Damn, i shouldn't have read this one. Now i wish i could read the next chapter. Thanks to that Sweet Little Devil thread bump, i discovered that i've only read that one from Nanzaki Iku and that i haven't anything else from her. Too bad i picked this one up and now i can't finish it ╥﹏╥
So, anyone watched that Hibike ending? If so, how much of a letdown for all the yuribaited fans was it?
It was neither het or yuri (unless people consider that Asuka x Kumiko yuri, which I don't).
Oh, so they went with the last minute pairing. I guess, now that i know how whole thing end and unfolds, i shouldn't even bother with S2

https://www.amazon.com/dp/1624592848Woah! That's great! 2017 truly is the year of yuri!
It really does looks like 2017 would be a good year for yuri related media.
The premise of a Tsundere being in love with another Tsundere is pretty good and it gives a perfect explanation as to why their relationship takes too long to actually start. I hope they continue to translate this chapters.
Sometimes we need a partypooper to ruin our fun and open our eyes to reality
No shit, though, some people here, if they are actually successful in life, might try to imitate.
Reality to what? Its called a fantasy for a reason.
I didn't understand the second part of your post though, so sorry for not being able to answer properly.

Leave it to this forum to kill one of my fantasies by talking about yeast infections.
lol I thought the same thing
The premise for the drama in this is too far-fetched even for me. And I have a child's knowledge of medical science.
They live in a world where mechanical hearts are a thing that have smartphone like batteries and the heart even tells you the percentage of the battery, i wouldn't really try to look that much into the "realism" of this one a lot. Besides, they explain later why she needed to gave her heart away instead of just letting her take the mechanical one.

Cute but we need more work with this series!!
Now that one was nice. I didn't take the time to look up kanji or words I didn't immediately recognize, but I still got enough out of it. I mean Nanao actually, (real spoiler) right after graduation, voluntarily came out in front of her friends about her and Matsumoto-sensei. And it provoked Abi and Kiiko coming out too! And there's another couple in the background!
I hope somebody picks this short extra up soon. I suppose if nobody else does, I'll get to it myself eventually, but who knows when?
Yeah, hopefully someone pick this one up soon. I love this series a lot.
Its nice to see the girl who was in love with Nanao finally got someone as well. They only hinted that the girl with the ponytail had a thing for her, but they never showed any sort of development, so i hope theres an extra focusing only on those 2 characters.
LOVE WOULD KILL THOSE GIRLS!!!
The art style is amazing, i enjoyed every page of this one a lot.
What a bizarre afterword. It's bad, but also weird following a fluff doujin that even timeskips to post-highschool. Plus the tone of the afterward itself: "It'd be nice...!" ???
Yeah, it is bizarre. My first time reading it, I took it at face value. But after seeing other reactions and re-reading it, I'm no longer sure how to feel about it.
I read your edit. I feel that the author was specifically talking about KumiRei's relationship. The author probably read how the writer of the LN says that the things Kumiko and Reina did were just a phase and that they were always straight. Thats just how i saw that afterword, because i can't believe the author actually thinks that of every girl-girl relationship after writing so many yuri stories over the years.

This is how Nanashi no Asterism has to end.
I will bet against that prediction.
I will say that it's 75% gonna be open end/ ambiguous ending bs. And 25% it will be involve Kotooka. More likely with Tsukasa, but there is a chance of Washio.
Yeah, i'm with you in this one. The focus on Kotooka's character for the longest does make it looke like she's ending up with Tsukasa after some soul–searching and help from Washio, or she kinda gets what she wanted and their group never gets separated and none of them ends up with a girlfriend or boyfriend. I'm kinda expecting a "Who needs love when you have friends" type of ending tbh.
Oh my, what is this wonderful feeling? Is... is this how it feels to be in agreement with someone online? Surely it must be a Christmas miracle! ;)
Haha ikr? Its nice to find someone like that on forums for a change.
I didn't read the afterword until now and damn, I'm so disappointed with the mangaka. Is he serious? Did I misunderstood what he said? I read so many Nanofate doujins from him, damn, I can't believe that he considers the love between pairings as just a phase, a dark past for the characters.
I like to believe that he meant that these specific characters (KumiRei) would look back on their lives like that. It would be extremely weird if the author has those ideas after writing so many good yuri stories over the years, kinda sad too since all of those characters end up getting married to some random guy after the doujins are done. I mean, how could you even write cute yuri stuff if you think they're all just playing pretend?

