I really appreciate the author giving us glimpses into their lovey-dovey future to soften the blows

I'm about a fourth of the way through the novel, to where Rei is more or less forced into commitment despite her fear and quiet despair over the prospect of loving without reciprocation. The novel is actually a very powerful literary achievement. It's literature. It's not only yuri as entertainment, it is about yuri and the courage it takes to love in a hostile world. All the fun stuff is just icing.

Yeah there's so little yuri that (allegorically) seriously dives into that aspect of the gay experience. The OG novel is definitely in my all-time yuri top ten at least

Too bad the sequel cheapens it solely for the sake of M Night Shyamalan

Also they go a lot more into Rei later and basically the entire series is intended to be a lot more metaphorical for coming out in Japan and the absolutely shit gay people get treated like in Japan

That would be great...if it wasn't for Shador posting that major spoiler twist that somehow makes this a entire sci-fi story with gods, clones, and timeloops kinda making the message pretty damn pointless cause they retroactively changed that...and I don't believe that was the intention of the writer considering that spoiler was written years later afterwards. In the context of the story anyway. Obviously in real life yeah Japan has major freaking issues.

...I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, but I'm also absolutely sure that none of that stuff is in the original story.

And yeah retconning the first novel into yuri Xenogears kinda ruins its original message and themes. Author should've just left well enough alone imo

Any reason for leaving the honorifics in? Kinda distracting seeing them here when the official localization (obviously) omits them. I mean, Fodlan isn't Japan and there's other ways to convey that stuff in English

This is super cute with great art and all, but my enjoyment's tempered by how obvious of an author self-insert fantasy this is. I really hope Tatsubon isn't as miserable IRL as Tadokoro was at the start of the series, 'cause it seems to me like she's coping by writing herself the ideal GF :(

I like this series a lot, but Ayane's giraffe neck is super distracting

I hate the part in this one where the protagonist’s ribbon will get caught in a piece of machinery and she goes into a coma, and the idol waits patiently by her bed for months, but when she wakes up: amnesia.
