I do love volume 8 for all the reasons there is to love about it. BUT that would probably go second for me. I have to go with 6, simply because of the way a certain part was written; from calling eachother to hangout, to just thinking of each other, solely saying each others names as the days pass leading up to the festival. The way it was written was so beautiful and touching to me, I'll never get over it.
Adachi...
Shimamura...
^^ya know the part!!!
AND COME ON that second confession was top tier, of course the first one was too, but I really liked Shimamura chasing after Adachi instead of letting her go. Adachi biting her tongue to get her words out instead of swallowing them, all while fireworks were popping off in the background. And other great various moments.
God it was great.
I do indeed know what part you're talking about friend it's also one of my favorites.
To me its especially beautiful cuz Shima was finally excited about seeing Adachi in a romantic sense, till then it had just been seeing poor Adachi be the only one invested in their time together and finally we saw Shima hoping for their reunion, beautiful indeed.
You know I always thought it was weird people said Shima had no feelings for Adachi whatsoever at that moment, like she seems pretty damn excited to me at that time, can't stop thinking about Adachi, happily talking with her, waiting to tell her what she meant in their bath together lol, like i thought it was obvious she was feeling something, especially with how detached she had been to everything till that point.
And of course following after her finally, you ain't getting away this time Adachi you coward, lol it seemed to convey, it shows how much she's learned to care for Adachi, the other times she'd ran away it always stopped at a though "ah, should I have gone after her?" But now she was getting that confession one way or another, no matter how much blood it cost.

What has been your favorite volume so far guys ? Just want to gauge what you all think so I made this strawpoll:
https://strawpoll.com/uvj8hgzos
Every volume is great and has a pretty exciting moment, I've loved each and every volume quite a bit, and me personally will go with volume 8, it's the volume where Shimamura finally realizes that yes she does love Adachi maybe not as strong as her atm but she definitely loves her, all thx to her talk with Pancho which the whole talk is just extremely interesting most of all how Shima kinda realizes she just might have always been into girls and wants to fondle some breasts.
The scene in the fog where she thinks that's what a world without Adachi would be, her instant happiness at finding her, finally acting like a loving girlfriend confirming to Adachi she was also scared without her.
And c'mon that hot spicy hot springs scene, "you want to look?" Shima doesn't fuck around guys, "look then" lol, both girls being interested was nice I like how Shima casually checks Adachi out while she's freaking out.
Not to mention we get their happy future.
Overall volume 8 is just fucking perfect, sure at the end when they're on bed together I definitely thought for a second we were getting that kiss but welp maybe the volume where that happens will top this one.
Yeah i thought the same, I'm pretty sure they mentioned the trip was at like the end of October no? So that's at least 2 months of time, and Tarumi did say she wanted to meet up right after the trip, that's definitely one of the things that I thought we were gonna see but nope, the author kinda sped that along for whatever reason.
Such an important scene, are we getting it as a flashback? Idk, maybe Shima will say she was sleepy and she's been avoiding it cuz she's been hanging out with Adachi too much?
I think they still haven't met for whatever reason, time constraints from the author lol.
I do really want to see Tarumis reaction to knowing Shima has a girlfriend, I do think Shima is gonna tell her next time she sees her, it'll be something to see how she reacts, hey maybe she doesn't mind and really only wants to be Shimas friend lol.
With Adachi being Adachi, it's hard to see Shima ever having reason to be jealous. She knows too well how Adachi is almost entirely focused on her and her alone.
Yeah but the point is that jealousy sometimes doesn't make sense, that's be all the more of an interesting point, Shima can't really understand why Adachi goes so jealous when she's just hanging out with a friend, so seeing Adachi interact with another girl and her having feelings of jealousy could help her see were Adachi is coming from.
Plus that girl has a China dress, Shimas thing as pointed out by her mom, and she's showing off to Adachi, or something lol, idk I feel like it could happen and be pretty interesting.
But yeah I guess I also don't see Adachi like giving another person the time of day, but like I said before maybe it's just something menial that gets shima going ? Like she goes, seed the other girl and asks Adachi why she never mentioned or something?
You guys think Shimamura will ever be the one being jealous? Her being her I really kinda doubted that'd happen, but then at the end of volume 9 we have that bit with her realizing she feels uncomfortable that Adachi is not giving her her full attention soooo idk it kinda made it seem like it could happen.
Is that what that girl working at Adachi's place has been building up to ? Shima going to visit her, sees another cute girl in a China dress and gets kinda jelly/worried?
Or that other girl that apparently had some admiration for Adachi ? The glasses girl that I'm pretty sure appeared in Volume 5 chapter 4 for a second.
That'd be pretty damn interesting lol, I wanna see Shima like that, it's not fair only Adachi is freaking out about Taru-chan.
