Referencing Romeo and Juliet here is fun since GWitch as a whole is another Shakespeare reference: The Tempest. This was cute! Although hard to imagine Suletta at this point in their story being so assertive lol

That was a fun read. I think a large part of what makes the work for me is that Fujiwara is a confident butch with no anxiety about her gender expression, unlike many other girls cast as a "boy" in girls school manga. She actually wants to dress masc, she cuts her hair short and it's not portrayed as a loss or mistake, etc. It reminds me of Handsome Girl and Sheltered Girl, where the butch isn't pining for femininity and insecure about it, she just openly is who she is, even if she gets mistaken for a guy because of it.

As fun as Queen x Miko is, wouldn't that theory require Miko to be a summoned saint? The setup implied that's how these royals reproduce with the saint x princess marriage. I'd be inclined to think that the Queen's saint returned to earth at some point instead. I think the queen can still be shacking up with Miko without Miko being her baby momma.

Nah, the saints are only summoned in times of calamity, and they are then paired with the available princess at the time, but when there's no calamity no saint would be summoned and the royal would proceed to reproduce with whoever they usually do that with.

Fair, I don't think they established how long the gap between this calamity and the last one was. Possible it's longer than one generation.

Oh this was super nice, it feels so grounded and real, their feelings for each other shining through the difficulties they face very clearly.

Wow, it's like washing a hetero couple. One doing every work at home and taking care of the other and their relationship, and the other assuming that all she gets is a given and says "I love you" every three months. Yuiko deserves better.

Wouldn't be a dynasty scans forum page without casual bigotry of some kind.

Oh no, won't someone think of the poor straight people lmfao

That post wasn't demeaning to straight people, it's demeaning of lesbian couples who have any sort of division of labor. It's a stupid terrible point and they deserve to get called out for it. I'm sick and tired of seeing assholes call lesbian characters straight (or sometimes even worse, a "man with boobs") for not being perfectly balanced feminine role models. I know a lesbian couple far more "unequal" than this one, one of them does almost all the work and chores and cooking, but that's because her wife is disabled. I'd beat the ass of anyone who dared call them straight. My friend would definitely beat the ass of anyone who looked down on her marriage just because her wife doesn't do the cooking and cleaning.

Edit: also this is really cute so far. I love the image of the tower half-destroyed by nature, the way the Nana's head almost got too big so they deflated her by making her allergic to any magic not from her wife, and how the other summoned saint was actually cool and congratulated Nana for the breakthrough.

What ever happened to this series? I just discovered it and found it really interesting, especially with the fairly unique character designs, only to find it hasn't been updated in two years. Did the creators go back on haitus after just one chapter?

Honestly this mostly stuck out to me as euthanasia commentary, with dashes of yuri and sci-fi handwavery.

This would be so much better as a focused story on euthanasia without the sci fi nonsense choking the emotional relatability imo. There's no need for an apocalypse to have a story about loving someone who wants to die, as many people who have ever dated with depression could tell the author if they asked. Shoving all this nonsense about the moon and reproduction and government policies and zombies in our faces before we jump right into "I killed her" and only THEN actually introducing our characters could not blunt that emotional edge any harder. Might as well magically have the dead girlfriend get better and have a HEA at that point.

Wow thanks for the bulk upload!! I missed this series. I could really do without the little sister plotline though, she kind of sours the series for me. The chapters with the main couple are so good that I can overlook it though. I really can't think of another yuri that does bdsm this well, its so fun to read.

I like the emotional element of the story with Momono, but for the SM I'd much rather she kept her clothes on and we could see more of those delightful hot gay moms instead. I hope we get more of them, because obviously that's a story that isn't finished yet.
It's also kinda strange feeling that we're still in the same week and a half from the beginning of the series, and they're even lampshading that now with "it feels like it's been much longer" comments. I hope we get a jump forward with the story continuing as well, to show their course as adults following in the footsteps of their mothers or, hopefully, blazing their own path together instead. As much as we might not want to admit it, Momono's right to be skeptical about the durability of a first love romance, kids get separated easily, just like what happened to them 10 years ago, and what happened to their mothers. IRL I don't know a single queer person who has any ongoing connection with who they liked as a teenager. Our protagonists will have to really work to make it last and that's an interesting story imo.

