Off topic but this manga got me wondering, where are the works about women magically turning into men? The reverse is obviously more popular, but the closest I've ever read is cross dressing to some end. If anyone has any recs I'd love to see them!

Prince Cinderella's protagonist keeps turning into a boy for half a day, but she's only concerned with others thinking she's a pervert or a cross-dresser if they were to find out (escalated by making up a male persona to approach her crush).

See You On Friday, only available in Korean, is similar to the above in that the protagonist turns male once a week (she uses it to be a boyfriend for hire) and approaches the love interest as a man.

Which Do You Prefer? is a very short femdom smut story with the female lead sex switching whenever she orgrasms during sex, and she can't find a partner who'd accept her condition.

After Midnight protagonist's family has an inhereditary condition of switching to opposite sex during the night and it suddenly develops for her and her siblings.

It Wasn't There, but Now It Is - the protagonist's crush rejects her because he's gay so she accepts sex change pills from a shady woman and becomes a new male transfer student from then on.

My Best Friend Became a Boy is an indirect case as it's not the protagonist but her "I wish she were male so she could be my boyfriend" bestie (together with a half of their all-girls school) turning into a boy.

My Girlfriend is a Real Man is similar but the protagonist is male and it's his girlfriend that changes. The protagonist goes through gay panic and the gilfriend loses some basic life skills in the process (like how to use a razor).

The Mermaid Prince has the male lead fall in love with an exhibitionist mermaid, she evaporates, to bring her back he gives away some of his lifespan, she's reborn as a man and they start living together. It's more about her having no skills in being a human.

Mahou Shoujo Ore is a What the fuck am I reading? comedy with girls becoming magical boys.

In Mao Can't Choose a Gender the protagonist's family can change sex if there's a strong desire for it, and because all the boys she's met were jerks, she ends up not wanting to be a girl anymore. Then she falls in love with her new roommate (the first decent boy she met) and discovers she can switch to and fro by kissing after he sleepwalks into her bed and she accidentally kisses him.

And why is the English title of this series "The summer you were there", while the Japanese title "君と綴るうたかた"

Both titles are Japanese (you can see the former on the covers and next to chapter titles). It's trendy to have a secondary or tertiary Latin alphabet title on the cover, be it a mere romanization, a clumsy literal translation, or a wholly unique subtitle, with a chance of it sounding natural.
The English publisher probably just chose one over the other, with a small chance of the licensor pushing for it..

That said, it's a standard practice to localize titles to fit the target language, culture or publisher's market research better, with no requirement to preserve anything from the original title.

The soda analysis is slightly longer in the novel. Wakaba wants to compromise and suggests a blend that would taste good but it's rejected because Komaki specifically wants to ruin her food. She also wonders if it means Komaki wants to be what she eats.

so I tried going to the official Japanese website and there you can find the raws (if you get their app, not sure if you can read for free) up to chapter 144 and 145 coming soon

It's published in the magazine first (available both printed and digitially), not as standalone chapters (which would compete with magazine sales). Young Gangan 2024 No.07 from 15 March has chapter 148, there was no chapter in the previous issue, and chapter 147 is from 16 February. "Out there" is up to date, too.

What's your profile pic?

It's a recolour of the cover art/animation drawn by Kamin (minillustration) for the Blackout! song by maeshima soshi and suisoh.

Ok- so ive never had to use a crutch- but dosn't it go under the arm on the side with your bad leg?

Nop~ It goes under the arm of the side of the good leg. Last week people corrected the author. So in the post after this chapter the author said sorry and thanks for the correction.

You can google it or even better ask someone with better info but is not exactly a "repleacement of the leg" but more like a help for balance without alter the natural movement in walking, and it helps so that the half of the weight goes to the crutch.

But doesn't that apply to cases where you are actually using your injured leg, thus needing the support for balance? Here she isn't using her injured leg at all (in which case I'd imagine she would benefit more from a pair of crutches rather than just the one?).

