But on the flip side, Keiko does not seem to be the person who would necessarily need the kid to be her own...she could adopt just any cute child and she'd be happy.

Yeah adopting...

Honestly, if they did get back together, I would be very disappointed in the manga, I could go as far as saying it would ruin the manga to me.

I really don't think they're going to get back together but I certainly hope so that they bump into eachother and have a discussion about the break up. The reason why they broke up was because she was unstable because she just miscarried, tis' totally understandable. But It feels like lots of thing went unsaid, because she rejected him and he had no clue what was happening. He couldn't really, Japanese men have no idea what a woman is, the haven't learned that one at school!

I digress, I think it would be beneficial for the both of the have a heart to heart talk about it went down. I know of several people who ran into exs a bit afer the dust settled and learned a lot from the experience, about themselves and about others. It's no surprise, I heard communication is key in interacting with other human beings.

It's not just Japan. There's an old joke here that goes how do you know you're from Nova Scotia? When you find myself waiting for the light to change and there's no traffic in sight. At 3 am. On Sunday night. In the rain.

Disclaimer: I am from Nova Scotia. I have actually done this.

That's different, Japanese people don't do it because rule. The newfie does it because dumb.

Pls don't kill me!

There was no traffic, no pedestrians, not even a stray animal.. Yet they they're waiting for the light to change so they can cross the street. SMH

J walking is illegal, good Japanese no break rule banzai! Actually it depends on where you live, I learned that J walking is a thing in Tokyo. But I also been told that a bunch of jogging runners stop at red lights with 0 cars in sight in many towns and cities.

The girls are respecting the rules while doing something even more bold anyhow, it's kind of funny. Public displays of affection of this nature can be frowned upon even for straight people.

Wow!! No-rae is 5'3"! My head cannon put them at 5'11" and 5'6" respectively lmao! X-S

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_height

You have to think about dem asians genetics man. Everyone you see in this webtoon is full manlet mode. Think of the guys's height compared to our protagonists.

No-Rae is actually average height. Seol-a is nearing men's average height and beats them with high heels.

Favourite mangakas... Oh lord is that difficult. I probably read a lot more non-yuri manga than most here.

But I'll try to remember on top of my head.

First I'll list the mangakas I like more than one title, then those who I enjoy 1 either because the rest is bad or because they really only have 1 real title.

Matsumoto Jiro: Freesia, Jigoku no Alice and quite alot of one shot collections.

Tsutomu Nihei: Blame, Noise, Digimortal, Biomega, Abara, Sidonia no Kishi.

Samura Hiroaki: Mainly for Blade of the Immortal and a few 1 one volume one shot collections.

Endo Hiroki: Eden it's an endless world! And All-rounder Meguru.

Irie Aki: Ran to Haiiro no Sekai and her short story collection Gunjou Gakusha.

Sakamoto Shinchi: For the amazingly visually impressive Kokou no Hito and Innocent. Just absolutely stunning.

Inoue Takakehiko: The classic Slam Dunk as well as his most recent pieces Vagabond and REAL.

Katou Motohiro: Q.E.D and C.M.B

Itoh Yu: Shut Hell and Imperial Guards.

Kei Toume: Yesterday wo Utatte, Hitsuji no Uta and short stories.

Katsuhiro Otomo: Akira, Mother Sarah and a few others.

Kaoru Mori: Emma, Shirley, Otoyomegatari.

A lot of these are graphic and contain violence of many kinds and graphic nudity, please be advised and check the Tags/Genre on MU to get a better idea if the titles are for you or not. But all the titles here are there for a reason.

I'm sure I missed a ton but this was on the top of my head. I will probably edit this sometime as well as continue the "1 manga" part of it at a later date.

Hm, I'll try to read it late, should I read Blame first?

Sure.

She's from Sidonia right...?

Yes.

Am I supposed to think Chrono being beaten up is funny? Because I don't. Pretty good doujin otherwise.

Don't you know? Men being beaten up by women is comedy.

Ah, I haven't seen this anime in ages. I prefer Noir and Madlax to the last girls with guns anime of Bee Train but it was alright.

Adachi is the master of sports+romance manga. I think I learned about the thing called Baseball because of Touch.

And about yaoi, I find the whole "balance of power" thing between the characters (seme x uke) annoying and it's difficult to find some without.

I enjoy a few BL mangas. There was one I really liked which had an age gap. Older man digging some 20s student of some sort who was sort of intellectual and naive. Which was why he felt like he should not pursue a relationship with him. The older man lived in one of those japanese style houses with a big backyard. It wasn't finished when I first read it and now I can't remember it's name.

Oh well, maybe I'll do a search or something. It had heart and was a decent slow romance for BL.

I could never get into Adachi, aside from the same face I just can't pinpoint really why I can't seem to finish readin his work. I always stop.

I was speaking of lesbian romance as whole compared to it's counterpart. It feels like it's never taken seriously by the masses. But you probably have a more in depth understanding of this than me. From an outsiders point of view that's how I see it.

