it's definitely been said before but I love the comedy of the credits page resembling the situation that the characters are in so kaori is in that field in a hospital bed. It brings some amount of levity to a story that is taking a pretty decidedly sad turn, haha
For me, the credit page is where I get the most emotional at. It's just so sad seeing such an innocent drawings depicting the reality of their situation. Something about how desolate and alone those two are in the middle of nowhere covered in fog while everything plays out gets to me. The one where they were holding hands was really sweet. But on the one where Kaori fell over and just lays there while Shizuku is just standing still, unable to help is just heartbreaking. Now we have the one where Kaori is on her deathbed with only Shizuku by her side just staring into the beyond... It's just too much. What makes it worse is that one those ones, we can't see their faces so we can only infer what they are feeling at the time. And all of this just from the credit page.
