It also reminds me of other manga like Still Sick. It must be a thing, for gay women that are in the otaku sphere to like, try to live just through fantasy situations. I mean shit, I definitely do/have done some of that myself. But that image you get of someone else's mind that they've so desperately cut off the possibility of being attracted to anyone in reality to hold their pain inside and protect themselves... it's really tragic. It always makes me want to give them a hug and do some queer mentoring lmao.

I think for me the serial manga side of things where she's observing and building yuri in the school hasn't been that interesting to me, and I don't think it's been particularly well-integrated into the honest, emotional side of things. Even this last chapter, it felt like the entire emotional side of the story was just set down so we could do some more of the yuri watching conceit, and then that was set down for the emotional story to pick back up. They don't weave together. Like the dynamic between the two leads is absolutely fantastic and feels so grounded and real, especially on yoshioka's end slowly and openly coming to terms with her attraction to another girl, but we've only started seeing the same depth on our MC's side in the past couple chapters, it feels like, and that seems to me like kind of a missed opportunity. I can see how having a fairly shallow, episodic manga side of things from the MC's end could be an artistic tool to show how much of her own soul she's left behind by cutting off her genuine attraction to girls and living in a fantasy world, only to break into something more nuanced, connected, and emotional as she's pulled back into a starring role in her own life and overcomes her trauma, but for that genre-representing-psychology view of things I would have expected her yuri shipping to start to collapse and slip into something else as her comfort zone at the bottom of the well is challenged. I just don't see that happening, they seem to be remaining discrete, and I think that's kind of a shame.

The main ship is just so good and adorable, now that yoshioka isn't entirely being ignored, and yoshioka herself has been such a good character that it carries that missed potential and I still really like and look forward to new chapters of this story anyway.

God this story is a rising fave now. I adore the angsty mixed messages and complicated feelings and seeing the cold, dark and emotionally wounded villainess lady feeling warmth and adoration for Natori (who is, herself, adorable and precious and I want her to succeed from the depths of my heart because she deserves it) is so satisfying, I could read yuri with that premise for the rest of my life and never get sick of it.

But OMG I fucking love the angle where Diana has this deep, almost obsessive infatuation with Natori too. God, I love it when the "good girl" has really strong, almost violent feelings that clash with her typical bearing. Her determination to protect Natori is already really attractive, but the jealousy and inner darkness that seems to be coming out just makes it so much more deliciously dramatic in my favorite ways.

This manga is like a master chef made one of my favorite dishes tuned exactly to my tastes but then told me I can only have one bite a month. Gahhhh I just want to see the next chapter already!!! The whole story even!!

The date chapter was so fucking adorable and the nervous tension and attraction between them was really hot and exciting. All the buildup makes this hit so much harder, like I would never've guessed that we'd end up here and something about that feels more exciting and unpredictable in a way that's sort of like the nerves you get asking someone out IRL.

I mean, this chapter does nothing to advance the plot; it's like on an entirely arbitrary whim she decided to do a random side story about a minor secondary character. Isn't there an implication that Chu Chu likes Tang Chao? The angles of her watching the MCs interact seem like that to me. It's like she's realizing Tang Chao likes Li based on the last chapter and this one. And so she remembered that incident from her childhood where she's giving up something to someone else as she feels it's happening again. The end seems to imply she might want to act on her desires this time around.

At least, that's how I read this chapter.

Right, I think the issue being raised here is whether she should give up her crush. That's an issue that gets complicated when people have spent a lot of your life pressuring you into similar acts that weren't good for you. I know from experience that even when something is more clear cut than this and it's obviously better for you to do the thing, you can be resistant to doing it if people have pressured you into it in a hurtful way throughout your life.