I find it mildly amusing when I see two groups both convinced there side got the shorter end of the stick when it comes to representation. Don't get where the sides came from though, I just see them some times.

Well history shows that there's always a winner and a loser.

@Choco, maybe it was but I did not care to find out more posts so I could gauge the blogger's personality. It's a lot of work for clicking a link in the first place.

Am I Choco? Yay, I got a nickname for sake of convenience, this is the greatest day of my life!

Feels good to be lazy.

And having read the rest of the comments, he sounds like one of those defensive Catholics, who feel disagreeing with them is an assault on their beliefs.

I had a feeling about him, the words he choosed and all.

Yaoi manga might be, but yaoi fanfic, not so much I believe. I never saw much of it back when I was hanging with yaoi writers a lot, and "non-con" as it was called then was very niche.

Ah you're talking about yaoi fanfic. I'll take your word for it, I have no experience with JP or western yaoi fanfiction.

But then, even in manga someone here pointed out a little while back how the seme/uke roles tend to mirror the "push the girl against the wall" relationships from shoujo.

Icwutudidthar!

The articles I've read do tend to focus on fic more than doujins in any case.

Well fics are word based so a writer can make a character seem much more "complex" than he truly is.

My thoughts are it's totally irrelevant to this conversation, a much bigger topic than I want to get into at the moment, and the topic is prone to a lot of strawmanning which is a pain in the ass to deal with.

You're no fun! =P

Well, most of what I've seen doesn't seem to be too concerned with the money angle, so much as the fact that there's so little good femslash out there by comparison. Most yuri fans I've run into are mainly concerned with getting more yuri, and it's frustrating when there isn't much to be had.

That is rather troubling, isn’t it? Well, if you recall the Latin word for the capital sin of lust, luxuria, it only makes sense that such literature would become more popular the more wealthy a society becomes. Riches have ever led away from God, whether one speaks about the High Middle Ages and the Renaissance or the present day.
Still, it’s unfortunate that a Yuri manga is beating so many other manga which try to tell a genuine story rather than appeal to one’s libido!

Heh, look at this intellectual being. He doesn't understand medieval fiction is about libido as well, power fantasies and lust for blood. And I say that I as fantasy/medieval fan, I have no issues understanding the appeal but that guy is funny and trying to give himself a noble aura and purpose.

I remember reading a couple of interesting pieces on the popularity of yaoi among girls, and two things really stood out. One was the ability to see male characters in more romantic, less threatening contexts than a lot of het fiction tends to be, with a lot more focus on emotions.

I don't know how this train of thought comes about but a lot of Yaoi is rape central or "push down dat little boi and he likes it, nolube420yoloswagblazeit"
Maybe the fact they don't identify as any of the male characters compared to girls in het romance they don't feel the threatening scenarios?

I see this online quite often in forums, be it gaming, books related. The women posters would not care much of a male character that has a shitty life, but if a woman gets it bad it suddenly becomes horrific and demeaning, and they all "relate". I often ask myself why the gender of the character really matters. What's your thoughts on this?

On the lesbian point, I understand that kind of thinking from a LGBT point of view but I'm sure a lot are less than happy that they're own homosexual romance is less valuable money wise compared to male on male.

Too much praise.

What about Triplesterisk-chans face on the bottom of page 7? Let's complain about that!

Lol I noticed it as well first read around. Triplesterisk-chan confirmed reptilian overlord sleeper.

Is Skuld Skulduggery? If you're reading that and Wheel of Time, you'll have plenty to get through...

I read EXTREMELY fast, I haven't met anyone who read as fast as I do. And I did mention it was only the first book, which is quite a brick, even so I'm not taclking to entire series just yet. It will depend on how much I like it.

Anyway, Moiraine and Siuane were pillow friends in cannon. The books can't tell me that they stopped being so.

Could you not comment on character's relationship before I even met them... >_> burn the heretic!

On The Road and His Dark Materials are really good, so is The Demon In The Freezer if you like non-fiction.

So I'm back and got Skuld, Eye of the World and Vol 3 to 5 of the Walking Dead Graphic novel series. If your book hasn't been picked up fear not, with The Witcher 3 coming soon I could not read too many bricks at once.

I did check for Nezchan's Ebooks titles but to no avail, as for the romance I did not feel like I wanted romance this time around.

I've already read His dark Materials a long time a good, great series although it soes lose a bit a of steam overtime.

Finally for my guilty pleasure I took "Prince of Thorns" which look like some revenge fantasy type stuff. From what I've seen from a comment on my library page it's "rapey" the first 10 pages in. Considering the start is "royal kid gets family mother and siblings gets murdered and loses everything" I can imagine what happens.

I'll see if it's any good. At the very least the next 2 titles of the trilogy sounds cool "The King of Thorns" and "The Emperor of Thorns". Got to love good ol' payback time.
