For me, the elephant in the room for NicoMaki is Nico must graduate, and soon, and Maki is probably going to give up music and dancing, so their relationship is somewhat doomed. Alongside that, there is the huge difference between which side of the tracks they're from. With HonoNico, there is what has to be a lot of resentment lurking inside Nico that Honoka succeeded where Nico failed. Straight up, they did exactly the same thing, went through very similarly humiliating starts, and Nico was unable to keep her group together. We saw a lot of that in the "Why is Honoka the Leader?" episode. There's also a little graduation angst, but Honoka might still be into being an idol. I look forward to a HonoNico where Nico gets that out there and they deal with it.

They do have the tsundere vs ditzy but loving girl cliche dynamic, though.

Uh, I don't think NicoMaki would be doomed just by taking different paths. If their personalities click and don't change a lot through adulthood they could make it work somehow.

Re-watching K-On! I would say Tsumugi's crush on Sawako-chan is actually the most yuri part of the show, followed by Yui's for Azusa. Which makes it interesting people think Ritsu/Mio is the big couple. I guess they're the most reciprocal pair. I think Yamanaka-sensei's problem with men, even though she's beautiful and popular, is a problem Mugi can fix.

Mio and Ritsu are pretty much a married couple, just remember their class play in the second season.
But I got to admit that I re-watched K-on after whatching love love sunshine and was surprised how little Yuri K-on has in comparison.

I see no other reason than to be optimistic. Season 6 was so good from beginning to end and since they are main characters it may just be the build up climax to have them actually fall in love. I’d see that as final season finale material, ala korra.

Nene is a cunt (possibly because of something that Senpai said or did.) Deliberately going out of her way to treat Amane like trash is nothing but distasteful. Even if Nenes being pretty controlling, Kou should grow a pair and give Amane some respect or space. The bystander act doesnt work when you're at the center of it all, knowing you're actions are hurting someone you 'care' about.

It's a very interesting premise and a lot of striking visuals but a lot of the story seems like it could be solved with heart to heart, but that's probably not gonna happen until the teacher steps in because Amane's suicidal.

TLDR: Amane deserves better friends.

Most love problems can be solved like that, but IRL people tend to hide and suppress their feelings. Also they're teenagers, that's even worse. Just look at Kou, she's in this mess cause she clearly can't say no.
