i think the "perfect date notebook "arc was suposed to be that moment, when i started reading it i was like "yes this is it chief" for me that was the perfect moment to expose and fix the fundametal flaws on their relatioship. flesh out mei, give her a personality and agency on the story
Mei wanting to change for yuzu and triying to be her ideal partner was something i legit didn´t expect and really raise my hopes, sadly nothing actually changes because mei is perfect and doesn´t need to change a thing

The engagement was "resolved" a full chapter earlier (end ch2), consider instead that the conversation was, unsurprisingly, about the arc that filled the chapter immediately leading up to it: it was about his impulse to lock Mei away (and expel Yuzu) afterwards to keep her safe, instead of trusting her judgement, and the only result was letting her return to her new home (if she wanted to), and associate with Yuzu again.

you´re dismissing a direct quote from the manga and giving it the meaning that fits your narrative, at that point the misunderstanding was already clear he already told yuzu that se wasn´t gonna be expelled, the conversation was clearly about inheriting the school and the marriage

It was only in ch28 (after various "tests" earlier) Mei finally concluded she was in love with Yuzu (which is why she was finding herself unable to resist doing things she knew she shouldn't).

that doesn´t make mei look any better, if that was the case she kept doing thing despite knowing that she was gonna hurt yuzu
either mei was aware of the engament from the beggining,hurt yuzu consiously and saburo uta is a genuis or she didn´t and was a vitciim of the situation and couldn´t say no (wich makes her love for yuzu questionable but at least plausible)

rly why tho? im not sure about japan but i think here in the west the manga was fairly popular

^^ i didn´t say that i didn´t like it again it was really cute, i know that is not a bildungroman but at the start of the anime they have this monologue about how they are draggin each other down etc etc then both start attending class, adachi starts hanging out with shimamuras friends (even by herself at some point) and it seemed like she was starting to connect better with people
so when adachi talks to shimamura on chapter 11 i tought that maybe she was going to try to fit with her new classmates for shimamuras sake, so when instead of that both decide to isolate themselves it was kind of jarring
again i enjoy the anime it was cute, it was fun overall, just that moment made my raise my eyebrow

i literally just finish the anime and i have mixed feelings, it was really cute but i thought that they were going to help each other overcome their issues but at the end shimamura is still emotionally distant with people and adachi gets worse she´s still a loner and gets so possessive and dependant of shimamura that is kind of worrying

You seem very concerned with right/wrong and fault, I don't actually recall much in-text blaming - we see some of Yuzu's regrets and self recriminations because it is primarily from Yuzu's pov; we don't see the same from Mei because we don't see her pov (Mei is presented as an enigma, the way she appears to Yuzu).

it doesn´t matter because again there´s not a single instance of mei taking action to solve a problem or emend her mistakes at the end is always yuzu powering everything by herself

Mei said that they can't control what other people think. After that Yuzu asked if she could stay be her side, etc and after a long pause and with an expression that certainly wasn't happiness or confidence Mei agreed with a simple yes. She was cornered, with Yuzu crying on her shoulder, it was the only thing she could say (and even as she doubted it it's likely she wanted it to be true). Mei's inner conflict was blatantly advertised.

As for hurting herself, Mei wore Yuzu's ring secretly the whole time they were apart, she didn't do that for kicks.

you can give the meaning you want to that chapter, despite her best intentions everything she said ended up being a lie and my point stands at the end the one that pushes through the problem is yuzu, while mei takes a backseat (as always) while given all the excuses of the world

What have we settled? Mei won't date her grandfather symbolically anymore, he's now just an old dude. Mei actually cares for Yuzu. Mei has moved back in...but the whole thing is severely tense and Mei knows it. Yuzu was crying FOR-E-VER. Her mom watched her daughter go through depression FOR-E-VER. So Mei casually walks back in? Stand up for yourself, Yuzu! I get that you love her but don't just let her walk all over you. She left you for dead in the middle of the night. Mei must answer for her sins, a relationship that glances at the graveyard of their troubles and keeps walking past mindlessly is destined for trouble and breakup.