You know what I truly loved about the anime special thing was that it showed us a more complete side to Shimamuras love, like from volume 8 and her talk with Pancho and her realization that she does like Adachi, even if she still has those "how far will I go with Adachi" thoughts now she's pretty clear about loving her, especially from her talk with her on volume 9 at their date but there's still some Shima hesitation there haha, from her annoying personality of overthinking everything and there's also that sense of her still being closed off about her emotions.
On the special though you can really get a sense of how far Shima has come completely accepting Adachi's love, Shima loving the little moments of affection Adachi gives her, thinking how nice it is that they're living together, thinking about how she's a wife and not wanting to be asleep to receive her "man" lol.
And well the most blatant one was when she straight up said how she now has opened up to Adachi emotionally and could be fully honest with her where before she'd have lied or joked about it, when talking about getting a dog.
It just makes me damn excited to see them get to that point god damn, speaking of which I think it's coming soon but Gons death is gonna be one hell of a chapter eh.
Also at the end when Shima says she's gonna make one of Adachi's favorite foods but then just leave us hanging lol, kinda felt like a wink from the author, like yeah Adachi the person who said her favorite meal was water has gotten a real favorite food now, look forward to it, and I gotta say bro .... I'm excited to find out what it is.
Yes, the want. But I wouldn't like it if Shima suddenly went into I want to kiss Adachi mood. Just to think about it in her usual Shimamura way. And after some thinking just go for it and find out that she actually likes it, or something. But I just imagined Adachi and Shimamura on a date, holding hands like it's the peak of relationship, and suddenly they see a couple intensively kissing. And that awkwardness. Especially with Adachi turning red as tomato and then thinking about kissing Shimamura, while glancing at her. And Shimamura picks up on that and asks her If she wants to kiss her, like nothing. Or maybe a faint blush. And pheraps that's how the first kiss could happen? It's quite fun imagining how could it go.
It also bothered me, but maybe the forehead kiss is truly the most this Adachi could handle? Maybe her brain is unconsciously ignoring those thought and feelings for her sanity.
I hope they do a kiss at least. As for more? Don't really think it's needed here. Maybe in a subtle way? Honestly, it's quite hard for me to imagine them going further than kiss.
Definitely one of the best I ever saw, especially in LNs. Like I would get the LN just for those beautiful illustration.
It is fun thinking scenarios up lol, still that's exactly why I'd like for it to be Shima to be the one to initiate the kiss, it's been building up so much to it thatd it'd be especially nice if Shima was the one that couldn't stop thinking about it.
I mean she clearly also thinks about that sort of stuff, when she talked with Pancho and was asked if shed like to feel up her breasts, she realized that, yes she did lol, it's also interesting that it was at that moment thx to Pancho she realized she was constantly thinking about how pretty girls were and yeah she was into girls.
She did actively throw those thoughts to the back of her mind though, that's whyd I like it if she was the one that couldn't stop thinking about it next, like her thinking Adachi wanted it so she starts getting more and more excited about when she'll try to do it and just ends up going for it herself.
That'd be nice.
Haha well I guess Adachi is being cautious about it, while she's always going all out she knows she needs to take it slow deep down, maybe she knew at that moment Shima wouldn't likely give her more, but things are changing, Shima is definitely getting more and more invested in the relationship and what it entails haha.
I know the author is saving that. I just meant it would be kinda funny, especially Adachi. And for them to have more thoughts like Lovers are supposed to kiss. Will we also do that? Maybe it would make them think about those sorts of thing more. I know Adachi did, but in recent chapters not that much (but maybe because we had more Shimamura POV). And yes, I know they show physical attraction, even if it's subtle. I don't want to rush anything, I trust the author knows what he is doing. It's just random thoughts of mine.
And I have to agree that Otherside Picnic LN has spectacular art.
I get you, the "Want" is what's missing hahaha you're right, the desire for it I guess especially coming from Shima, indeed i do want her to look at another couple kissing, or a show or whatever and also start wanting to partake in the activities herself, especially coming from Shima, but it's probably gonna be Adachi that initiates it as always.
Truly it's gone away recently and it does bother me a bit, especially when Adachi has had it on her mind constantly before and when they finally turned into a couple the thought kinda hasn't come back.
I do wonder how far it'll go, just a kiss? Most probably.
Right ? The covers are beautiful but some of the black and white illustrations is just like, holy fuck how many hours went into this, lol I can't help but wonder.
I get that they must think the main audience for the Blu Ray release of the anime will be established fans who already read the novels, but I find it a weird move to put a story set in the future as an extra, imagine someone who only watched the anime suddenly skipping that far ahead.
But as someone who has read the novels, it's just delightful, I was hoping we'd get more chapters set in the future and this was a very nice one. It does feel like it should just have been a regular chapter like that other future one from volume 8 since it covers an important part of Adachi and Shimamura's relationship, in fact you could pretty much add it to volume 9 and it wouldn't feel out of place.
