I was never an incest fan but I'll make an exception to this... I kind of like Mikage and Tomoe together.. I mean, they need more sister interactions.. I just want a confirmation about how they actually feel about each other either it's romantic or sisterly love, doesn't matter.. I always feel like the story evades the question of their relationship...

And what's up with Kujou? I liked her throughout the series and I still honestly like her, but I don't get why she's doing the thing she's doing?? Can someone please explain??

Is it just me, or is the story turning into some really angsty teenage drama???

i would say it's trying to be dark and twisty to quote "Grey's Anatomy." But to answer your question, by not submitting the application, Kujou is leaving Tomoe little choice but to go to school outside the prefecture. Why? because Kujou realizes that Mikage has a lot of influence over Tomoe, and since Kujou is in love with Tomoe, Kujou most likely believes that the more distance between the sisters, the better her chances are to win Tomoe's affection. (similar to ColonelCat and Risingstar's interpretation)

hope that answered your questions.

As others have mentioned, by not turning in the application, what outcome could Kujou possible expect? Kujou has most likely damned her friendship with Tomoe (although Tomoe seems the be a really good hearted and forgving person), most likely ensured that Tomoe will not want to separate from her sister, and will never (OK, mostly) will never be a love interest to Tomoe. And to those that think Kujou acted out of fear, very likely, as her actions are very illogical and irrational? But I honestly think Kujou considered the consequencs. Surely she'd have to realize that by not turning in the application, she was risking Tomoe being heartbroken and possibly hating her? and if she did, then that is the purest form of malice I have ever seen.

So let's try to rationalize this out. Tomoe is forced to go to a university outside the prefecture. who's to say she goes to the same as Kujou. Even if Kujou applies for and is accepted to the same school, Tomoe will most likely ignore Kujou. Kujou then does what? Stalks Tomoe? At some point, Kujou is going to have to realize that she has crossed the creepy, psycho boundary unless Ogawa-san is going to leave Kujou's character as a loon.

On the other hand, Tomoe waits a year to go to a school in the prefecture. Kujou loses yet again. So what was the point of withholding the application? Bah, this story is getting messy, but for reasons unlike what others have mentioned. This story is trying for force love polygons in an unnatural way, but it's less polygon and more briar patch.

anyhoo, just my 2¢

And for some reason, I never got into Fairy Tail. Ironically, I got into the prequel of it, Rave Master from the same author. XD I would volunteer to help, but I don't know Lucy and Levy too well that I might mess up their characterization and facial expression.

Well, my idea could probably be adapted to an original, I just wanted to see that pairing. Maybe when I see your sample, I'll get some ideas from it.

silly question, but have you ever posted your ideas online to a site like DH? if you are worried about depth, then getting feedback and criticism is the best way to help you fill in the areas of your stories that are lacking.

To those complaining that people went to the effort of translating and uploading this, there is a NTR tag on it, if that ain't your gig, don't read it and move on.

Feel like you have to be somewhat masochistic to really like this. And i did. :)

so you are saying you are masochistic?

I sometimes forget how many miss sunflowers there is ..and end up confused, when they talk about the others.

The Dread Pirate Sunflower?

Dread Pirate or Dead Pirate? and which Miss Wanna-be-Sunflower are we talking about? Sunflower-naught (original bookshop owner), Sunflower-one (current shop owner), or Sunflower-transpose (black-haired imp)?

argh, the vulgar and impatient me wants all this back-and-forth to be done and over with. Miss Sunflower and Matsuri just need to confess their feelings for one another and kiss already! now the "Master" character is very intriguing. Every time I see her, I keep thinking the original Miss Sunflower did not die or maybe this is the sister of Miss Sunflower, let's call her Miss Black Dahlia.

@Nezchan, I don't think her, Miss Black Dahlia's intention is to drive a wedge between Miss Sunflower and Matsuri, but she does appear to be an imp, and based on the brother's reaction, Miss Black Dahlia's gentle teasing might rub Miss Sunflower the wrong way or cause a silly misunderstanding, albeit unintentional.

after reading this, I don't think I'll ever be able to read red riding hood or watch "Hoodwinked" with a straight face again...

I don't think you're supposed to watch "Hoodwinked" with a straight face...

oh sure you can. now whether or not you view the complete movie with a straight face depends. I just try to average it all out. for example, I start off with a straight face. by the middle I am probably smiling because to me that is the funniest part, and by the end I am frowning 'cuz it makes a b-line for stupid. if you average it all out, it's a straight face :-)

ok, i have a couple of question. Was psycho-Red the crying lump on the last page? and if she was frustrated with not getting any action, why did she have a "no entry" warning over her, ahem, beaver? also, after granny and the wolf met untimely demises, why didn't Red just take Hunter into the woods for a private picnic and some special lessons on logging? Red could show Hunter how a Beaver works and Hunter could show her how a woods woman is good at working with her hands. I'm thinking it's a win-win for everyone.

