Redeemability has nothing to do with good writing or not.
You can have a complex evil and interesting character.
Also we can see Igarashi's role is already not that shallow. It actually gave an important reason of why Chidori loves Nanoha, and it showed that aspect of a healthy relationship.

Seems fun. Although, I don't see how one could possibly mistake that obvious woman for a man. Even if we apply the fictional bishounen trope the voice should be an immediate give away. Are there many Het women that are attracted to men that look that feminine?

I think the point with this girl is that she is gay or at least bi and doesn't realize it. Because in the begging she says that she has never been attracted to a guy before.

That isn't the point. It isn't about "saving" someone, it's about people growing and learning from their mistakes. What Igarashi did to Chidori was definitely hurtful and selfish, and Chidori is definitely justified in moving on to someone who is willing to commit to their relationship. That was the right move for her. She rejected the effort to rekindle their relationship and moved on with Nanoha. Nothing about this story suggests that Chidori should have "saved" or tried to "save" her.

I didn't say the story is trying to suggest Chidori should have helped. I say that if Igarashi gets a redemption arc, it might give the impression to some younger readers that in life these type of people are just hurt souls who are good deep down.
And I'm also not saying that we can tell for sure if Igarashi is that irredeemable person. We can't.
I was just thinking that not everyone needs a redemption in a story, and sometimes I'd personally prefer to see these characters being represented for what it is, and not ending up making everyone a good guy. Just a thing that I'd like to see more, not saying Igarashi is necessarily this type.
We can have characters being more bad than good, but also having good qualities without redeeming them in the end.

Is the script written by a high schooler?

I don't like it, too cliché and just straight out stupid.

Dropped.

At least we are past the high school getup. That alone deserves reading at least the second chapter.

You can't ask too much out the genre anyway. I swear 99% is trash but that 1% of legendaries makes up for having to grind through that much fodder.

I agree. The fact that they're in college is an improvement lol. Beggars can't be choosers, and if we're gonna have cliche set ups, at least make it not about school girls for once.

Author: Mochi Au Lait

They're not sisters? Story and art seems pretty cool. Guess we can thank the other author for that

That was stress inducing too l. Also she is clearly a girl, even that hairstyle is not something a guy with longer hair would do. Hope we get more updates soon

You guys are so nice—you look at Igarashi and see a young woman who is confused about her sexuality and who deserves a happy ending.

I’m not as nice as that. I see a tertiary character who gratuitously hurt one of the sweetest girls in all of yuri and who can fuck the fuck off.

I’ll try to follow your example and be nicer.

But not today.

I agree with you. I guess most of the people who see Igarashi as more sympathetic haven't been through a situation with someone like her to see the actual impact it has on the other person. Even if she is struggling herself with her sexuality, playing with someone like that isn't an excuse. You can struggle but not take the other person down with you. She wasn't strong enough to admit she liked Chidori which is fine on its on, but "messing" with her is pure selfish and manipulative. It's easy to fall into the trap that people like her are just hurting, but struggling and taking other down with you is not mutually exclusive.
And like I said before, in this situation she can be seen as more sympathetic, because Chidori got over it quickly because she had a good support system. Igarashi could have done way bigger of a damage to a person who wasn't as strong as Chidori. Then people wouldn't root for her as much, but since we haven't seen that happening in the manga, I guess we can brush it off and root for her only because we want more Yuri.
Sure, we might see her evolving in the future chapters, or even getting a gf. But this is rarely what happens irl. So I'd appreciate a story that doesn't always sugarcoat situations like that, and younger people who read these don't go out in life thinking that these people are just poor little souls who, with the right amount of love, will be "saved" in the end. Or that they have to "save" them.

^ don't worry, there are 26 more chapters right now and it doesn't look like its gonna end any time soon

Do you mean that the raws are 26 chapters ahead? Or that we know for sure there will be at least 26 more chapters?

I don't see any similarity with Girlfriends besides the school setting. The characters of the two mangas are very different from each other.

I can see how this can be compared to Citrus and BIY regarding the popularity, not story wise. Although it's not as popular as them, but I honestly prefer this than the other two. Bloom into you was tiring me in the first chapters, so I was never into it. Hana ni Arashi has a slow development as well, but I find the characters refreshing.

Short and tall girl, check
Short and long hair, check
Dark and blonde hair, check
Spaghetti like limbs in some panels, check
Diabetes inducing, check

Well that's like 90% of Japanese Yuri school stories though. Especially the blone-brunette pairing.

Finally...!! I actually thought we would never get to see them kissing lol. Hope from now on we start getting more tension between them too.
I was fine with them like this, because their character design is really cute, but this is even better. Although I'm not a fan of too much sexual things either, because they lose their meaning after some point. This is why this kiss had much more impact now.

Also there were like hundreds of people around. No way everyone was just looking at the fireworks. Both in the hallway and now them kissing, I think the most realistic situation is that someone saw/heard them and they'll have to come out or it's a foreshadowing of them deciding on their own to do it.

Okey im gonna say it.
I think this is the next big yuri after Bloom into You & Citrus!

We need an anime. I can feel it

Did... did they really just decide to get to it right after making their relationship a romantic one? Gee, they moved faster in one chepter than in all the previous 14 combined!