I think it would be pretty absurd to end on a tragedy in a manga with as cutesy and soft of a title as "My Cute Little Kitten". So I'm guessing it's all psychological and temporary they just need to finally properly talk

Yeonhwa from the Korean erotic thriller manhwa White Angels Get No Rest (read content warnings/tags before trying out this one).

Yes, absolutely be sure to do that. Read them twice, maybe.

But also it can be worth pushing yourself past your limits for it, I certainly don't regret reading it despite not liking that sort of content at all normally.

I was not expecting to see a meticulously drawn image of Ririka's piss stained cunny

I was also really taken back by that, since so far the author's been pretty good about toeing that line of going too far, but in this specific circumstance I think it's necessary to demonstrate the inappropriate way Ririka's older sister was looking at her in that moment. If it weren't for that detail I doubt many readers would be interpreting her motivation as being sexually influenced right now.

This really became a story about the darker side of autistic yuri with this chapter, huh. ADHD yuri is currently looking much more capable by comparison, I wonder if after this arc we'll see her darker side too lol

I saw this title a couple times and thought it might be a "Walk in Death" doujinshi or something. I guess this is good too though.

Some other less obvious examples of characters who explicitly address being a lesbian or wlw instead of being single-person-sexual or leaving their sexuality unstated.
Toriko from Otherside Picnic.
Fuuko from My Girlfriend's Not Here Today.
Most of the cis girl side characters in Boku Girl.
Contrary to what you'd expect from the title, at least half a dozen girls in Sorry but I'm Not Into Yuri.
Misa from A Face You Shouldn't Show.
The main character of A Lying Bride's Case for Same-Sex Marriage.
Ruka from Convenient Semi-Friend.
Momoka from The Real Momoka.
Almost the entire major female cast of Murcielago.
The central bi4bi F/F couple in Ohana Holoholo.
Yeonhwa from the Korean erotic thriller manhwa White Angels Get No Rest (read content warnings/tags before trying out this one).

Yes, I post this because I want to see main character either coming out, or at least coming into terms with their sexual orientation. Loving a specific person of the same sex just does not fly. The majority of the suggestions here that have been given I have already read them, or partially read them. Maria-holic can be considered not a Yuri, Shimanami Tasogare does not fit anywhere other than in a category of its own (LGBT), It's a Detached Relationship does have a proper self-aware lesbian main couple (and side character). Almost all of Takemiya JIn's characters are out publicaly, socially, or at least to themselves (thus we have lots of bar scenes).
The whole point is to find example that mimics "real life". Its like in fragments of love the main character explained to the side character as to why they are gay, and essentially there is no answer to it, being gay is being gay, that is the reason.
Please post some more examples so that I can catch up on what I miss....

I'm confused as to why you'd disqualify Our Dreams At Dusk like that given it fits your criteria stated in the same post: it's got a lesbian couple who are very explicit about being lesbians and talk a lot about possibly coming out to their parents. That's as "real life" as it gets.

I just noticed the front and back covers of volume 8 connect, showing Satsuki and Komachi holding hands with interlaced fingers. Volume 9 has the same artwork but reversed so who's on front and who's in back are swapped.

Fun fact: The Earth's moon has no magnetic field because its metal core has long since cooled down and stopped spinning. As far as we know, magnetic fields have no tangible effect on human reproduction (gravitational fields, on the other hand... let's just say it's hard to have sex when your entire continent is flooded by high tides). And even if the Moon's orbit suddenly began to decay at the stated rate (ca. 384.4 km/year), it would have hit the Roche limit and disintegrated into an asteroid ring around Earth 38 years before the manga even took place.

I am sorry to all the catgirls who died when I brought real physics into a fantasy manga, but I am supremely peeved by sloppy worldbuiding from an author pitched to me as a "fantasy genius".

The moon suddenly started moving towards the earth all on its own, so obviously it changed. Maybe it's got a magical magnetic field and is as immortal as a zombie now and thus will not break up in the atmosphere.

