Anyone else notice Toda' lockscreen is a picture of Tanaka in girlish cosplay? And that Tanaka said she wouldn't mind making miso soup for Toda every day?

good to know that someone noticed that too! I was eating when I read this and gosh I nearly choked reading those panels. The fact that this doesn't get tagged as subtext makes me doubt everything in my life rn lol.

Doubt your eyes most of all, friend

I LOVE THIS!! Very funny and sexy. I hope more chapters are put out soon!

They come out once a month in Yuri Hime

I wonder if it's possible to register a QR code instead of generating one? Would be a total power move to send it to knight heron :D

Rumiko Takahashi...now THERE is a name I have not read in quite some time.

You need you some Yashahime then, and what timing, the new season is about to start

The manager gag in chapter 84 feels oddly forced. Her (basically impossibly) showing up on the balcony with a direct address is a 4th wall break gag that I don't think has ever happened in the story before.

It also doesn't do any favors to gumi-san, who is looking less like the super competent character with a weird quirk and more like comedy relief

The manager character always felt really out of place in this story to me. I could understand if she showed up in a less grounded series like sasameki koto, but in this series she feels sorely out of place for being a walking bag of tropes that just kinda serves as a hamfisted plot device 80% of the time

Until this point I really felt she could have been a serious yet believably eccentric character. I've met my fair share of characters at the workplace before, and this one isn't even doing any drugs! But she doesn't have that vibe, feels out of place in this kind of story to me too :/

(Manga Aretha Franklin does it again!)

Yknow who else only says “Ah…” and “Mm…”?

Hina, of course. But Yuna would never let her draw eromanga.

It's also heartening to see Vegeta's approval of Ishino at the end there

This has such nice art. I love the 'hyperfixation(hyperappreciation?) on mundane activities and/or aspects of daily life' genre. Thank you.

Me too. Lately I've been attracted to that kind of stories.
But is there really a genre for that in literature or movies??
If anyone knows so please answer me u.u
The only thing that comes to my mind, is the ode in poetry for example Odes to Common Things by Pablo Neruda.

Not quite, unfortunately. Your best bet would be the yearly short story anthologies The O'Henry Prize Collection, Best American Short Stories, or The Pushcart Prize Best of the Small Presses. As with any anthology, the stories will be hit or miss for you. These ones are general and so will be more what you're looking for, as opposed to the themed anthologies which will be focused largely on their themes (sci fi, mystery, and identity are the other big anthologies).

Is the author ok

They're probably fine. Double suicide is a pretty old Japanese storytelling trope, though this one was a bit harder to buy into for me. It was a really fun story, but double suicides tend to be responses to extreme oppression of some sort (in stories or old accounts) or I would assume as a consequence of untreated depression in real life. The intentional use of staging and lighting in the manga makes it seem more like the author is actively exploring storytelling rather than relating their own experience with depression, and that coupled with what in my experience is an unrealistic depiction of suicide makes me think they're doing just fine and dandy

When the tags were originally being set up I was wondering if there should also be individual character tags… sometimes I feel like when Character X shows up as background to another couple’s story it adds to Character X’s development/shows another side of Character X and/or you have non romantic interactions like with Honoka and Kaoru.

I went through and managed to cover that with the mask, kaoru, Hibiki, shizuku, and mio storyline, along with the exes tag (for example in chapters were mask doesn't actually show up but Kaoru is pining). Because of how huge this story is, and how contained the chapters are, total coverage of character tags would go a long way to making it easily re-readable, but the tags are almost universally for ships. Although that would be a ridiculous amount of work.

American hot dogs are so gross, that's why all our specialty dogs have more condiments on them than actual hot dog. You could go full poor man route and cut them up in your macaroni and cheese.

Where can I buy this Death Striking? I want to run around with an aquarium strapped to my chest.

The tablet was a pretty cool gift, but it was kind of ominous that Death Striking is a long term investment. They must really love the art direction in that game.

PS Sweet Jesus on that credits page, Gouma-den. You don't get that sort of image from good Christian places on the internet

Literary analysis sometimes means you have to read between the lines

Literary analysis means you have to tie any point you make, below or on the surface of the work in question, directly to the text itself. Ain't no professor or journal will accept it otherwise. (I kid, of course. Literary journals aren't known for their rigor.) Read between the lines, but tie it back

So I guess subtext just doesn't exist?

Essentially, no, it does not. That's literally the point of subtext. "Subtext" is a fandom term wholly outside of the field and methods of literary study, likely because it's vague and used to obscure discussion. And to talk about ships and write fanfiction. It's not really a tool for established works.

And yeah, I wish it was a thing here too

But actually, they are! (assuming you live in the US) If you go to a Japanese supermarket like Mitsuwa Marketplace they do sell heated canned tea there. Its quite good ~

Oh hi, I see you live in these burbs as well. Or Hawaii. Or Cali, Jersey, or Texas. But maybe here. You can also buy the cans of tea there (or on Amazon), and heat them up yourself with hot water. It's pretty nice on a cold day, but a lot of work to heat it up yourself

What is the significance of alice dragging that bunny from the waste basket?

Her parents threw away her stuffed rabbit in an attempt to get her to grow up and stop pretending she's Alice. Now she's struggling with her feelings for Snow and trying to figure out if she is supposed to grow up and move on here or not. Turns out neither her feelings or being Alice are a phase, which is the extended metaphor people have been getting at

Off hand, does anyone know which yuri hime this was in?

Don't think I don't see you Kaimori-senpai with your phone that is clearly better than even the one I currently have

I'm gonna be so smug if I was right about the phones. So insufferably smug.

This looks like a fun manga about the rise of the industrial class. Very excited to see the means of production over the next few chapters

Well, they could also just be a class full of fans of Nine Inch Nails and Ministry

Oh damn, I didn't even consider that. It would be the best possible outcome.

Falling in love, becoming delirious, and mangling some limbs are honestly pretty classic mistakes to make in a Hell in a Cell match.

Get rid of that boomer dictionary immideatly.

If this manga is also based in the 80s, depending on how old the MCs are, they could also be boomers.

That dictionary still sucks though.

Japan doesn't really have boomers the same way America and Europe do. This would be the work of some other generation! And fie on them.
