If only because they don't need to in the first place. Marriage is a legal construct to turn the two spouses into family. Parents and children are family already, so marrying would be redundant.

I suppose the best end result scenario would be if they ended up evolving from their current type 2 love triangle to some form of type 8 and ultimately engage in polyamory making everyone happy.
