This really makes me love the Nazrin x Shou pairing, a lot more than I did before. This was so cute!

I can tell from the title alone that this is going to be great. That, and the fact that it's by Takemiya Jin, of course.

Edit: Wait, no, nevermind. I don't really like cliffhangers...I mean this was still nice, but I was kind of expecting more of a humorous theme to the story considering the title. Now I'm going to feel bad until the resolution...

This is just what people think, so if what they think is different or wrong to you that's fine. To be honest, I don't really care about what people consider to be truly "yuri" or not, but I'm following the discussion because it's pretty amusing to a point.

To be honest, it's not that I'm upset at anything. In truth, I really do find this discussion interesting - I didn't mean to sound disparaging with my previous post, and looking back at it it kinda was so sorry about that. Yuri truly is Serious Business.

As for my two cents, I think of yuri as a genre describing women being romantically or sexually involved with other women. If the work features bisexual women but the primary focus is between female/female relations, I think I'd consider that yuri as well. I don't think one would consider a work that includes a female/female relation but isn't the main focus of the story to be yuri, but your mileage may vary.

As to whether non-Japanese works can be yuri, in my opinion that's highly subjective to each person, similarly to whether someone someone would consider an anime-styled cartoon to really be anime or not, but probably in a less broad fashion. For example, you would definitely not consider Adventure Time to be an anime, but you could consider the Marceline/Bubblegum to be yuri - it just depends on how restrictive one's definition of yuri is.

I'm not really sure if the Japanese have an "official" definition to what yuri is, though. All of the above is just what I consider yuri, and is probably different from what others think. Hopefully this all makes sense!

If a friend that doesn't know anything about anime or manga or etc at all asks what Yuri is, how would you describe it?

When I said "same thing", I didn't mean the Japanese definition of the word "shoujo-ai" which I know is NOT the same as yuri and means "liking young girls", sorry for the confusion.

Sorry, what I meant was that what westerners call shoujo ai is the same thing, right?

This was a cute one and I absolutely worship Takemiya, but I can't help but feel like all the idol and anime references bogged down the story. Maybe it's meant to be geared towards those fans, like recchuun above, but it feels weird when all of her other work is so general-audience. It's like reading annotated Shakespeare with all the footnotes at the bottom of the page.

To be honest, this had a lot less idol references than I was expecting lol. It didn't bother me that much, but to each their own.

The idol fever is truly infectious - not that that's an altogether bad thing. By the way, we don't have the "Looking at You Turns Me On" work on the site, do we? Because that really sounds hilarious.

So I was still thinking about smash stuff, and I remembered it was mentioned that Bayonetta won out of all of the "realizable" characters. So I'm thinking that maybe, just maybe, Snake was actually the winner but due to all of the shit that's going down with Konami and Hideo Kojima that they just couldn't include him. What does everyone else think? Also can someone give me a summary of what exactly happened there? Whatever it was, it seems quite messy.

It is canon that Tatsumaki has something of a sister complex, though.

Ah, this is quite sad. Although I'm still slightly confused as to why Yukari can't see Reimu in the afterlife, I can accept that she can't. I do think it's sweet, or bittersweet rather, how Yukari says that she's had countless meetings and partings but Reimu's has stuck with her the most.

There really was so much to love about this chapter, from the reaction faces to Yuki being jealous to Yata getting embarrassed - all great stuff.

I've always wondered why in Touhou works like these where one character gets old and dies to leave their immortal partner (ie Alice/Marisa, Mokou/Keine, Yukari/Reimu, etc) that they just can't come back as a ghost to see them, though. Maybe it's because the souls of the humans aren't really allowed to come back as they please, and the ones that are ghosts are the exceptions to that for some reason? I dunno...

Huh, it's amazing how similar Japanese and English fanfiction apparently are. I do hope more yuri goodness comes soon, though.

Awesome, I loved the first Bayonetta but don't have the WiiU for the second one. I think I have a bit of money left on my DS account so I should be able to buy her just with that.

Bayonetta is the most fun I've ever had with a Spectacle Fighter. Really recommend playing them, Platinum Games knows what they're doing.

Ok, I think I'll get it. I only have a Wii U but apparently the second game comes with a port for the first, which is nice of course.

So, uh, Bayonetta got announced for Smash. Yay! I've actually never played any Bayonetta games, but I've heard they're quite good. And sexy, apparently, which is why people were surprised she got in. So has anyone played them?