It seems pretty realistic to me in lesbian dating terms

especialy given that both have known the other was into them for like... a month now, and have been kinda pussyfooting around the issue

They've known each other for years, they just started being close more recently. So it's not exactly the same

"Makoto-san" ohhhhh ho ho ho ho...we're finally on first name basis.
Also not sure if they actually did it in the end

Doesn't that make you sick, that I finished my manga draft than care for you?" She wants that affirmation because she's insecure about the strength of their relationship to the point of automatically assuming Shimizu is flirting with the new OL

I think that makes it more complicated lol. By "doesn't that make you sick" she just meant that "aren't you upset that I care more about my manga than you?
Which is not true, but Maekawa assumes it might seem like that to Shimizu

I kinda hope that if Uta doesn't end up with Kaoru, that she and Risako start something lol.

Why not go for the maximum irony and have Kaoru end up with Risako? XD

Plot twist: Reiichi had figured Uta's feelings for Kaoru, and was trying to find an older lady who is gay and matches Uta's taste.
He thought Kaoru didn't know about Uta's feelings, so he kept his meetings with Risako a secret.

Wholesome gym girls

Hope this gets an anime eventually

My depression would be temporarily cured if that happened wow xD
But it's pretty explicit which Japs don't usually like (unless they specifically want echii which Lilt Marble isn't), and it jumps from one story to another. Also not popular enough.

I was actually thinking the other day that Hana ni Arashi is a good candidate for anime adaptation. It has everything they like in a Yuri manga. A more safe story, with school girls and quite popular.

Also I wonder if Aya is gay or bi. I'd say gay cause she has to try and be with a guy, but not sure. We need to know her story with her ex husband too and how she broke up with Risa.

I'm not sure but I think it was mentioned in an earlier chapter that she's bi?

Nah, the only character who has explicitly said something is Risa. Then Moe and Hikari obviously bi cause they had bfs but didn't seem to struggle about it like Aya with her husband.

...or the rest of the staff just aren't utterly oblivious to the continued... particular tension of their interactions. :v

Yeah but Moe was talking about dating specifically. Even if they had noticed the tension between them, they probably wouldn't be talking about dating. Moe would say something like "hey, you think Risa fancies Aya" or something. Just like right before that, Moe said that about Miyu liking the kick boxing instructor "this way".
But I mean, this is what makes the most sense imo. They could still be over right after college, then Risa and Aya being just fwb during gym, then Aya getting married etc.

Also an interesting aspect of Aya and Risa's dynamic is that, considering Aya's personality, I think she wouldn't date a woman on her own initiate. She seems pretty traditional nonetheless her preference, and into the typical marriage stuff.
We could see that she was still torn about dating Risa or not recently. Risa being persistent with her is the key of why they might end up together. If Risa wasn't like that with her, I think Aya would eventually find a husband and probably be unhappy.

So lemme see... Risa & Aya met in college, Aya had a bad first impression of Risa but Risa seduced her, then they started dating and even made those half-joke marriage vows. Then they broke up and Aya married a guy... right? Then she divorced for some reason (do we know the details? I can't recall) and after that they met again at the club. Aya was very mean and distant to Risa, but Risa seduced her again. Then... they are together now? But we dunno how serious it is this time?

Is it like that, or am I getting things mixed up?

Correct, expect the part of them being together now. They are not official because of the situation with Aya's family. Also we don't know the details of what happened with her marriage, but it is very likely her dad's situation and him wanting grandkids played a part.

My guess is, while they were still together her dad got sick (and is also possible that he is dying) so she broke up with Risa to get married and make him happy.

We don't know if they met again in the gym after breaking up, or if they were dating while working at the gym, then broke up. I think it must be the latter, because in chapter one there were already rumors of them dating (Moe and Hikari talking about it). So they must have been together at the gym too.

Just noticed, in a panel Risa said her parents have disowned her for being gay.
These two seem to have a lot of room for back story and development. Wonder if the author will dive into this issue, or how deep it will go if that happens, since this story is not about angst even when discussing serious issues.

I love this manga so much...Aya and Risa are my favorite. I've read the raws from author's twitter, but it's way better when you know what they say. I wanna see more of their past.
Also I wonder if Aya is gay or bi. I'd say gay cause she has to try and be with a guy, but not sure. We need to know her story with her ex husband too and how she broke up with Risa.

They had sex, but Risa is still in her undies. WTF?

Seems like she mostly tops with Aya. In all of their scenes, she's the one who does the deed. Also the author has said that they want to draw an ero scene with them, but is unsure whether it fits for their audience. So I guess they keep it safe with the clothes too.

As a character, Igarashi is interesting. As a person she is toxic. If this type of person launches into someone who is not strong, or doesn't have a support system, they can do so much damage. And this is willingly. She knows well what she is doing. Because people like this dont have the guts to make a move, they get a sense of fulfillment just by knowing their target hasn't moved on from them. Oftentimes, this is what hides behind the hot and cold treatment. Some bread crumbs just so the person doesn't move on. That Valentine's card was that. She wouldn't have sent it if she was more confident about Chidori's feelings for her. And if Chidori reciprocated, the push phase would begin again.

Chidori had a good friend support system and was confident enough to stop. But if it was a damaged person instead, they would get strung along and become more desperate and needy with time.

I really really doubt this will be the last time we see the "ex". She is probably here as a catalyst for them to be out.
Who knows what she will do with that information now.
