More than Alice x Patchouli (which I do love), it's the ongoing subtle Shanghai x Koakuma that appears so often in Millet Soup's works that really grabs me.

Agreed. I also quite like Yohane's Marisa X Shanghai, which makes me wonder if it's not just the allure of miniature characters in relationships with normal-sized characters. There's something indescribably adorable about it... I think the size difference restricts the physical aspect of the relationship, and what's left has a far more endearing 'love despite' feel to it.

But then, I just love over-analyzing things to sound clever. When the chips are down, Millet Soup still makes me squee like a young girl who was just given a pony.

Harsh words, but not altogether inaccurate. I think Force's greatest failing was the frankly insane levels of game-breaking abilities and upgrades. The character designs were more mecha than character, particularly Vita and Nanoha, and whereas the 'anti magic' field of StrikerS was a decent way of suppressing Nanoha's more curb-stomping tendencies, the 'immune to magic, most physical damage, and also immortal' villains were just ridiculous. I actually really did like the main character, Thoma, and felt like his relationship with Lily was well written, but it almost would have worked better as an unrelated side story in the same style as the sound stages; the inclusion of Nanoha characters was almost beside the point.

As much as I love Nanoha, between the Vivid and Innocent series, I wonder if it's not losing track of it's tone. It's strength was always in the SERIOUS BUSINESS nature of the plot and characters, after all.

I still support the creation of a 'tantalizingly close to yuri' tag.

I don't know why, but 'bathtube' had me laughing for a solid five minutes.

I assumed it was due to their similar personalities and roles as servants, but then, we never see a Reisen Sakuya ship, so who knows. I feel like I could write some kind of thesis on touhou ships. It's a field worth studying.

Gotta love the Sasameki Koto and R.O.D. references. R.O.D. was one of my favorite lesser-known subtext-heavy series, even when the plot began to go a little off the rails, and Sasameki Koto is still my favorite out-and-out yuri fic, the perfect balance between character driven drama and comedy.

Yep, that's Yakumi Sarai for ya. I've never been a fan of how quickly their doujins shift their tone, personally. In this case, it goes from lighthearted to drama to crying blood and hellfire to creepy and back to lighthearted. I can't get a fix on Suwako's personality, either, given that she apparently enjoys occasionally decimating a village with fire, but is still supposed to garner sympathy.

Ouch, that was a powerful punch to the gut.

That would be an interesting story though, Akagi or Kaga being turned into an Abyssal and retaining her memories/personality :D

Kind of like Dark Sakura and Saber Alter from Fate Stay/Night, where there's just enough original personality to want to be defeated, but still decidedly evil on the surface.

I feel like someone misplaced the rest of the doujin, but had a deadline.

Another tragic case of Temporary Hentai-Induced Paralysis renders Yui helpless against her attackers! At least at first. After that it gets pretty consensual pretty quick. In Yuyushiki's case, this whole thing is probably pretty accurate. Every episode is inches away from a threesome.

Well, now that I'm done crying quietly to myself!

I've always been a fan of Liarsoft, after the wonderful Sekiin no Inganock, and the art style in Yurirei (Kindred Spirits) is my brand of soft and casual. Although I see that it's being decried as the harbinger of erotic content on Steam, from what I've seen the visual novel itself is quite tame, and the sex scenes themselves are tasteful, infrequent, and very late in the game. Compared to Sono Hanabira, which is adorable but unrealistically fluffy, Yurirei is far more character driven, and not so heavy handed with it's romance.

Basically, it seems like it's the perfect game for me!

LET'S ALL BE CHILL ABOUT THIS.

Edit: Actually, that's a well-done tsundere. It's subtle support, (at least at first,) but Nico treats Hanayo quite nicely. I get the sense that Nico doesn't currently have any feelings for Hanayo, and that this is more of a 'Eh, what's the worst that could happen' kind of mentality. It's a very casual approach to romance, but fitting. Maki X Rin seems a little out of place and sudden, but they aren't the focus of the story anyway, so I assume there was plenty of off-screen buildup that Hanayo didn't see.
