far. And yes, Asami seems to resent Minato's mother quite a lot, but to me it doesn't look like she had anything against Minato's dad.

I really liked this series at the beginning but lately I haven't been finding it all that interesting anymore... could anyone please give me a spoiler and tell if there has been any romantic development in these last few chapters? Or some interesting plot elements besides the usefulness and fun of swapping?
