It just boils down to Japanese people not wanting to be confrontational. It's cultural. They prefer to keep things implied.

That's why they don't say "No", they say "It's going to be difficult", "Now is not a good time", "I'll think about it"...

And that's why westerners are often confused, because they don't get a clear refusal and think there's still some hope and it's immensely frustrating for everyone.

The ending isn't that terrible. Yoh rejects the guy and tells him that the one she likes is Misa. Later, she confesses to Misa, who tells her she's always seen her as her best friend and never thought of the same sex as a possible romantic partner, but she promises to consider her seriously. Bonus chapter hints that it may happen in the future, because Misa gets flustered by Yoh's rizz

It doesn't end in het at all.

Probably people think the guy should be sent to the gallows or something, but he's a pretty standard shoujo male character. I guess people lost the tolerance they had in the 2000's.

But why is she using "ore" in Aya's mind?

As a translator note, I should add that the sentence about type C is "said" by Mitsuki (or in the mind of Aya as Mitsuki would say it?) with the pronoun "ore".

Not "watashi" or even "boku", but "ore", which is very masculine. Which means maybe Aya still perceives Mitsuki as a guy? I don't remember Mitsuki ever using "ore" herself.

I don't think the usage of "ore" is innocent, but you may interpret it as you wish.

Not even sure there'll be any actual romance. We had to wait the very last chapter of Maitsuki for a kiss.

The names are actually unconventional readings of kanji, but the wordplay would have been lost in English anyway.

Tantan is written with 端々which means "Odds and Ends" or "Every".

Anne is written with 安寧 which means peace/tranquility.

What it says about the characters is up to interpretation.

Yes, it needs to be reminded that Battan isn't a yuri mangaka. And she never pretended to.

Her stories are about human relationships, not necessarily WLW. "Kakeochi Girl" and "My Sister's Friend" are less about lesbians than about life struggles, emotions, love and growing-up.

She recently published a oneshot (for the first time!) in Yuri Hime and Fatale Game seems to be geared toward relationships between women, but there's no guarantee there'll be no meaningful interactions with men.

Just enjoy the story for what it is, without expectations it'll glorify WLW, ala Sal Jiang.

well it really feels like everything is being drawn out now, short chapters with very few developments and characters making little to no progress in any meaningful direction. the art is pretty at least

It's either 36 pages every two months or 18 pages every month.

Yuri Hime is a monthly magazine.

Problem with too long between chapters is that it lowers the engagement of the readers. Especially since this series has been running for 4 years. So to maintain the interest, they have to up the frequency.

Let the author and her editor cook. We'll see where it goes.

The last page, when Kaede san said the hope to have Ai san to find her soon, it's like saying,

"I'm hoping Ai san (as the person) to find her soon" or that

"I hope my love finds me soon"

Except "Ai" in this instance, isn't written with the kanji for love, but for indigo: 藍

So the clever wordplay you imagined falls a bit flat.

I don’t know why, but black bar censoring is so funny to me. They could’ve blurred it or used thin black lines, but nope, they went with a big, bold, husky box to hide the parts. :D

I actually tried to redraw at first, so Sensei has "boobs" (without nipples) instead of black boxes, but when it came to the rest, I realized that I'm no artist, so I just said fuck it and left the boxes.

For the last SFX, it looks like a door bell, but it's maybe a phone notification, because we see her phone on the side of the bath, like a Chekhov gun. Also, there's a music note on top of it and we see notes in Aya's eyes.

Also, who could it be? Mitsuki just left.

I wasn't sure, so I left it as is.

Sorry for the censorship, but this is the only version available at the moment and I'm not a good redrawer enough to uncensor it.

Unless I’m missing context Kaede didn’t really do anything wrong during her high school and college years unless I’m critically missing something here, all of her emotional issues were totally internal and didn’t seem to have a external effect on the people around her.

Also, I don't think the people in college told her they were co-dependent. Akane just expanded her horizons and could compare how her relationship was going with how other people's relationships were and she realized (she says so herself) that her ow relationship was twisted and based on co-dependency. It just means she took a step back with some points of reference. Honest reflection on your relationship is something healthy to do.

And Kaede wasn't even sad. Just disappointed to have lost the vessel of her "life".

Love to see it, I'm excited to buy the print! Though I also hope this fan translation continues!

Actually, after I posted this chapter, someone told me that a translation had already been posted, on bato only, some time ago.

As far as I'm concerned, if it's not on MD, Dynasty and, moreover, not even mentioned on Manga-Updates, that release doesn't exist.

And after checking bato, I can tell with certainty that my version is better.
