This page [https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/a_room_for_two_ch32#13] is a major milestone in the manga. Kasumi had made comments about marrying Sakurako before and about wanting to live with her, but those always seemed food driven as opposed to being specifically because of her attraction to Sakurako. But after buying her the matching necklace, then reading the section of Sakurako's psychology book about matching items being a way of expressing affection she has an "AHA!" moment, realizing that they have naturally collected matching items the entire time they've been living together without even thinking about it. In other words, she realized that they've been falling in love this entire time. So she fully understands her feelings now, as opposed to thinking she's motivated by food and convenience.

This leads to the semi-confession in the next chapter when the classmates ask her what her type is and she describes Sakurako, followed by the entirely unsubtle, full-blown confession by Sakurako, not that she hadn't already done the whole "Isn't the moon beautiful" thing earlier...

And Arisa didn't pass out... so that's progress, right?

7.5 is funny! We can't decide on anything we both like, but we both absolutely DON'T like this genre, so let's watch that as a test of courage of sorts... and they get closer as a result...

So there have already been some good discussions of this. Here's my perspective on Sayaka. I think Sayaka knows that Touko has had a crush on Yuu. I think she doesn't know how Yuu feels about Touko. She asked her about it and didn't get an answer. She knows that Yuu respects and cares about Touko, but she doesn't know to what extent.

Yeah, I had almost forgotten that Sayaka asked Yuu if she loved Touko, but then didn't really let her answer by telling her that she does. It's almost like she didn't need to hear the answer or just needed to tell Yuu how she felt and Yuu's feelings were entirely secondary.

I was a bit ticked that they were having Yuu use first names in the manga. If I recall, Touko starts calling Yuu by her first name in staid of her sir name fairly quickly, and Sayaka and Touko always use first names, but having Yuu call both of the sempais by their first names is just wrong... (Strangely they all call Maki by his sir name, I presume... At least I always figured that was his sir name.)

Both the nerdy and the dickish ones of my numerous inner selves want to insult you for your bad spelling... barely contains his laughter

Well... congratulations on being a nerdy dick... what we ALL aspire to be in life. Loser!

The order of the pages in the chapter is wrong, other than that it's an interesting chapter. Not what I was expecting... It almost seems like filler, except that Sayaka's inner thoughts have ALWAYS been important in the story. It sets up the potential for her to confess, but somehow I feel she still feels that Touko wouldn't be receptive and she'll end up stuck where she is, or, more likely, decide to confess right around the time that Touko and Yuu finally get together and back off.

So... who is she supposed to be married to and how is someone still her guardian when she's in medical school? Other than that, the rest of the story makes no sense at all either...

A very "School-Live"-esque story, complete with delusions... a bit darker...

Somehow I think the science of this is pure bullshit...

Bruh wtf? Am I the only one who thought this was messed up?

That Youko chick first confesses to our fluffy portag in middleschool but then deflects her own comment by using her BS "But we're both girls" jutsu then she meets the fluffy in present time and is like "yo sup gimme relationship advice bro, haven't seen you in years but whatevs, lemme braid your frecken hair man"

And SHE'S INTO THE male but not really male, female version of the protag???? Really????? That's such a crappy thing to do!?? And our protag is just like "meh whatevs". Am I missing something?

Well, Yae confessed to Youko and she responded to her by saying that she loved her, but they were both girls. So it was more of the "I love you, but as a friend." And they did see each other not too long ago. They went to an amusement park in the original manga... kind of a double date thing.

That bizarre dramatic interlude was worth it just for that page with Iori and her bat.

Agreed.
Good recovery, all things considered.

Exactly! And it adds a bit of depth to one of the characters in a manga that has very little depth and clarifies Iori's feelings for Minami so it's not bad at all.

@ yuri n wine As far as I know though, Cacti are a lot rarer as houseplants than regular plants. I've been in many houses in my life and only recall seeing cacti in like 2.. So unless they are super common in Japan?.. which I doubt.. then I've no idea. (I'd guess if you want a low maintenance house plant in Japan it'd be a bonsai tree).

Maybe the translator substituted cacti for something?

Nah, the original does us cacti. Typing "talk to a cactus" in google got me this video so I assume it's more of a Japanese thing.

O.... kay.... that's just strange!

I think it would have been more fitting if they didn't change back

I still stand by this

I like to imagine every time they cum together they swap I can only imagine how many times they will switch back and forth in future.

Have to make sure you go even rounds to stay yourself for the next day...

I get the gist of it, but the dialogues were confusing.

She's "odd"? How so?

I think it was supposed to be a "Sasameki Koto" like situation where everyone in the school figures out that the girl is gay and treats her like she's strange because of it. So it was kind of a mixture of tropes from other successful, much longer series.

How to ensure we both stay in the storyline without having to deal with the boring protagonist...

This gets better every chapter! I wonder who phone her, the Doctor probably??

Um... The phone said "Incoming Call Yahiro Kei" and the doctor's name was Yahiro Sensei, so... yeah... I'd say it was a pretty safe bet that the doctor was calling...

Hmmm... but the line: "What I know is that Chitose is as precious to me as I was to the person who said the exact same words to me." (referring her telling Chitose that she "really likes that part of her" in reference to her love of books) suggests that the relationship between Ayaka and someone else that is analogous to the relationship between Ayaka/Touko and Chitose... One would think that would be Touko, who she wanted to be like... but other things point toward the twin theory, especially the way she reacted at the school and the way Ayaka's classmates reacted to Chitose asking for Touko. ("Did she just say Touko?" Can someone tell her...?" "No way!")... Needless to say it's confusing at this point, but I look forward to reading more...

Not even the greatest poets could write a metaphor that convoluted Hinapi.

Proving what a nerd she is...

how does a student have this much money tho

Seriously

In chapter 1 it says that she not only has a rich family, but has made her own money trading stocks, so she's most likely a day-trader or something like that and is quite good at it.
