Though I am truly glad that Kimura has flipped her switch and is now changing tracks without any breaks, it does feel somewhat... rushed? I may be overly critical with this, so pay it little mind, but during most of the manga the reactions from Kimura's side had been extremely subtle. Overall one could garner an increasing favorability towards Hiyama, but still our Shoujo protagonist seemed to reset anyway. However since the moment when she was sick and it was pointed out that she was so happy about the matching dress she has been in utter nuclear meltdown, in ways that not even her genre assigned male crush had ever done to her. Mind you I like this development, it just feels rather sudden. Truly like a switch was flipped. I suppose this manga never was much about nuance whether it goes in one or the other direction haha

Idk, I’ve read it as, she’s starting to realize her feelings, and now that that’s happening, they’re rapidly expanding, as feelings tend to do. She’s never been very good at keeping her heart to herself, it’s just that she hasn’t had the courage to talk to the guy so he hasn’t seen how she gets. Hiyama, however, constantly approaches her, so she’s constantly forced to confront her crush.

This section was a lot less dramatic than the LN it feels like. The scene where she sees Aya meet up with the other girl hit so hard, and this conflict just seemed so muted in comparison. It’s basically the only part of the story that holds appeal for me anymore, bc the essentially assault parts are just so much worse than most other kinky/sexy yuri we have going on now. It would be cool if it went full “oh nooooo this hot mysterious lesbian in my class is having her way with me and I like iiiiit, oh no what if I give in” or if they just went full, like, grounded plot-focused romance, but the fusion between the two is really dissonant and it just comes across as a story where one of the leads just constantly violates the consent of the other and the story just wants you to ignore it. I just can’t get invested in it.

Betrayal and disappointment is like catnip to me but unfortunately it seems like there was less of that, too. All around I’m getting “meh.”

i keep coming back to this image, somehow it gives me boomer comic vibes. I think it's the face of the smug girl in the back of the first panel overemphasizing the thoroughly predictable punchline of the joke, where the point almost seems to be less about the joke itself and more about the in-group signalling, the, "we all know what's up right guise?"

Which is to say she’s very hot. We rarely get to see romance manga where one of the characters has such a developed and nuanced approach to the world. I think she’s pretty cool.
