Ah sorry, I’m here looking for another one: it was a oneshot that was a tragedy. Basically, it’s about this girl who is stuck in a purgatory of waking up in a bathtub, going to the sea to see her girlfriend for the first time in a long while, then she remembers she’s dead and hasn’t been alive for a long time. Apparently, she’s done this countless times and only remembers that she’s dead when she gets to the sea. The oneshot ends with the same bathtub scene as the beginning, indicating the cycle is about to repeat...

Looking for this yuri manga where the MC is a doctor intern and the girl she’s taking care of tries to kill herself in the first chapter, since she can’t go outside during the day to meet someone to fall in love with (she’s sensitive to sunlight or something). MC stops her and says let’s go out together. The girl agrees and creates a list of “surprisingly reasonable” (according to MC) rules to their relationship. Oh, and I remember MC and some other handsome gal were the only two doctor interns and MC’s pal has a friend who seemed to be going after MC at first (MC’s pal immediately gets jealous ahaha) but it turns out she was going after that handsome gal... dunno if this rings any bells haha... any help is greatly appreciated :)

Ok tbf I think it is a bit weird to the couple(?) generally(?) like I remember in Honey & Honey (which is like irl lgbt couple), MC suggested this and her gf was like “you have no idea how weird that is to me” ahaha. (Ofc this is just their experience; I’m not saying all couples think like this.) To me though, I don’t find it disturbing to see as a reader, though I can see why it could be.

Looking for this manga I saw yesterday where MC is interested in another gal who is a swimmer (I think they were both students)? I vaguely remember in the first chapter, MC was imagining a bunch of fishes and ocean life around her during parts of the day and as she was trying to fall asleep? Doesn’t narrow it down very much, ik, but any help at all would be great :)

I really don’t like criticizing other people’s works... I think I must do it here though. I feel like the artist said “ok what if you had a physically masculine MC with a traditionally ‘feminine’ personality and a physically feminine partner with an assertive/traditionally ‘masculine’ personality to help MC accept their true self” and then bam out came this story. Although the art is amazing, MC and Toribama-san feel like exaggerated versions of themselves (MC so overly girly, Toribama-san so overly assertive/guyish) that it makes MC seem super closed-minded and Toribama-san kinda bitchy. Overblown characters are okay if it’s for comedy, but here the mangaka is trying to be serious. I also find much of the inner monologue a bit overly poetic. Additionally, as others have mentioned, the “I didn't think it was okay to do X until she came along and told me it was okay to do X” is a rather cliche plot at this point and honestly, it feels really boring and unoriginal to read. I’ve only read the first five chapters, but I’m really trying hard not to drop it, which I don’t really want to do since I feel like I’m kinda running out of new yuri series to read and I feel like there is so much potential in the series if the characters were made right. Hopefully things improve a bit as the series continues. :)

I've only watched Citrus' anime adaptation, but it's pretty clear that there are some parallels. Both series have a gyaru and a prim and proper official (StuCo-President in Citrus, Public Morals Committee in Chasing Spica) as their leads, both Gyaru are actually rather motivated and high-performing and mainly use it as self-expression, both prim and proper officials (seem to?) have... issues regarding sexual incidents/activities in their private life, they clash pretty hard and are pretty much a "designated couple".

Edit: Oh, I wouldn't be surprised if "wholesome" is what we get by the end of the story, but you can be sure that it'll be a hot mess of high octane drama before that.

I guess it all depends on the quality of work required. Some of the touch up can be done real quick with some tools, like erasing a bit of areola, or "whiting" an area (assuming by that, they do ask to simply put a white circle/square on the ko part), but yeah, toning down nipples or slimming down a model might require more work (though it also depends on several factors).

Having worked as a graphist myself in printing industry, this gives me flashback of one of my worst job where I was required to make adjustements for cards and expected to do nearly 250 a day. Thankfully, a good chunck of that was very minor stuff and in the end, only a bit over half actually require some "real" work, but yeah, you have do dedicate your whole day to that and learn to streamline with tools as much as you can, so you can do a job in just a few minutes. But yeah, sometimes, a work is so botched up to begin with you simply can't do it fast, or it'll come back to you later with a revenge.