If the case is you can't use the foot at all, yes, a pair of them is needed. I don't really know for sure if Koga is able to touch with her foot tho; yes, in all panels we see Koga with the foot up, but since it says "terrible sprain"....honestly this is better analysed if it was a real person hahaha
For example: I had a sprain in which I couldn't walk but could ""touch"" the floor (tho the pain was awful) and I needed a support to walk, tho because... me hahah (Im a beast, not in the good way(?) I chose a broom and used it like a crutch hahaha And it kinda worked (note: people use a crutch. I end up with others pains later)

So basically for the case of one crutch, I think it really depends to the person and injury that is talked in the moment and the specialist

With more evidence, it does look like not adjusting the stock dual-crutch pose further after fixing the wrong arm issue, as with the crutch it's always a standing still pose (the crutch would align with the hurt leg and the foot wouldn't be raised so much while walking) and Koga isn't that careful with her foot in the panels without the crutch.

I'd like to point out being intersex does not mean having two sets of genitalia. It simply means that at birth, you have something that means you don't fall neatly into masc or femme when you're born. It can be that you have both bits, but it's also possible to have boy bits with your balls in your body, or a enlarged clitoris that makes it hard to tell if it's a boy bit or a girl bit, or that you have neither gonads, or anything in between that doesn't fit either masc or femme categories neatly.

Anyways I am sorry for bringing up the idea that the there could be a double twist of the emperor being transmasc, can we please go back to being flustered over the general

Apologies for oversimplifying it in my comment. I did consider internal anatomy and differences on genetic level (I discarded them as not something an ancient midwife or physician would be able to identify, and so not something that could come up as a plot twist), and filtered external stuff through "could it be argued (by the people of that time) looking or touching down there that the emperor is a boy (making at least some of the secrecy and reactions unwarranted)".
Inusfficient development of both could make the story into "His Majesty is Not a Girl but a Eunuch", given the setting.

The topic is fine. Things will return to flustering once the next chapter is out (or turn to complaining about the mother and bad parenting if story on emperor's childhood is continued).

Peachy

^^It'd be biased of me to recommend it since it was my first yuri anime and I probably was more lenient on it that I would be now, but I'll say that comparatively the anime is better than the manga. If you go for it, watch it when you're in mood for sad stuff, and mandatory TW: sexual assault/rape

Duplicate pairing:
https://dynasty-scans.com/pairings/kyoko_x_shinobu
https://dynasty-scans.com/pairings/kyouko_x_shinobu

Official furigana is for Kyouko (twitter, newspost), official English and Cool English is Kyoko (and so probably easier to search for). If you keep Kyoko, there's also this other pairing tag that uses Kyouko.

Well, I guess the cover spoils how the fear of cats is going to turn out...

Anyway, question to the people theorizing here: do we even have any credible confirmation of the Emperor's biological sex? I've been thinking, and for what I know they could have been born intersex or simply be transfeminine with severe dysphoria and the story would still work so far.

The series summary and the premise are based on the idea that the mother forced her daughter to lie for political gain--we've also seen her in private, heard her thoughts on the issues, and had her friend (who knows the situation) present them with a "gift" about lesbian sex etc. Beyond that, the series doesn't go into more specifics and nothing else has been hinted.

To slightly expand on these points:
The last panel of chapter 1 shows almost all of emperor's body (showing more is not possible due to the intended age rating or publisher's restrictions), it's impossible for the emperor and the empress to have children together, he's not impotent or anything adjacent, he absolutely can't reveal to anyone what's down there lest the secret is out, having both sets of genitals would make deceiving the empress much easier as he'd only have to show or use the male side, the emphasis on being empress dowager's son or empress' husband in public (including the "he" in quotation marks in chapter 9 - "他"什么性子哀家能不知道? in the original version).

Man, I can't remember anything about this, read this new chapter and it looks like an annoying thing I don't want to bother going back and reading the rest of. Am I mistaken?

Rereading just the previous chapter did it for me. It brought up enough plot stuffs from the earlier chapters to both jog my memory and add context to the newest one.

I'll be the odd one to say that I feel like this chapter was fairly straightforward...