i sadly don´t see that happening at all. There´s not a single instance of mei apologizing or taking responsability for her actions, usually the manga shifts the blame to yuzu for "not understanding mei" (wich is baffling to me)

mei´s not a horrible person for teasing and playing with yuzus feelings at the beggining of the manga and then ignoring her althogether, mei has suuuch a tragic past that all her wrong doings are justified, apologies? no no no we don´t do that here, besides yuzu realize that was her fault for "not understanding mei" so everythign is fine

the incident with sara was also yuzu s fault, how dare she reject mei s crypted and rushed advances what a horrible person

remember that chapter where yuzu was so sad because she realized her friends were big jerks that made fun of same sex couples and mei told her that they would face those problems together when the time came, to then proceed to accept an arranged marriage behind yuzus back. That was also yuzus fault for not realizing sooner and "not understanding mei", besides she felt sooo bad about it, the letter said it so it must be true

or the chapter where mei realize that she wasn´t fullfilling yuzu´s needs as a partner and tried her best to have a perfect date but at the end yuzu was like "yo our relationship is perfect the way it is and it was selfish of me to expect something out of you"

at saburo uta eyes mei´s a prefect being that can´t do wrong and doesn´t need to change or take responsability for her actions

Mei has to atone with more than 'I love you'. Mei has to change more than simply being a wealthy Japanese introvert who now WON'T have a symbolic het baby-making relationship with her arranged partner. Mei has to prove her individuality more than she has. Maybe that comes with time, and maybe that's what Citrus Plus is all about, but who IS Mei?

Attempting to frame Ataru's kindness as simping is ludicrous given the situation, but if certain people want to embarrass themselves by using it incorrectly, I have no problem with letting them look stupid.

YuuPomu isn't exactly healthy, Ayumu can't share and Yuu can't let go, but it is interesting that a relationship like this actually exists within Love Live.

YuuPomu is the greatest thing since slice bread, first time that a drama actually got me in love live, not gonna lie you watanabe made me tear a little but that was it and i didnt really feel anything about kotori

well i´m also sad but creators deserve to be paid for their work, i wish there could be a platform like webtoon for yuri manga so ppl that can finacially support artists have a easy mean to do it and ppl that can´t, help by reading on the official website or app but i know that probably wont happen

I like how Izumo tried to mitigate the Watermelon's edginess by having Shamiko and Momo sling wisecracks throughout her demon genocide spiel, though it only served to make her more unnerving. I'm not even sure if this was intentional or not- Izumo's 5D chess is as brilliant as ever.

i dunno man for the longest time i´ve felt that izumo keeps killing the mood of the scenes by slaping comedy on crucial or heavy moments , some times i can´t take anything that´s happening serious despite the content being, like really serious and kind of dark, some times i´m at the edge of my seat and then the characters start craking jokes and making funny faces, wich really takes me out of the experience, maybe that´s just me but i feel like the manga is not being serious when it really needs to be

manga nico is such a cool character , i dont know how the anime manage to get her so wrong, anime nico is so obnnoxious. angry and selfcentered that is annoying

tovarisch feels really rushed to me. it's clear that all the characters are well designed, but they didn't have time to breathe. seemed like too much content was squashed into too few panels, and as a result it was extremely chaotic.

I guess you're right tovarisch was chaotic, wich to me was part of the charm of the series, i just love how over the top was, some jokes land some others don't but i think the tone of the manga fits the characters perfectly,
it was rushed and hard to follow and despite all the time put into the side characters some of them still feel shallow so i can understand why some people hate them, but to me tovarisch was so funny and unique that i don't really care
I just have a soft spot for tovarisch since it was one of the first Yuri mangas I've ever read so take my worlds with a grain of salt

this series by contrast has had enough time to explore the entire ensemble cast, and its much better for it

And yes i think come rain or shine is a more complete manga overall, i still miss the comedy but if it means i can read an Arata iri manga without being axed i guess is woth it