The number of work and the deadline is still heavy, especially for a newcomer who they probably don't really know the level of skill, but at this point, it's obvious it's intended to be an absurdly demanding job.

The language barrier is a bit novel to the yuri manga space... plus, it's amazingly executed!

Here I was thinking that I was so good for understanding a bit of the Spanish from my classes back in high school only to find out that this was not good grammar. sigh I better forget it so that I don't learn it the wrong way, thus deteriorating my Spanish skills further... xD

"Ahh yess, very cute with good feels!!" is what i felt by the end.

So, main character licked her phone while looking at a picture of her friend. Then, she actually kissed said friend while she was asleep. After that, MC had fantasies about... sexually assaulting her? Paraphrasing, but, "if she's going to hate me either way, I might as well just do it", followed by her having a fantasy about stripping and groping her childhood friend.

Maybe I'm just innocent and naïve, but all of those things sound way beyond normal, and just quickly got worse and worse. Ended up with a happy ending, but MC just seems downright creepy to me.

Then comments like these just gotta ruin it for me xD

kidding though, i like the comment section for just that reason. gives me better perspective and shows me things that completely went over my head on my first read xP

I've often come across dream scenes and they almost always feel artificial: as in, the flow of the events in the dream is too logical, making it obvious that it wasn't created subconsciously. Here, the author managed to create an atmosphere that clearly conveyed Koharu's inner feelings, while also maintaining this sort of nonsensical flow of events. Also, the feeling of being abandoned and endlessly searching for someone was one I often had in dreams as a child, so this feels very genuine to me.

Moreover, I loved how the first couple of pages seemed like a memory, but then it turned out to be a dream. Again, I've seen dreams based on memories many times in other works, but the way the memories here blended with other thoughts later on was pretty cool.

And if that wasn't enough, the cuteness of Koharu's reaction after she wakes up is undeniable!

Altering and touching up 283 high-res photos from a multi-model shoot in 10 days would be ridiculous even if she was a veteran at it. Assuming an 8-hour workday, that's like 16 minutes a photo and that's presuming she has absolutely no other duties and dedicates every moment she is there to this task. Working on photos of humans, particularly faces, is even more exacting and time-consuming since people tend to be very good at picking up on even minute nonconformities when it comes to examining the human form. Thus the work has to be done to a higher standard than most other subjects and there are a lot of corners she can't cut.

Indeed. If you add in time for lunch and without working on weekends, this is cut down to ~11.9 mins per photo. I’m pretty sure that’s nearly humanly impossible. Even if you work extra hours (say until 9/10pm) and on weekends, subtracting lunch and dinner time, you only get at most ~23.3 mins per photo. Although a bit less than double the time, that sounds still kind of hard...

@uncertain A black company is one that opperates outside the labor laws. I mean im sure the authorities often know about them and overlook them- they probably use bribes for inspections etc or just have connections, or have a cover.
I also get the impression labor laws are pretty lax in their implementation in Japan anyways.

They have terrible work conditions like youd be fired if you dont work 100+ hr a week, not getting over time or holidays, ignore health n safety rules etc- all to be more profitable. But people will work for them if they desperate for a job.

They probably pop up and get shut down a lot. I dont know how common they are but I can say i've heard of them in multiple anime and manga so not too uncommon I guess?

Like ^SpencerSDH says it almost always seems to be office work- cram 200 people at desks working 15hr+ days- doing what Ms Kobayashi refered to as the 'death march'.

Uuhf I see... 100 hours means every day, 14 hrs a day! Hardly enough time to eat and sleep...

Several people here have mentioned how this has got citrus vibes. I never read citrus but what things in common with citrus do you notice (i.e., the vibes the two share in common)? If it’s the sexually manipulative(?) Reiko, then I might sit out on this series. While I enjoy all kinds of yuri stories, my preference lies with wholesome romances, and this is basically as far away from that as possible.
