The realistic conclusion would be sad, the unrealistic conclusion would go against the point of the manga...

I'm not even sure what I want to happen so I'll just leave it to the author to decide.

For season 2 they should trade outfits. It's like they were born to wear the other's clothes.

Foxy lady

No.... :( I was wondering why the pages on the WDTFS discussion forum felt shortened as I refreshed...

I love your posts...

It means so much coming from you mpgpeg. You know that I have the highest respect for you and Orange.

Nezchan, the "delete" button now works... Thank you...

I know it's your personal business and all, but it completely baffles me. Could you explain, in one sentence, why you're deleting your account and all your posts?

Nishi Uko packs a lot of information into her works. Even where the text is sparse, she uses visual cues to encourage readers to read between the lines. She had an interesting essay on this in the "Yuri Culture" issue of Eureka.
If this is not a style you like, perhaps you would prefer to read a different artist's works instead.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. The thing about the literalness of the translation was a shot in the dark and it seems be just the way the author writes, so I apologize.

I've read all of Nishi Uko's works on this site, and I actually find her style of writing works really well for her science fiction themed stories. In manga like this one, that deal with realistic relationship interactions, I'm not sure what the intention is behind the characters' heavy and formal speech patterns. Is this simply a Japanese cultural thing? Or is it used because the author happens to like the way it reads?

So you would rather the translator didn't actually translate what was there, but instead summarized what was there? I thought the whole point is to keep the mangaka's works as intact as possible? This is the style for this manga. In the raws, a lot is crammed into the panels. That's just the style of Collectors itself.

These questions are a little disingenuous. I'm sure you're aware there's a middle ground between perfectly literal translation and summarizing/bastardizing.
I don't know how this manga reads in the original Japanese, but I'm grateful for the scanlator's hard work. If this translation captures the intent of the original author, then I have no basis to criticize. However it's fair to say the information density is one thing I don't enjoy, nor partularly understand about this manga.

I'd like to suggest a separate tag for Nanoha x Fate doujins that feature Vivio, i.e. Nanoha x Fate x Vivio. Vivio's presence is a paradigm shift for the stories she's in, so it'd be nice to have a tag for her, even if she's not being paired with anyone.

I like the concept and characters in this series, but the panel format, combined with the rather wordy dialogue, makes it feel kind of... uncomfortably dense? There's nothing too abnormal about how the characters talk, but almost every single sentence is written in a formal manner. I think a little terseness, and perhaps a slightly less literal translation, could have gone a long way.

I might actually cry if he chooses Tokujira over Botan. Would be much more interesting if Tokujira turns out to be gay.

Okay, for you kids on the site:

A "phone booth" was a big, glass booth that used to be found on street corners in cities across the globe. Inside, there was an old-fashioned phone that was connected to the telephone network by a series of wires and cables. The handset was separate from the bit with the buttons. Most places in the U.S., they cost a quarter to use. But only for a local call. If you wanted to make a long-distance call, you might have to put in as much as two dollars worth of change.

This prehistoric history lesson has been brought to you by Dynasty's Resident Old Fart.

I mean, I want to believe you, but it all sounds a little too fantastic to accept.

The competition was not about a battle of egos. Aoba's idea was that it would boost Kou's self confidence, and give herself a challenge that would motivate her to improve her art. Aoba cried not out of dissapointment at losing, but at sering how far she still had to go as an artist.

I remember one time after a high school basketball practice, I was casually playing with a teammate who was much better than me, and choking up a little bit thinking about how I wanted to be as good as him.

That's what this chapter meant to me.

Crying about something just means you really care about it, and that can include work. I didn't find it to be too melodramatic, she worked really hard at something and had an understandably emotional moment.

It's tempting to just view Mimi as an actual cat being personified to the reader, but in my opinion it's more fun to think of her as Kanon's adoptive child who happens to be a catgirl.

Somehow this chapter is even more crap. cO

So Aoba's pushing herself to the point where she nearly breaks down seeing Kou's work and starts crying. But when the magazine is printed, everything is ok and she can accept that she lost the competition? Girl you never had a sliver of a chance winning in the first place. Kou could have literally drawn shit and she would have still been favoured by the company....

How is the chapter crap? Aoba was crying over visually seeing how far she still had to go as an artist to match Kou, not because she was a sore loser. She can accept that she lost the competition because she respects Kou's work.

Maybe I'm in the wrong for this, but I want to see Aika and Haine like each other romantically. It's manga, not real life, so it can get away with it!

I understand that Minamo was implied to be cured at the end, but I'm not sure how? Could Nino have done that all along? About the idea of an immortal having a physical relationship with a 9 year old, I think Minamo's greatly lengthened perception of time, and the fact that her life probably wasn't going to last much longer, put the issue in somewhat of a moral gray area.

Always thought this site earned a dollar for each transgender related conflict and Ulq / Rohan ban, hence its wealth.

Are Ulquiorra and Rohan the same person?