...But there's nothing that I can think of to justify how there's a difference remaining between "living human" and "zombie" as a line between our star-crossed lovers when people stopped giving birth a millennium ago. Is the main character of this comic one thousand years old and still "living"??
(Also a falling billboard accident feels so cartoony lmao)
This kinda fell flat for me emotionally because there's no buildup to the choice to murder her zombie friend. Pacing-wise this kinda fell like it was trying to do too much in too few pages. It doesn't help that I just read a much much more effective one-shot about lesbian tragedy that accomplished far more than this in just 8 pages instead of 30, so this manga inevitably falters in the comparison.
https://dynasty-scans.com/chapters/me_and_her_are

Ironically, the comment section for "Me and Her are ..." is the exact opposite of this one, with a bunch of people complaining because the story doesn't explain anything. They're wrong though it's good BECAUSE it refuses to explain anything. The main character doesn't know what's happening to her so you don't get to know either.

Blimey! I didn't think Satsuki was that much taller than Komako. Did Satsuki get even taller after High School? Komako must've shrunk or remained the same size. In any case, that picture of them in the chair is adorable. One of my favourite relationship dynamics is "tall and small", and those two pull it off splendidly.

Would've been nice if Satsuki's old man got knocked upside the head.

Oh well, at least the prez is still dead. Still waiting on Sayo to pull her head out of her ass.

Satsuki's consistently been a head or more taller than every other character except her dad in the series. Akira and Komachi both make Satsuki look like a giant in comparison when they're standing next to each other lol.

Seifuku no Vampiress Lord by Matsumoto Tomoki. A male vampire converts a teenage girl only to find she has zero interest in him because she's a lesbian who already has a girlfriend.
https://dynasty-scans.com/series/seifuku_no_vampiress_lord

As great as the series is, no, she does not already have a girlfriend, the (accidental) confession comes quite a bit later, and she is also rather surprised by the revelation that her taste in blood also indicates her orientation. She does accept the fact quite easily, though, and from then on...

Sorry, I didn't reread it before recommending to nail down the specifics. But like her girlfriend is unofficially her girlfriend at the start of the series anyway.

As far as I can find Matsumoto Tomoki hasn't written anything else since this story ended in 2017 in a way that seems like was terribly stressful for her, which is sad. I hope she can pair up with a good artist so she can write and let someone else handle drawing the girls since her artistic process seems unpleasant for her but her writing is S+ quality imo.

Ya I just started reading and she accepts it super quick lol. Hell...she practically dives into it as she finds out in at the end of Ch. 3 that she prefers girls and then spends all of Ch. 4 admiring the different girls at her school.
Really liking this one so far. It's pretty damn funny even without the yuri. But of course the yuri puts it over the top.

This has turned into a damn good recommendation thread.

It's nice to see people appreciate those early chapters because at the time the dynasty comments were all arguing about if it's REALLY yuri because a guy exists, and for some reason death of the author and politics and stuff?? It's very confusing looking back at it lmao

What is with the "I don't like girls, I just like this girl" thing that constantly pops up in manga? Feels borderline lesbophobic.

It absolutely is, but that's why her gf reacts by going "bitch you need to read more and learn what words mean." It's not the manga forwarding a lesbophobic trope, it's this specific character buying into lesbophobic ideas in pop culture without realizing that's what she's doing, and getting immediately (indirectly lol) told off for it by her girlfriend.
To expand on this a bit: The "I'm not a lesbian I'm just into one specific girl" trope is not actually about claiming the character isn't a lesbian, but rather disconnecting her from lesbophobic stereotypes. It's the author saying "she's not some psycho nympho predator who treats women like straight men treats women she's a nice pure girl in love". This is unfortunately a pattern that sometimes real actual lesbians do to themselves out of internalized lesbophobia, fearing that coming out would mean being seen as a predator by other women. Happens to some gay men and trans people, too. This is why the girlfriend responds that this is a problem of a lack of proper education. I'm sure she's got some very good literature on the subject of gay pride and lesbian identity she can recommend :)

Here's some curveballs:
Murcielago by Yoshimurakana. You want no excuses then this protagonist is the best lesbian on earth. They even joke about this with her girlfriend, who at one point insists she's NOT a lesbian and only loves her gf for who she is... but later says she wouldn't date her if she were a man because then she wouldn't have boobs. The person she's talking to in both scenes thinks "yeah you're obviously a lesbian". This is an officially licensed series.

Romance Girls File by Akiko Morishima is about two adult lesbians working as mentors for two teenagers, it's really cute.

"How Do We Relationship" is a funny example because there's a scene where the protagonists both claim to be bi while teasingly accusing each other of being lesbian, and then they both separately look at a male friend and go "....nahhhh, they really can't compare to being with women..."