Pretty interesting how different all three of these stories are.

they are so unlike her other manga, and to a certain degree one shots. it is almost like these doujinshis are shetchpads for her to try out different and new ideas. if that is the case, then wow and more please! I cannot say I always agree with the premises or the conclusions, but I am digging the variety. It also forces me to not pidgeon-hole mangaka or their writing styles.

on a different note, I'd love if Amano Shuninta-sensei wrote a parody of Snow White where the dwarves (all women) were all recently single. I'm thinking tangled mess o' love polygon ;-)

EDIT: totally forgot about the Yurimm Fairy Tails. Maybe Shuninta-sensei can create her own collection of yurified fairy tales. I would so wanna buy and read that. maybe her, Morishima Akiko, and Fujio could all pen an updated (adult?) version. (drooling at the thought of all three mangaka working together)

has finally caught up

WAIT! WAIT! Haven't the experiments at the LHC disproved the entire universal collapse hypothesis? Or am I misunderstanding what the manga is saying there?
On a completely different note: is that the end of the manga?

some of the experiments at LHC have added more credence to the missing "stuff" that makes up the universe, but that experiment is just one of many. I'm not sure whether there is work being done to show if the universe's expansion has slowed or subsequent cooling would cause it to contract.

Yeah. They get a lot of things blatantly wrong. It's actually gotten a little painful every time they drop into technobable. That's probably my biggest complaint about this series. It tries to be smart, but the author doesn't really know the physics. They'd be better off if they just glossed over those parts.

maybe, but it's nice that they tried tackling the physics. in the simplist of cases, they get it right. it the more rigorous cases, yeah, they fail miserablly, but heck, precious few sci-fi outlets be it TV or print have always gotten the physics correct.

it's not so wrong this manga, probably is one of the better fiction (scientifically) after 2001 a space odissey;
and the big crunch and the big rip are all plausible teory, there's no way the scientific comunity can prove or disprove the universe going to the entropy, or to a new big bang.
and this is the first manga i see that name correctly the 4 fondamental forces (not so obvious)

@lucamarte, to add to your point, it's nice seeing a manga that tries to be smart and inject modern day math/physics theories into the story. As i am still reading, I too am cringing at some of the crap they are getting wrong, but I'm equally excited because they are making an attempt to discuss concepts most people have never heard of, let alone could give two flips about.

Dat chapter 12... Really feels like the wait will be even longer for the next one.

ugh, I hope not, but I see your point. a resolution was reached a little too quickly and peacefully. I wonder where Saburouta will take chapter 13 next? Maybe having grandfather return home? As a result, Mei decides to return home with her grandfather (as a dutiful child should)?

fuck me! I've resisted reading this manga, but now I am asking myself why I waited so long! the whole thing is ... awesome and amazing are not strong enough words to describe nor convey the levels of my excitement, but for now, they will have to of.

that whole spiel about a cat in a box in another box completely reminded me of the thought experiment Schrodinger's cat. it makes me realize that no matter how much I know, as a human I really have a very limited understanding of everything in this universe/reality, and I need to go pick up a copy of "quantum mechanics for dummies."

also, this is totally a year and 15 chapters too late, but the Marii Yukari character reminded me a bit of Michael Weiss's charactrer Jarrod in the tv series The Pretender. that character was a genius that could figure things out or pretend to be anyone just seeing them or having some basic understanding of how the operatiôn worked. actually, this manga has elements that also remind me of the TV series Quantum Leap, but that's more because Gaku/Manabu can travel across dimensions/space-time.

can ya tell I'm diggin' this? hehehehe. :-)

I can't handle what more could possible happen now that she's disappeared from the world.

she disappeared from that reality. remember, she has violated the laws of space-time many many times over. it's possible that at least one copy of her "should" still exist, and I would think that only if every instance of her existence has been removed, she would no longer "exists" in any reality/space-time/dimension going forward.

I am the only one LOVING this? And i'm not even a big fan of drama....

no my friend, you are not. I wanted to fling my tablet after reading the last few pages, but then it got me thinking, this last chapter accomplished 3 things:

1) we've been given more info into Mikage and Tomoe's family dynamics, 2) Tomoe's feelings for her sister "appear" to be leaning towards romantic, and 3) both sisters have been confessed to with very different results. And as a bonus 4) if we've all learned anything from this chapter, and to quote Gendolkari, " That's why you do your own damn mail, stop making fun of the postal service and buy some stamps " to which I say, right on!