The one thing that somewhat bothers me is that it feels like the author is holding back from showing them being more intimate, though I understand he probably doesn't want to "spoil" things like their first kiss or more by just having them be a regular occurrence in the future chapters and thus make them feel less special when they will eventually happen in the present timeline.
Hahaha well as you said they know that it'll be the hardcore fans that'll go for the blue ray, I'm actually super glad they went the route of an actually meaningful story instead of some useless fluff, caring about your core audience what a rarity.
Welp that's what it feels like indeed, all the more reason that I really want volume 10 to finally include that first kiss, but yes he's saving a lot of scenes that make the future chapters a bit grating like knowing what the mom thinks about Adachi and the whole gay relationship, it was quite unnatural she didn't mention it at all taking into account Shima was going with her overseas, their intimacy, what they ended up doing and by that I mean like if they went to college together, which I doubt, I guess they just found jobs immediately? And looked for a place to live together in the city somehow, damn there's so much I wanna see.
I'm real fucking excited for those scenes though, and indeed if it had just been shown on the future chapters without any build up it'd have lost a lot of the magic, I like how well paced things have been till now so I'm really hoping that first kiss will be as good.

Also, can't someone just give Adachi and Shimamura a yuri manga? You know, just for some kind of inspiration. Nothing hardcore, but just so they can better understand what does 'dating' actually mean.
Hahaha well the whole thing is that theirs is not exactly a normal relationship, of you're talking about them getting physical, I think the author is really saving that as an important step forward to them, it's not like it's never there as well, the while thing started with Adachi dreaming about kissing Shima after all.
And well volume 8 and the bath scene clearly showed that they both have an interest in the female body, and that's good, I really dislike it when they make the characters act like physical attraction doesn't exist and they just want a kiss, or don't even think about that, both Adachi and Shima have clearly been shown interested in each other.
The thing is Adachi has been just asking for wholesome things like getting a kiss on the forehead, hugs and such, but I do wish volume 10 has them move on those feelings more, I really want that kiss and whatever will come after.
Glad you enjoyed the Otherside Picnic manga, the novel will definitely please you, the art on the novel is also like top tier.
Woah, Otherside Picnic does really sound like something I'd enjoy. I'm really looking forward to the anime. And good to hear that yuri is picking up. Honestly, my biggest problem with light novels is the wait. I'm a patient person, but can't imagine waiting years or decades with one volume per year or two, where the progress is little to none (like in AdaShima, I'm lucky to be able to read all the nine volumes at once). But I think I'm definitely gonna buy Otherside Picnic, but not now, because I just ordered the first three volumes of Adashima, third volume of Saeki Sayaka, bought the whole Umineko VN, also Angels with Scaly Wings and the game Celeste. I really can't spend more money now. The second omnibus is coming out in August, so maybe in summer.
Currently I'm really behind with all my manga because I kind of dropped everything when I was playing Higurashi VN. So I have lot of catching up to do. But after that I am going to check it out.
For me it's not hard to pick Adachi and Shimamura as my favorite light novel because I read just very few of them. I kind of got into them this year. I read Female General and Eldest Princess and Clear and Muddy Loss of Love (which aren't LNs but whatever), read about 30 chapter of Roll Over And Die, but kind of lost my interest (was good but the romance(?) started being meh) and lastly, some years ago I read Nogi Wakaba wa Yuusha de Aru. So it's easy to pick Adashima. I usually don't like reading unless it's a physical book. But it kind of changed so now I definitely wanna read more light novels.
And I didn't hear about that manga, will have to check it out. I can't choose a favorite romance because I read lot of manga and have hard time picking favorites. Fruits Basket, Kaguya-sama or Akatsuki no Yona belong to my favorites, but I'm not sure to what extent are they considered to be romance. Now that I think about it, I considered myself to be a huge romance fan, but there isn't a single story in my favorites that got it's place for the romance. But maybe it's like that for everyone. I care more about the relationships in general than just the romantic ones. Like there is a manga Ani no Yome to Kurashiteimasu which I still can't tell whether it's a yuri bait or really a GL. But I kind of stopped caring and just hope the two girls can overcome their problems and lead a fulfilling life while supporting each other. However, there is also Hibike Euphonium with Kumiko and Reina, probably the biggest yuri bait ever. I'm still not over that one. I don't have a problem with Kumiko ending up with Shuuichi, but they made Kumiko and Reina so hella gay. Like you really can't just write it off as friends. I am a girl and have girl friends, but we are no way acting like them. Neither do the ones around me. I admit I am a little weird, but my friends, while they do get a little physical sometimes (like hug or something, though I don't know why) but never like those two. Attraction is literally written all over their faces. And I refuse to believe it's a cultural thing. So I'm kinda mad at KyoAni for making them so gay for nothing. But I still like the show and kinda ship the two.Sorry for the long post. I rarely have an opportunity to talk about these things with someone.
