Oh yes, for those who are curious about the name of the magick that Maoa performed. (magick, NOT magic, it is not the same) The English translation apparently uses Vietnamese, which uses Latin alphabets, so the translation is not quite there.

The scanlation is using Chinese (Mandarin) pinyin.

You cannot really interpret the phrase as two pairs of kanji, or 3 kanjis form together and then one alone, and certainly not all four of them as a term.

There's no hard and fast rule regarding parsing, it's a made up term after all. Certainly I wouldn't treat it as four independent characters when translating this.

Edit: Having been shown the raws for this, it's clearly 誑魂命鬼 (not the other way around, that reading would make zero sense. So that's kuang hun ming gui in Chinese). And the meaning is really straightforward - "deceiving a soul, [in order to] order a ghost [around]", which ties into what the thing actually does. Parsing it any other way, especially each character independently, makes zero sense (e.g. 命 is clearly the verb "to order/command", not "life" as a noun).

I'm seeing some confusion over the story arc's unfinished status, so please see what I wrote for chapter 23 - that's still applicable. Chise went back and inserted a couple of new chapters and a new story arc (regarding the date and the play) in between what was her chapters 18 and 19. (The newest chapter in terms of sequential number is chapter 262, so yes, there's a lot more left)

I'm still confused... Can you just tell us how long it will take to get the conclusion of the system popping up? Seems like it'll take a while because not even the light novel knows? I'm so confused.

It will be resolved very soon and then the story will go back to adapting straight from the novel.

There might be a small mistake in page 7, last panel. The text says "Who would have known that Miss Li would be such a busybody?" but it should be "Miss Tang" since Li Zhixu is the one telling that to Tang Chao.

Good point. The raws actually do say Miss Li, but that's a mistake I think.

Just to be clear, for those reading the author's note - she's referring to the web novel getting published on the Ciweimao app, and this note predates and has nothing to do with the recent monetization/paywall of the manhua.