On a different note, I beg three questions: 1) given the interaction between Mikage and her father, I wonder if he actually "did" anything to/with Mikage, Tomoe on the other hand has held a grudge against dad because she "thinks" he did something to Mikage; and 2) Tomoe looks like the dad. for that reason, if Mikage really "loves" Tomoe, did Tomoe's looks play a role in that attraction? and if it did, again I beg the question, does Mikage really "love" Tomoe, or is she conflating romantic love with familial love because Tomoe is being seen as a replacement for the father? 3) I'm having quite a hard time understanding where Tomoe's "feelings" for her sister originated. If she too has romantic feelings, did they manifest because Mikage constantly did and said things that implied I like you/I love you? if not, from where? (Personally, I still think her feelings are not romantic and are a result of the poor family structure)

I'm still in "wait and see" mode, but I keep thinking I'm missing something. Thoughts people?

Teenager rushes into a relationship that is "abnormal" to begin with (older/same sex), has second thoughts.

I fail to see how being with an older partner is abnormal.......

I agree. even as a teenager I was always attracted to older women, so I too don't follow this logic.

From the straightest definition of "abnormal" it's far from the norm to be in a relationship with someone who's a third of your age older than you.

we're probably going to agree to disagree with one another, but I humbly disagree with you comment on what is the "norm" for this reason: to say that it is unnormal for 20 y.o. to date a 30 y.o. is completely unfounded as it happens all the time. the same thing could be said when people are engaged in arranged marriages (which last i checked still do occur) where the bride is younger than the groom. finally, while it is frowned upon for young teenagers (under 18 e.g. in the US), it is not unheard of. what is ironic is that those same people that frown upon younger kids (17 and under) dating older have no problem when the kid is 18-19 dating older (hypocracy much?). what's even more ironic is that people protest greatly when the younger is a girl and the older is male, but turn many a blind eye when the opposite is true.

Add to that that the age difference is also the difference of the teenage years where you mature the most(YMMV). And a long-lasting relationship would be pretty abnormal.

now I agree with you that it would not be realistic (abnormal is not my word of choice here) for them to stay in a LTR given that Miya is just a teenager, and many teenagers are fickle when it comes to relationships.

That said I admire the protagonist for ending it before anything really painful had time to happen.

why? and who says/how do we know something painful would happen? feel free to blast this statement, but she's a teenager that is "in like" with the idea of having a boyfriend, but is confused and doesn't know what she wants. honestly, I'm shocked the story allowed her infatuation to last as long as it did, but that's another discussion.

anyhoo, love, peace, and hair grease!

jumping Jesus on a pogo stick! I must say, I have new found admiration for Mira (Peachpulsar).

The question really is did she back out because it was overwhelming, or because she wasn't a lesbian or bi in the first place? The story doesn't make the question clear, although the fact that she kept comparing the older girl to a guy ("boyfriend", looks like a guy, husky voice, sounds like a male singer she likes, etc.) suggests the latter.

In a funny way, it's sort of the opposite of Our Future Plans.

as has been mentioned by others, being a middleschooler I think her immaturity played the biggest role in her backing out, so it's immaterial whether she was overwhelmed or because she was not les/bi because both can fall under the immaturity category. for example:

initialliy, it looks like she has a genuine school girl crush on Kondou-san. so we cannot say she's big/les because it is reasonable to expect a reaction like the one Miya is displaying especially since Kondou-san is doting on her. this goes double since she is young and inexperienced in love.

now if we had to go with one, it could be argued that as the newness/shock of her crush wore off, the situation began to overwhelm Miya (ref: http://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/august_monster#16 and the next two pages), and then she was further scared by the fact that Kondou-san was not a guy. this is supported by the comments made that throughout the story where she, Miya, kept trying to compare to Kondou-san to an idealize "boyfriend".

finally, between the dialogue with her friends and the subsequent kisses, those scenes just confirms the "I'm scare, confused, and don't know what to do in this situation" which I am attributing to the fact that she is immature.

welp, that's my take on the story, but all in all, I repeat my earlier statement, I am really impressed with this doujin from Mira. I'm so used to reading smutacular (smutty + spectacular) stories, that I honestly checked to see that it was by Mira/Peachpulsar and not someone else named Mira.

anyhoo, love, peace, and hair grease!

This manga starts out slow but it gets amazing in a bit. Patience

I'd say it started way too fast...

Plot is too fast for it's own good in the beginning and doesn't let the characters breath, yeah

But once the characterization catches up it gets fucking great, just give some time for the scanlations to catch up

so in your opinion, does this remainder of this manga try to be more plot driven or character driven?

Anyway, that was a very satisfying read. :)

SoL as in Sh*t out of Luck?

SoL as in Slice of Life