EDIT: Also forgot to add, that Bloom into You is easily the best yuri, because honestly most of the yuri suck. I read a lot of them and enjoy them, but hardly any can reach the level Bloom Into You did. There was Fluttering Feelings (which is webtoon but whatever) but... that one was unfortunate. It still makes me sad, knowing what happened to the author. Anyway, it's quite rare to find a high quality yuri. And one without a rushed ending. (although rushed ending are becoming quite popular nowadays in general, or maybe I'm just unlucky)
I understand about the waiting problem, but you know so many light novels come out every week that I can't even keep up with what I'm reading as is, by the time I notice a new volume of a series I like has already come out lol, of course it's sad with especially great series like AdaShima and it hits harder when you've caught up but again there's tons of good stuff out there to fill up the time between releases.
Haha that's quite a lot of purchases, welp just do it when you have the cash gal, I'm just saying it's good.
Hehe VNs are always a giant time sink so I get you, there's like 10 chapters to that right? I know they're not that long but still geez you went all out.
Well there's a ton of good novels, it's a good medium to get into I'd say, lot more fleshed out then most anime and manga, just go read the AdaShima manga lol, I mean it's good but .... The anime actually did a pretty good job as well but they just can't capture the magic of the light novel and how deeply it portrays its characters, and that's the case for 90% of adaptations, be prepared to get a while new understanding of Sayaka, her inner monologues make her even more lovable when you know all that's going through her mind, and pitiful in a way that makes you want to protect her I guess .... It's a whole new experience to really get to see a characters thoughts and thought process, and that's why I love light novels.
Female general and muddy loss eh, those Chinese type novels can also be pretty good at times, there's tons of Yuri stuff from them as well, good starting point though that author loves angst, welp at least she's a fan of happy endings even if it takes a lot to get there.
Roll over and die is good but indeed theres really no romance for a long time, they're kind of just friends for a long time, I like the world, action and character interactions there though.
Haha fruits basket and akatsuki no yona, 2 very heavy shoujo esque series and then wham Kaguya-sama a silly romcom lol, haha I'm just surprised how different one is from the others, Kaguya is easily my favorite from there though, also in my top series.
Well most people can't get a grasp on their very favorite series it's understandable, I do cuz I'm weird I guess and like to constantly look for the best I guess or something lol, I definitely value romantic relationships though, well in a romance, I hate "romance" series were they just tease the relationship but nothing happens or they just have a lackluster confession at the very end, that particular series you mentioned pissed me off quite a bit cuz of all the baiting it does lol ani no yome, and it is just bait I hate it, though its a good manga, but the baiting just gets under my skin and makes me hate it lol, if there's not a hint of romance then yeah just good relationships are fine, but when they bait you like this ? Downright insulting, and I'm a huge fan of romance, to the point I don't really read that much stuff that doesn't have romance, I need it in there even if it's subtle.
Hibike is just Kyoani being Kyoani, they're the masters of Yuri bait, especially in Hibike they actually changed a couple of scenes from the light novel where where Kumiko says she might like the dude, they also removed a scene where she goes to him and a couple of scenes that hint she likes him, and they added more scenes between Kumiko and Reina, and also upped their sexual tension, why? Welp cuz it sells of course, again KyoAni is just a master when it comes to Yuri baiting that's why I kinda hate em lol.
So yeah you're not wrong, physical stuff between friends is normal you know the casual hug and stuff, but when there's sexual tension in there you can feel it, and KyoAni deliberately added that shit, again cuz it sells lol, if you think that's bad go and watch the Hibike Bluebird movie, the 2 girls there are portrayed so fucking gay like way above Kumiko and Reina and then at the end it just ends up in the air like they don't know what being a lesbian means, it's embarrassing how much they don't want to give a Yuri ending when they build it up so much .....
Don't worry I get it, I'm the same I don't have that many people to talk to about Yuri, it's nice bouncing off ideas like this.
Also imma have to have you take back that statement I love Yuri lol, I read a ton of manga and like half of that is just pure Yuri and most of what I've read is pretty damn good, or well maybe I just have trash taste .... Nah that couldn't be, indeed shame he died while writing such a good story, god could have at least waied till he finished ....
Shimamura being pampered by Adachi and feeling all satisfied? That sounds dangerous. My head might actually blow up. I just barely survived the first sleepover and the three confessions. After that I calmed down a little, but the conversation between Shimamura and Adachin in 9 volume about their relationship did also cause my head to go haywire. So I can't imagine surviving seeing Shimamura acting spoiled.
When it comes to this novel I'm literally Adachi. Yesterday I almost called my dog Shimamura, that's how often is this story on my mind. I was never in love, but this story changed that, I guess.
