I've gotten similar (though not as extreme) reactions from friends of mine who regularly enjoy anime/manga. It is unfortunate that people can't understand the difference between a pedophile and someone who enjoys lolis. This topic suffers the same problem that violent video games do. Its not the games that make people into violent individuals. Its that those with violent tendencies are drawn to violent video games.

The same thing applies to pedophiles and lolis. What can ya do -_(-.-)_-

I have to agree, regular publishing is typically too infrequent for my liking and all too often the story gets warped to pull in more money.

Crowd sourcing seems to be starting up now (check out Morinaga's latest) and its an idea I've entertained for years. I'll be looking into how to contribute to that tomorrow. I might be a broke ass college student with a large, still growing debt but if sending $20 per month to a crowd sourced publisher gets me more good yuri I'll find a way to live on less.

I am reminded of the time I teased my little sister too much and she proceeded to kick me in the jaw. Even manged to chip a tooth. The good old days :P
