OK I'm annoyed too, but I also understand that Japanese school girls going out as kids/teens is considered normal. Not to mention these sheltered upper-class girls might not understand a lot of things. I mean MC does only really start to realize what love truly is after getting shoved down and bitten. I mean she's never been in a relationship before and the girls talk about marriage interviews - so it's likely they've never even considered choosing a relationship themselves and/or love.
I think it's really shitty but those making out MC to purely a heartless bitch aren't considering a lot of the situation.
THANK you! That's pretty much exactly what I was thinking, during the whole thing she was doing the best she could, given she barely comprehended the situation. It wasn't until the truth was put in her face in a way she couldn't look away from that she realized what a mistake she'd made and it was too late to fix it. If anything, she's as tragic a figure as the other girl.
I just realized something else. Her initial feelings were like the big black dog that always slept with her and kept her safe and happy. She's a rich, naive ojou that probably doesn't get much personal interaction from her high class parents. That dog was probably the thing she loved most in life... until she found her tall kouhai. She literally says the six months with her were the happiest she ever remembers. It's not like she had much choice - her parents just holed her up in a ballet school until she was graduated and could marry a partner they likely chose for her. The other girl was just frustrated that her senpai girlfriend (who caught between a rock and a hard place and couldn't do anything to get out) wasn't expressing more turmoil about their breakup.