Hahaha right? The author does a great job conveying the feelings of happiness from both characters so much I get just as excited up as them, which is very rare now that I think about it, usually it's just the sad or hyped up events that can bring up such emotions but here just the act of Shima feeling happy about Adachi taking her hand, or that a confession is coming, or that someone can love her so much and how happy she feels from that gets me grinning like a fool lol.
It doesn't matter how silly of a face due to extreme happiness I need to see Shima acting spoiled and feeling happy about being loved by Adachi hehe.
Hahaha well the characters are portrayed in such detail that I get you, I read a lot of novels and manga but I just can't get over this one as well, I'm always making comparisons to this now while reading other Yuri's.
I do also want more physical contact and all but I dont think the author is using it as strategy to keep readers hooked lol, I mean both Adachi and Shima are still pretty awkward about the whole lesbian thing and just recently they've started to lust after each other's bodies, Adachi has wanted physical contact but till now it's been very pure, after what happened at the shared bath though I was expecting volume 9 to have them thinking about it more, hopefully from volume 10 onwards things to in that direction? The physical part of a relationship is a big part after all.

why is everyone talking about other series in "adachi to shimamura"?lol
Not much to talk about in regards to Adachi and Shimamura right now. Oh, unless you go check sneikkimies' github, you might find a little treat that hasn't yet been uploaded here.
Oh thx for the heads up Bean hadn't noticed, I'm not usually one for promotional mini stories since they're removed from the main story and you know most of the time just pointless but I'll take any AdaShima material lol.

You know something I really want to see from volume 10 ? Shimamura feeling loved and pampered, a scene that really stayed with me and hit me hard was that one where Adachi wants her to pat her head, and Shima says something along the lines of "you know sometimes I also want to let go and be pampered/spoiled", it was volume 7 I believe? Anyone remember the exact scene lol.
Now with Adachi being more chill and sure about Shimas love, I want her to give Shima a sense of being a girl in love I guess and that she can also act spoiled around Adachi and ask for such requests, not that she has to take care of Adachi all the time.
Bloom into You is my favorite yuri manga (while AdaShima is my favorite light novel, easy solution for first places) and I bought all the volumes. And after what you said I'm really pumped up to read Saeki Sayaka. I'm gonna binge read them.
And thank you very much for those recommendations. I have read some of them, but there are a lot that I didn't.
Just recently I found out about Otherside Picnic, but I plan to watch the anime or read the manga before deciding whether it's worth buying. (but I really hope I will love it) Many say it's good so I do have some expectations (or maybe better said, I'm really curious about it)
And after what you said about Watamote, it really caught my attention. The anime looked kinda meh, so I avoided it but sorry, I can't say no to amazing character development. 70 chapters are nothing XD
Otoyomegatari does also look incredible, now I really want to read it!
Thank you for expanding my want-to-read list XD definitely gonna check them out
Np bro hope you enjoy them.
Otherside Picnic was an extremely happy surprise for me, I'd heard it was good so I went in with high expectations and it easily lived up to them and blew me away, the author does a great job setting up a tense and creepy atmosphere, I was amazed at how creeped out I was, in a good sense lol, the relationship between the two main characters is also great, their budding friendship is very nice, and volume 4 just came out and I heard that the Yuri finally picks up there, I'm very excited to read it lol.
Bro watamote is amazing if you do read it it'd be cool to hear what you think about it.
Welp I'd definitely have to concur with your statements, Adachi to Shimamura is also my favorite romance light novel, bloom into you is my favorite Yuri manga, yeah just Yuri, favorite romance needs to go to "The 100 girlfriends who really really really really really love me", pure genius, the pinnacle of a harem romcom.

I hope the tenth volume comes as soon as possible and will cover many things regarding Adachi and Shimamura (I'm especially hoping for Shimamura and Tarumi meeting, that thing seriously needs a resolution. Also some more dates, where Shimamura's feelings become more and more clear - kinda wish for something physical like a hug or maybe finally a kiss?).
Anyway, I there is something I was meaning to ask. Has any of you read other works from Hitoma Iruma? Are they as good as this? Would you recommend me something? Regarding Saeki Sayaka is already on the way, I will read them all when the final volume arrives. But I have no idea about the others. Although, I would really appreciate any kind of recommendation of novel/manga/yuri/VN (really whatever) which is similar to AdaShima. There's no need for it to be a yuri nor a romance. I just love works where the personalities and relationships of characters are explored to such a deep level. Actually, you can even suggest a book. Really, I am into whatever form of media.
I'm with you there brother I really hope the 10th volume comes out soon, it must be painful right? Having caught up with this amazing series and knowing you're now in waiting hell lol.
Indeed I also want exactly more of that more dates and more Shima POV and her also falling more in love with Adachi, like I feel like it's already there, she does love Adachi and really appreciates how her crazy honest and weirdly outgoing personality was able to make someone as detached as and lazy as her have something to look forward to everyday, but at heart she's still just as lazy lol, but it really seems like she wants to put in the effort to return Adachi's love with the same enthusiasm.
