I want senpai and yumimi to actually get together. i used to think yumimi was just messing around but it seems really mutually assured destruction rn.

Pretty much this (and mutually assured destruction is s good way to put it, lol). I wasn't rooting for them for a long time, because in the grand spectrum of relationships in this manga (from "little more than a tease" with Ribbon and the manga club gremlin, to full on romance with AiChie etc) Yumimi and Nononon were in the lower end for a while, but in the past few volumes, Kishi has really propelled them to almost the top, at least in the race of couples who aren't officially together yet.

It's nice to have some more background on Khara and Shadi/Yanyan, but I kinda wish we had one fluffy chapter in between the end of the fight and this one, to give us some Aria/Ichika scenes. They were really in the background despite the new developments between them.

Finally got around to reading this - it's great!

I adore You-chan. She reminds me a lot of Hibike's Kumiko, in that neither are really your bog-standard 'good' protagonist. They're awkward and avoidant and stubborn and quick to justify things to themselves even when they know it's wrong. The difference here is that Hana is just about the opposite of Reina, and that will make You's arc, presumably, the opposite of Kumiko's (where Kumiko learned to be a 'bad' person/a villain for Reina's sake, and You is seemingly going to open up and be trusting/a 'good' person by being with Hana.

Or maybe I'm reading into things too much. You's introspection is nice, and I think the arcs so far, especially that with Kishi and Hime, while bittersweet, have been interesting and make me want to continue reading. You has already seemingly begun awakening to the beginnings of a crush on Hana, which is nice, and I think the fact that the author has already tackled - very explicitly - yuri love in the series means that they're likely not going to shy away (hopefully) when it finally comes to things between Hana and You.

I wish the chapters were a little longer, or didn't always end on such cliffhangers, but I definitely can't wait to read more.

Speaking of the wait, I've been wondering something - would you happen to know why the tank releases in Japan for this seem so behind? Volume 4 was only released in Japan back in April, but digitally we're up to volume 7. I've been trying to buy the physical volumes to support the series, but it seems so strange to have such a big gulf between them.

I'm not sure, unfortunately.

I think you can spend some Ganma in-app currency on the next chapter which is unreleased, kinda like with webtoon. Maybe that's a way to support them, if there are no tankoubons to buy. Just don't look at them and spoil yourself :P

Gotcha, thanks for the heads up about Ganma! I'm trying to learn Japanese as it is, so it's probably just better to try to make my way through the Japanese tanks as a re-read than trying to read forward. I'll just pick up the volumes as they come.

This was the most incredibly wholesome and sweet chapter. Absolutely wonderful. They're going on dates!

And on a more minor note, it kind of helps assuage the baseless fear I had that Kinnniku was going to end it after this school year.

For all the talk of panty-less Koguma, I think Hino was bra-less the whole time, judging by all the sideboob.

Hopefully Hino explores her own feelings more, and finally figures it all out

Lots of emotions in these two chapters but really, what is there to say other than that Koguma is going to give Hino a heart attack eventually, especially with that promise at the end. Literal weapons grade cuteness.

I do think it shows once more that Koguma is probably more aware of the romantic implications in both of their actions, even with her body image problems, while Hino is more aware of the more basic sexual (?) / physical nature of their relationship while still being confused about the way forward or the reason for her feelings.

Things are escalating fairly quickly! It's like they really started playing gay chicken.

I really liked the close up/the exact attention to the chest touching. Very evocative. 10/10.

Minority opinion or not, I find the talk and meta-analysis of a character being 'toxic' is useless and ultimately only makes it hard to accept these characters as fully realized and fleshed out - and that's something that Kishi has been very good at with quite a number of the characters in the series. Kaoru has especially been fleshed out, I think, and Bou-chan is moving up those ranks very quickly.

And that's why this chapter was so great, actually. Mask's admiration for Onibi has always tainted by an undercurrent of jealousy even while she clearly had a genuine respect and love for her friend. To see it all laid out, to hear it from her own lips, shows us just how much the envy has become unbearable. And to see it contrasted, in a way, against her view of Kaoru - who she feels closer to now, almost ironically, because of her actions, while Kaoru is seemingly trying to at least sort-of-kind-of become a better person...it's a really great dramatic shift and character development moment.

I think it's hard to say whether either of them, Kaoru or Bou-chan, are 'bad' people. Rolling_Loli pointed out fairly correctly that Kaoru's basically a Himbo (have we not gone all the way back around now to her basically being a value-judgment-less bimbo?); the worst things she did are fairly far in the past of the series now (her temptations towards Shizuka when she was first getting with Mio, and even further in the past, her actions following their breakup if you think that she was manipulating Shizuka and not really horribly depressed (not that i agree with the thought that she was manipulating Shizuka, but I could see the argument being made)). And Mask has done little 'wrong' outside of maybe a kind of coldness towards Kaoru - an understandable coldness on her part - or now, this awful little wish of hers towards Onibi, which, even in its awfulness, I feel is almost cute, almost wonderful, because she's taking it all so seriously and she's still, by her actions if not her words, blatantly full of admiration for Onibi...I don't know, it's all so great. Some of the best development in the series is definitely happening in and around Kaoru and Mask.

Literally cannot have enough of this series. Tongtong is great, her mother is greater, and I feel so bad for Lin Luxi. I just want more!

If you compare this chapter to one of the early ones, it's really kinda funny how much Koguma has entirely been changed by Hino's attitude - early, or even mid-series Koguma wouldn't have recommended most/any of that, even as a joke.

But the date's still gonna happen, right?