I’m actually wondering if Michi might not just be some sort of vessel for some ritual, what with the star on her neck

Chapter 6. The star appearing on her (the first one's been under Aizawa's desk) gave Aizawa freedom to leave the classroom by following Michi around. Chapter 16. The increased range's been stretching lil Michi too thin (just keeping Aizawa in the class was already draining too). The star also works as a repellant for some things (like possessed Ange in the same chapter or Karasuma/the exorcist trying to enter the school in a conventional way in chapter 13). Chapter 17. Power transfer calligraphy. The transfer coincidentally shared with Michi Sayaka's power to whack (and kiss) ghosts.

What's with the titles?
I get that this is called "Tsumetakute Yawaraka" which means "Cold and Soft" in English.
But what does Pinky Candy Kiss has to do with anything?
Unless they meant Pink Candy Kiss, not Pinky, and it's a reference to the strawberry candy in the flashbacks?

Pinky as an adjective means somewhat pink (synonymous with pinkish), and you could say pastel pink from mixing in milk is less pink than deeper shades like rose or hot pink. How common its use is compared to the alternative spelling of pinkie the little finger doesn't matter for the gratuitous English used internally in Japan.

And likely not related, but: Pinky was a Japanese fruit-mint candy brand until 2018. They mixed a rare pink heart-shaped piece into some containers (shown here, near the bottom; according to a former employee, the production limit was no more than one heart piece per 300 normal ones) and high school girls supposedly attached superstitions to it like giving it to your crush would make the love mutual. Old ads compilation. There was a regional strawberry mint version sold in Kyushu.

Bonus: a bar in Kumamoto is now selling an author-approved strawberry milk cocktail named after the manga.

This just keeps getting more confusing. How the hell did a star get on the back of her neck.

It appeared in chapter 6 after her little version promised Aizawa in a dream to get her out of the classroom. Now it's been strengthened.

"You'd end up in the third-string." Is that a British thing? I've never heard the expression, though I can guess the meaning from the context and the picture.

First-to-third strings are sports jargon since circa 19th century, based on a more literal medieval saying about spare bow strings. Doesn't appear to be limited to a single country's English.

For social standing, it'd be sports jargon leaking through sportsmen and sport fans into colloquial use, and may be of limited spread outside their circles (not into sports myself, I don't remember encountering it before either), but it also isn't a recent fad or specifically British: urban dictionary (crude language warning), urban dictionary again, reddit examples

A temporary group has released chapter 31 on Mangadex. Wow, I had to reread some pages because I didn't catch on Kagaya Hana pulling down her mask until she started talking about love.

Character sheets were in chapter 30, pages 20-21, by the way.

^There's historically breeding prettier uniformly-colored tomatoes that hurt sugar accumulation, and gassing them with ethylene (it's used to quickly ripen easily-transported unripe green tomatoes), but I'm not sure if or how the latter affects the taste since it's also what the tomatoes produce on their own during the natural ripening process and it would be in vein of putting them in a paper bag or surrounding them with bananas).

The stores use different lighting for grocery aisles that makes food colours look more vibrant.

^If you mean keeping them on the vine till they're to be eaten, tomatoes will ripen and sweeten over time even after picking, provided it's done after the colour starts to change and you don't refrigerate them. You shouldn't notice any difference between on- and off-the-vine ripened ones in a blind test. How sweet exactly they are may depend on the size they grow to, cultivar choice, growing conditions, and one's own taste buds.

If you mean compared to store-bought tomatoes, many of them taste bland due to production-transportation-storage methods (and at least in the USA and tomato-exporting countries, due to commercial cultivars meant for long-distance shipping sacrificing the taste for durability), not because of their age.

So, a cannibal yuri with SCP tropes? I like all the little mysteries that were set up. Hopefully this threads the needle between adorable and some of the disturbing premises. For starters, why EF appears to have been maimed and decapitated before being disposed of here.

The lines look more like incision (cut-here) lines in preparation for the cutting rather than stitches.

Them being a reference to meat cut charts would be thematically fitting too, but it doesn't look like butchers engage in any actual marking.