Bloom into you is a great pick-up it's just about as good as this but just be warned there's a lot of angst there, you're lucky 3rd volume just came out as that' ones the best cuz it solves everything so I definitely recommend reading all 3 of them in a row, definitely as good and character heavy as AdaShima, it has the same feel but it's all just focused on Sayaka, the thing is her thought process, decisions, and where she ends up at times makes it so sad to read through some times, I had to put it down and pace around the room a couple times lol, but volume 3 finally gives her that happy ending we all knew she deserves, she's a great character definitely my favorite from the manga so it's very happy seeing her get it in volume 3.
Denppa onna whatever I only watched the anime and I didn't really like it, it was fucking weird so can't say much about that one.
Such good character focused and very introspective series are pretty rare bro lol, well you might want to check out "Otherside Picnic" a horror, adventure kinda, Yuri, I know the genres make it seem to be all over the place but I swear it's a damn good light novel.
"Prism" it's a manga, Yuri, short and sweet but I think it does a good job developing both main characters, but on the ecchi side but I think it's damn good.
"Hana Ni Arashi" manga, yuri, it has a very slow start and the author has this annoying habit of repeating this certain line a lot, but just get through that and its very good, both main female protagonists get a lot of development and their relationship is very sweet.
"Doughnuts under a Crescent Moon" also a manga, a woman that is struggling with trying to be normal meets a woman that lives life at her own pace and starts an introspection about who she really wants to be, it's pretty fucking good, not a lot of chaps atm though, it's sweet seeing both of them realize things about themselves thx to each other.
"Kusiriya no Hitorigoto" not Yuri, historical, drama heavy, novel and manga, a girl needs to use her wit to stay alive inside a court in a feudal society, and yeah she's just a girl and from low status, it's pretty interesting seeing how she maneuvers in such a place.
"Asuperu Kanojo" romance, manga, two very weird people start a relationship, errr this one is kinda weird but it really goes in depth about both characters, idk maybe you'll like it lol.
"Watamote" manga, slice of life, I'll be honest the first 70 chapters of this manga are brutal the mc is an honest to god super awkward otaku, but from chap 70+ onwards she begins to change so much it's very amazing, it's not an unbelievable change or anything either, it's super subtle, you don't even realize when she became able to deal with situations that would have destroyed her before and she gets a bunch of amazing relationships that are very well developed, amazing character development I really love this series, but again those first 70 chaps are brutal and I get not many people want to read through them.
"Otoyomegatari" manga, welp this one is a crazy experience, the art is some of the best out there, try chap 1 and just go from there I guess.
"The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten" novel, romance, 2 characters are able to overcome certain character flaws thx to each other, both are pretty likable and I like their interactions together.
"Reign of the seven spell blades" Novel, well this one is more on the action side but the main group of characters have fantastic chemistry together, it's real damn good.
Welp I hope there's something there you like.

Thanks dude, enjoyed the first two volumes but I didn't want to plunk down anymore cash if there wasn't going to be progress, but thats pretty reassuring. Sometimes its nice to be a liiiittle spoiled just to know I'm not wasting my time, LOL.
Bro I get you, I'm exactly the same lol I always look for spoilers about the romance to know if it's worth spending my time reading a series, I just don't have the time to waste a week or so reading a series where nothing happens, or they just have a lousy confession at the end.
Bro I know what you're worried about but hear me and let you worries disappear.
While it's indeed a slow burn and you could even say that the author plays the "I know what my feelings mean now" card with Adachi like 3 times the pay off is phenomenal minimal spoilers here well like someone already said at the end of volume 6 Adachi confesses to Shima and damn it's a great confession one of my favorite ones from any romance series I love it, Adachi is still a little lost on what exactly she wants from Shima and how to phrase her confession, worried that shima might be put off with the whole lesbian thing, and Shima doesn't let her fuck around, she's direct and to the point in what they're gonna be doing, having a romantic relationship, still Adachi is really the one moving everything along, she might be very awkward and clumsy but she always pushes along to make her love come true it's super wholesome I love her lol, also from that moment on they start acting more and more as a couple and the confession really matter, not like those series where after a confession nothing really changes, nope, things start moving forward in a "we're now a couple way" it's the best
So yeah I really recommend you keep reading it, trust me your wallet won't be disappointed you'll make a 100% return in the feels department, it's well worth it.

Oh Bloom into you: Regarding Saeki Sayaka, volume 3 came out damn finally the conclusion damnnn I'm so excited hahaha, I'm a little miffed I don't have time to read it due to Christmas family stuff .... Welp I'll show my face and go back home to read it lol.
Christmas came early folks, thx a lot for the translation of volume 9 it sure was delightful, a little miffed so much of it was focused on Hino and Nagafuji but that's been part of the course it seems with last volume also half of it being weirdo parallel universe stuff.
