By now I'm pretty sure Canno plans to develop AyaYuri in odd-numbered volumes and ignore them in even-numbered ones.

What are the volumes where they're developed? 1, 3 and 5. What are the ones without them? 2, 4 and 6. So logically we should see them again in volume 7, and they'll disappear again in volume 8 (if they series isn't over by then).

BTW, whats wrong with Deen? Is it because they make yaoi anime?

I kinda have a bone to pick with DEEN since they butchered two of my favorite series (Higurashi's first season and Umineko… my god the Umineko anime =.=). I think they're usually seen as the typical "low budget-low creativity" studio.

Anyway, the way I see it, Amane is someone who seeks to fill a huge affective void. The ways she reacts when Ryou rejects her and then when she accepts her, are quite significant. The latter is not the subdued "just as planned" or "hey, thanks" face, but a "OMGOMG IS THIS HAPPENING FOR REAL?!" face. Izumi said that "she only had room for one person in her heart"… but Amane might not feel fulfilled unless she has several. That would be why she seems to fall in love so easily.

^^^ I sure it's not the latter, it would just be sad. Hiruma at least seems ready to accept that side of her, although she may not exactly share her philosophy yet... Nina's problem might be that she thought she could accept it, but now realizes she's not quite willing to share.

What intrigues me is this page. She says she loves both Nina and Ryou equally... but she's looking at Ryou in the eyes on one side, looking away with Nina's face hidden on the other. Amane and Nina's relationship might not be that stellar behind the scenes…

There aren't actually that many characters, but I'm having trouble keeping track of them.

I might be the only one who thinks this, but i'm kinda glad to see a love triangle in this series. I need my share of drama in every series i read.

I don't absolutely want drama, but I don't mind a bit of it every now and then. It's admittedly more fun when there are a few bumps on the road. :þ What's interesting here is that I'm not sure what road this arc is gonna take…

^^ Yeah, I thought the same. Nina must have realized midway through that she was chatting with Hiruma all along, and unwittingly pushed her to get closer to Amane. Now she's trying to "repair" that…

I must say I love that little scene of the teach's girlfriend trying to kiss her with her pushing back while she's on the phone. It's so "young married couple". X) This series is really great at writing in small details like this.

Sayaka acts pretty cool about playing the lover but… I wonder how that will go on the stage if she plays the role too "convincingly". =[

I'm pretty sure dating at least one girl during your stay is mandatory in Seiran, so I wouldn't worry about that.

PS: The series' summary was changed by the way. Probably a bit more fitting.

Back to the chap, I feel like she feels so much better when she feels needed in a way that the other person would be lost if she doesn't help them and Izumi is pretty much fucked if she didn't had Chiharu for her. Even though Maya liked her, she never needed her in that way.

Well, Chiharu did act a bit like Maya's mom (from Maya's own words), and we see in chap 7 that her slightly incompetent side triggered Chiharu's love, sort of. I guess she's that instinct of guidance and protection or something. But when it became clear that Maya didn't need her anymore and was too far away for that, Izumi came in to fill that gap.

Ah well, I think we'll be back to AyaYuri next chap. So far they've had no chapters in even-numbered volumes (2 and 4), but I don't see Canno introducing a new couple in the middle of this volume…

Back to the chap, I find it pretty sweet how Chiharu is actually the one who badly needs someone by her side. Or rather, it seems like she needs someone to take care of, and be the boke to her tsukkomi. In that sense, Izumi fills a similar role as Maya to her − although a bit dumber.

Wait, what happened in Izetta that got you grumpy? I still haven't watched, but i was planning in doing it once it ended, but if it ends in a bad way i might not do it.

Well, first, yuri-wise, there is no kiss between Finé and Izetta (unless you count this scene). Some might argue that it wasn't even needed, considering they're pretty much acknowledged as a couple, but still, it's annoying. And more generally, the ending felt rushed and pretty messy, with a certain character pulling victories out of his ass and another one being painfully underdevelopped. It should have been a 25 episode series, really. It just reeks of wasted potential after its first episode.

It's strange, it was a rather long chap, yet I felt like not much happened… Even though it did, since it's a rather important chap in Chiharu's development.

Still, that was sweet as hell − and fixed my grumpy mood after Izetta's ending. Also is it me, or is Canno's artstyle becoming somewhat more… cinematographic, so to speak?

Can we go back to Ayaka x Yurine now?

More seriously, the series' description on Dynasty needs to be revised. It's clear by now that there is no such thing as a "main couple" in this series. Canno just does whatever she wants.

That's also why AnoKiss probably wouldn't work in anime − or if it has one, it should be either separate OVAs (one per couple) or out-of-order episodes like Haruhi.

The right one is indeed more readable. Maybe the glow effect should be reduced a bit though.

Chiharu sure is a special kind of adorable, ain't she. I wonder, would she count as tsundere or kuudere?

Supreme irony: with this chapter, Chiharu and Izumi now have as many chapters focused on them as Ayaka and Yurine (7 each, not counting the omakes). So they're officially the co-main couple now, haha.

^ Eeh, maybe. Chiharu's character file does say that she "likes older girls". Maybe she's just the kind to fall in love easily, which would be surprising considering her grumpy character.

Regarding the chap, I find Izumi's inner monologue quite interesting. She's discussing "monoamory vs. polyamory", but switch a few words, and you could make pretty much the same argument for "het vs. homo". Yet here she describes her own (lesbian) relationship as "an ordinary story". It's quite refreshing in a way.

And yes, I'll never be thankful enough to this series for keeping soap opera drama to a minimum. Also that last panel in the Little Theater, uguuu. >.< "Friendship" comes first, huh.

Next chap will be from Chiharu's perspective it seems, and tha's welcome. We know how Izumi feels towards Chiharu by now, but we haven't got much insight on Chiharu's feelings for Izumi.

This chapter was pretty harsh… And Koyomi might be a psychic.

When was the last time a non-comedy, non-ecchi yuri was animated?

For some reason, the absolute lack of reaction ("ほ", "ho") from Sayaka's shitty senpai when Sayaka told her she had no idea how she had even fallen in love with her did hit me hard.

It's worse than no reaction. It's a sigh of relief. Like, she's totally missing the point.

^^ Apparently a short crossover between YagaKimi and "Happy Sugar Life", sold for a day at Animate, Gamers, Toranoana and Melonbooks.

I was pretty amused by the ex's sigh of relief when Sayaka told her "she didn't know how she fell in love with her." She slightly misunderstood what Sayaka meant. X)

That was pretty sweet and awesome.

I don't really think we need to see more of that senpai, honestly. These few pages were more than enough to settle matters with her. For her it was a "phase", for Sayaka it was not, and if she finds something wrong with it, good for her. What else is there to say?
