I admittedly never got what was Maya's deal. Was it that everybody fell for her and she just happened to not be able to answer their feelings or does she have no romantic interest in other people at all? The internal monologue in chapter 10.5 was a little confusing.

I'm not sure either. Maybe she was like a more insecure Yuu? Or else, she did reciprocate Chiharu's feelings but didn't want to confess because they were gonna be separated anyway. Or she realized it too late.

On one hand, I still can't picture Chiharu as being in love with Izumi, but on the other hand she has to have some genuine feelings for not giving up yet.

I guess that, like Maya, Izumi triggers her motherly instinct or something… They're admittedly a perfect complement for each other.

^^ Well, their dynamic wouldn't quite be the same without Yurine's teasing. In this case it's pretty harmless, so why not. :þ But yeah, setting "awake" as her default mode during the day would probably help.

Dunno, among the yuri I've read (which aren't that many, admittedly), none of the protagonists were Ayaka's brand of tsundere.

As for the assistants, I don't know for Dengeki Daioh, but Comic Alive seems to have pretty lax rules regarding the number of pages. So it's probably easier for them to manage their pace and efforts.

…Rereading a few chaps of AnoKiss (as well as the latest interlude chapter), I get a bit more what Nakatani meant when she said Canno's style isn't very shoujo-like. It's not just the artstyle, the dialogue and humour really feel more like a shounen romcom than a conventional yuri at times. Hell, one of the main girls being a tsundere is a very shounen trait in itself.

I believe these people are in denial though lol. Heck, even if two girls are having sex, some people will still say they are straight and just experimenting, or do it for attention etc. But if guys do the same thing they are definetely gay. To be completely honest, i believe that a lot of these "straight" cases are just happy because they can do whatever they want and people will still call them straight.

And that's when we get girls being very obviously and officially a couple in every sense of the word, down to expressly saying they love each other that way, and still being called "friends". That's one of the things that made me cringe in Cross Ange (then again, what isn't cringe-worthy in Cross Ange? >.>)

Heck, that's even the case for the two girls in my avatar. Although these two are kinda psychopathic but that's another matter.

…Ehem, anyway, it's developping quietly but steadily. I don't expect any big drama bomb to be dropped in this series anyway. Nakatani doesn't seem to be a "flashy" writer. If there's drama, it'll be quiet and subdued.

As for Touko, it's unclear what she aims for. If she doesn't want Yuu to fall for her because it would bring expectations, she's doing a very bad job.

I don't think she "aims" for anything. She's simply intoxicated, and thinks Yuu won't fall for her no matter what she does, so she ends up going a bit overboard. Except Yuu's starting to be attracted, slowly but surely, but Touko doesn't quite notice it. The whole appeal of the series is to see how that stalemate will be resolved, really.

On another note, I kinda liked the little rivalry between Touko and that basketball club member. It shows us a side of her we hadn't really seen so far.

Also, I laughed.

Can you see the flame of competition burning in their eyes?!

Well, that's why I buy the volumes; in the hope that it will encourage publishers to import less well known but better yuri series.

I think it's still popular because it was quite good in the beggning and now people keep on reading it anyway. But definitely not that hype it had 2 years ago.

Huh, I honestly like the latest chapters way more than the pre-hook-up ones. And I don't think I'm the only one.

Lots of them? The only actual Love triangle in the series was that of Vice Prez/Mei/Yuzu and that one was solved a long time ago. Sarah's arc wasn't a proper love triangle because she didn't knew Yuzu was pinning for Mei and as soon as she knew, she step aside.

Don't forget Matsuri. :þ Although I sure would like to forget her.

Also, what do people mean by "mainstream"? That word confuses me when it comes to such a niche category as Yuri − and especially a niche magazine like Yuri-hime… It's like calling a music "mainstream vegetarian progressive grindcore".

Anyway, Chapter 22 was both hilarious and kinda sad. Mei really looked like a robot trying and failing to grap human behaviour.

And, yeah, chap 23 was pretty heartbreaking. =[ Yuzu is so intoxicated she forgot that not everyone is as easygoing as her about these things. Though I can't exactly blame her, considering the density of lesbians in this series, plus her yuri-fangirl kouhai.

Speaking of which, that nosebleed channels every reader's feelings I guess. X) And it's not the first time it happens, apparently. Poor Harumin really deserves a medal for putting up with Yuzu's antics, haha.