Welp got some uncensored, unadulterated, raw handholding so there's that.
Now to wait on volume 10 .... Hope it's not that far away 1 year? Please no more then 2 years at least, especially now in such an exciting point where Shima is finally coming to terms with what she wants her relationship with Adachi to be and finally moving forward instead of her usual passive, lazy attitude.
Lots of development and big dick plays from Adachi, understandable, she finally knows that Shima is here to stay with her, a lot of people are too hard on her saying she's way too crazy or over the top when it's more like she's just scared to lose the first person she's ever connected with and it's her first time interacting with a person, she's just developing her social skills so all her little outbursts are understandable, she's really lucky Shima is so calm and understanding and now that she has a sense of security from Shima returning her affection she's able to be calm and be more cool headed which I love, while I love Shima a lot Adachi is the one driving everything forward, even if she's clumsy and makes a lot of mistakes all this is from her straightforward attitude that was able to Pierce through Shimas passive and uninterested nature.
Anyways great volume and it's gonna be sad waiting on the next one, nothing is as good as this when it comes to romance, the Yuri just makes it all the sweeter lol.
Does Japan even have same sex marriages? I'd say its not mandatory, but their life under same roof is a must, at least for a whole volume.
P.S. Thanks for the reply, its nice discussing something i really like with another person.
lol bro they are fucking weirdos, Adachi is someone that has this crippling fear and rejection of other people, it's so weird, she wants to make connections with others but at the same time she doesn't, she's scared of being hurt and decided to just push everyone away, that's made her very reclusive and kind of out of touch, Shima sees every relationship in a very weird light as well, she just does the bare minimum to appear normal but doesn't particularly like anyone and also wants to keep everyone at arm's length that along with her general laziness is fucking weird, both of them also don't really have any hobbies and are very uncomfortable with trying new things, they're fucking weird, if anything they're not weird when they are together, especially now that they're both trying to change for the better thx to being in love.
Oh weird dates like that where you thought you had a great plan but it's just shit happen bro believe that ...... Vietnam flashbacks ...... Indeed there's this feeling of realness to everything, cuz everything always goes wrong but in a good way lol.
Kinda salty they don't call themselves by their first names now that you mention it lol, that one time they did it was super wholesome though, and while I did like the alternate timelines and seeing office lady versions of them, Top Adachi power version, alien shima version, end of the world ? Versions of them I was also kinda like, c'mon dude give us more of our pair lol, like that'd make for nice after stories or something later down the line, but yeah it's nice seeing they're attracted to each other, you can't escape the laws of causality I guess.
Whoa I'm totally with you on that one, like I also loved YuuxTouka but I'll admit Sayaka was my favorite character in that series, her rendezvous with the teacher and her GF was something I really looked forward to lol she was just the sweetest girl ever I'm soooo glad she got the LNs she deserves the development and the ending she got, you'll love the novels then I'm sure.
Ohh seabed hu, indeed that VN is kind of a downer lol, well it has those angst vibes for sure, "Usagi-moku Shachiku-ka" is an awesome little comedy manga, it's pure laugh out loud moments for real, really recommend it to catch your breath after something like seabed.
Imma have to throw out Kindred Spirits on the Roof full chorus as a rec for a fantastic Yuri VN as well, it's one of my favorite Yuri works I just love all the characters, just a bunch of fun and well developed characters.
No they didn't their relationship does seem like it could go that way but they've done nothing like that till now it was just a bath, Nagafuji sure seems to want it? Though it's also hard to tell with her derpy personality, but Hino seems to want to keep their current relationship but at the same time also may be open to go gay for Nagafuji, that's what I get from them anyways.
Not officially/legally no, but in Tokyo you can get some sort of marriage certificate, meh the important thing is the ceremony itself and that they feel like theyre married I guess and churches will of course always say yes to money nowdays, either way Shima and Adachi don't seem like the type to do that, indeed I meant them living together and all, a full volume of something like that little tease of their future, not just the tip.
No problemo at all that's what the forum is here for I also really like discussing this series, if anything sorry I rant so much.
I'm due to catch up by month's end.
BV oh?, you're approaching me?

This is the best love story i ever read/watched/witnessed/experienced! Hands down.
Its just... The characters and events appears so real, so down to earth, so mundane (was that the right words?) and yet so lovable and close to heart(again, was that the right words?)
I love the attention to every small detail. I love how its starts playing with perspective for us to know how both Adachi and Shimamura see the events and world around them and ends up in a way that we don't need to peer into it any more to know what other girl feels. I love how complicated their chemistry is, how both, bright and dark sides of their personalities affect the story.
Seriously, if to compare it with to say Yagakimi(which i like too), the later seems so idealistic...
My only complaint is "come on, 8 volumes, they confessed in 6 and there are still no kisses?". Something even more physical would be appreciated.
In the end it makes +1 author whose wellbeing i'm concerned about. Long live Iruma Hitoma.
Though afterwords in the end of vol 8 scares me. Part that "it will still go on for a little while". Never -endings are bad, but its that kind of story i wish would go on and on.
Oh, and there is 1 trope that would fit perfectly into the story. I'm surprised it was never used, basically i wished we had at least 1 scene on the second floor of the gym in the future.
I feel you brother, I think a lot of us do, what's so good about this series is how realistic both characters feel, Ina completely different way from others wee we understand their goals or wants Adachi and Shima really feel alive in a sense with how into detail the author goes into them, and they're both extremely weird people so I think weirdos can really relate to them on an extremely personal level, both Shimas general apathy towards life and the way she handled her relationshisps in a kinda calculated way and Adachi's social anxiety and her self imposed isolation cuz she's both scared of opening up to other but also kind of mad at herself for being like that.
Down to earth, real, mundane yet lovable and close to heart are pretty good words to describe the work yes, the first part comes from how much we get to know Shima and Adachi and how we truly get to see them worry about every aspect of their relationship and their own personal lives, and the lovable and close to heart comes from how we see how much impact each new revelation they come to affects them, and it's all cuz we know them so we'll, like truly that first time Adachi finally said what she felt and how Shima was happy to hear it and wanted Adachi to say it correctly again to her face was just beautiful, I was screaming and super excited myself exactly cuz I knew how much that meant to Adachi and happy that Shima was ready to accept her feelings.
And again it all comes down to how much effort the author put into making both characters lol they just feel so real and indeed we get to know everything about them the good and the bad and how they mesh together.
I mean yagakimi is a different type of beast I feel like it also captures the characters pretty well for a manga the medium just doesn't allow for such an in-depth look into the characters but it still does a fantastic job I feel really captures a different type of feel and characters then usual, do to and read the Sayaka spin off novels though if you haven't already, written by the same author that does this, same level of quality and characterization, Sayaka is just such a sweetheart I love her and I'm glad she got those LNs.
Indeed the lack of physical contact is a little frustrating but this is just that type of very slow burn, it's also understandable with this two, and especially since Shima is still kind of on the fence, and Adachi is Adachi, I swear she'll do the first one on accident trying to kiss Shimas for head or something, we did get that bath scene though that was pretty nice.
I too hope this goes on for a long time and that we get to see everything lol all up to their first time and wedding even, cuz it's also my favorite love story ever.

Sorry for the very long (and probably off-topic) post. I think Monogatari's amazing and was glad for a chance to gush about it, especially since Kanbaru's my favourite character and one of the reasons I got into yuri in the first place.
Also sorry for going off-topic guys, just want to say that I understand where you're coming from and indeed we can all see your love for the series lol, you know the thing about there not being any Yuri in there was kind of a joke but a lot of people really took that shit to heart when that part came out eh ? Leaving aside the people that really wanted it just cuz "I like girls kissing" I think there's a lot of people that were extremely sad knowing that that was Kanbarus last hurrah in a sense and although Hana ends on Kanbaru on a high emotional point and having grown very much thx to everything that happened it's also very sad just leaving her there where it looks like her story is just starting, like when I watched Hana I knew chronologicaly it was like the last part of the series so I was expecting something a little more ... Idk explosive.
But that is where what you said before comes into play, monogatari doesn't just end things on a "the power of friendship mad everyone's worries disappear" but then again I really really felt sad knowing that's the last we'd see of Kanbaru and just when things were getting fucking good for her .... Idk it kinda feels like she's the character that got cucked the most out of all the girls, but I guess she is the most complex character and she had a lot of baggage .... But then again even Nadeko got a pretty good ending and you know just how much she had going on ...
I certainly don't particularly like tragedies or things of the like though and I do think people smell their own farts a bit too much when it comes to "it was all about the message, the undertones, the philosophical meaning behind it all" at times, but I do see their value and well it's also not like I just like seeing cute, fluffy, light stuff, especially not in Yuri but I do like things to at least end well after some suffering you know, I want things to go well at the end, especially if the character has grown thx to the experience.
Welp at least we got to see the kaki stride, idk why that stayed with me, so unexpected and so beautiful.
Really though? Kanbaru is one of the reasons you got into Yuri ? lol that's unexpected, it's a relatively minor thing in there, and that's something I really liked about it there was never a big show out of her being a lesbian/bi? She just happens to be.
Can't believe auto correct changed Kanbaru into Kaoru and I didn't notice, wtf is up with this thing.

Dissing a monogatari adaptation ? Tsk tsk tsk you must be tired of living son.
...... I will admit even for all my love of the monogatari series Hana really was the only one where I got a bit bored, they did Kanbaru so dirty after it was finally her time to shine the script just didn't have it's usual shine.
And there wasn't any gay shit in it ..... With Kanbaru as the main lead!!! Sacrilege all around.