Probably. That however does not make Kumiko x Reina any less fanfiction. Heck, 90% of the content on this site would probably fall under "she's still a young girl", making most of the romances depicted, while all cute and fluffy in theory, most likely very transitory in reality. To clarify I am not saying that gay love itself is transitory, but high school crushes certainly are. So really whoever Reina has "true" feelings for, any interpretation is probably as equally valid as any other.
Oh yeah, totally. I'm not arguing that KumiRei is the real deal or anything like that, i actually never expected anything from them after investigating a little bit about the source material, i'm arguing that people don't treat her affection for Taki the same way they do with her affection for Kumiko. They're both in the same boat, which is the "high school crush boat." Reina could easily meet someone else in college and all this talk about being the only one for Taki would become just another stupid thing she did as a kid, but since Taki is a young adult widower, she's "deeply" in love with him and he's not just a "highschool crush" for her.

"A phase" that has lasted for years, to be fair.
While she's still a young girl. What Taki thinks regarding Reina's feelings was the most spot on thing in that show, "It's just admiration for a teacher," which is exactly what they should say about her feelings for him. If Taki was a female teacher, people would instantly call it exactly that.
Hibike! Euphonium was the most blatantly queer-baiting show for two seasons, so I'm honestly a bit surprised at the people who were surprised/disappointed by it! At least they were (to my eyes) upfront about it by making it clear that Reina was deeply and passionately in love with Taki-sensei. There is a meaningful yuri narrative that could spring from this, but I didn't think this show ever demonstrated an interest in such.
You know whats funny about this whole "love" she feels for Taki? That the same thing people used to describe her relationship with Kumiko (Its just a phase and whatnot), could be said about falling in love with a teacher, but since the teacher is a guy, this one is the real deal.
She is not thinking about what her friends might feel about the whole situation
This and
she's thinking what society would think of her and her friends.
are not mutually exclusive to the betterment of her friend's lives.
You clearly haven't grown up in confucian society and/or culture. What other people think of you matters. Alot. It is absolutely irrelevant if they're hurting anyone else. And the regards of general society to the characters in this manga also matter alot.
The author is clearly showing how stupid and unnecesary it is to worry so much about what other people think since opening up with those close to you clears tons of fucking confusion. Thats why Washio and Tsukasa got closer to each other, thats why Asakura and Subaru became friends and thats why Kotooka is slowly drifting apart from those she cares about.
Which is why Asakura hides his sentai-show hobby.
Not really comparable to lesbian relationships though. And thats common behavior from a kid his age, since its around that age that they think liking stuff they used to like as kids is lame.
Why Tsukasa is ashamed of her brother.
Tsukasa isn't ashamed of him, she's afraid that other people might see that as something weird and might ridicule him for it.
Why nobody talks about their personal issues with their immediate friends. But instead try to maneuver around each other.
Thats just because they're fucking dumb. But Asakura and Washio did open up to their friends and, like i said before, got actually closer to them thanks to that.
And also why Kotooka is trying to get her friends to go straight.
The only character who's actually doing shitty stuff for the sake of society and not her friends sake.
Arguing that "other people's opinions don't matter" while the actions and motivations of the entire cast are guided by cultural customs and dictates of social normality is asinine. Blithely letting your friends "do whatever their emotions tell them to want" is not only irresponsible and immature, but also hilariously stupid in this context.
Yeah, because kids need to be mature and highly responsible at that age. Fuck enjoying life and doing what they like, society wants them to drain their lives from that nonsense.
Kotooka is one hundred and ten percent mismanaging the situation, but I absolutely see where she's coming from. If she were trying this with a dash more delicacy and a shitton more competence, I would be rooting for her.
I see where she's coming from too, that doesn't mean she's doing the right thing or the best thing for her friends either. It just means that she's been burned before and doesn't want to get burned again.
Wait, in which universe is she prioritizing herself over her friends? She's hollowing herself out emotionally to try to nudge them into what's considered socially normal; which is super important in any Confucian society. There's a difference between what you can have and what society considers acceptable for you to have, Kotooka is apparently the only one to consider this in her group. This honestly makes her more mature than her peers, at least until we get a POV from Washio.
How is forcing people you care about into doing stuff they clearly don't want to do not selfish? She is not thinking about what her friends might feel about the whole situation, she's thinking what society would think of her and her friends. You shouldn't worry what others think about you, especially if you're not hurting others or yourself and you're happy. Denying someone you said you care about from that happiness is the most selfish act i can think of, doesn't matter if the intention is good.
To be honest, probably.
For me her intention's about as good as it gets, minus the bit of bitterness on the side and who can blame her. The only thing that can possibly be criticized is how sloppily she's handling it and I give it a pass. Mainly because she's a teenager dealing with garbage people twice her age still don't have a handle on.
I don't think she would be doing the stuff as forcefully as she is right now if Tsukasa was into her instead of Washio. I think she would've been more subtle in her approach and less open about her boyfriends since that would hurt the person she loves.
^^^ Pretty much.
Ah well, I think we'll be back to AyaYuri next chap. So far they've had no chapters in even-numbered volumes (2 and 4), but I don't see Canno introducing a new couple in the middle of this volume…
Back to the chap, I find it pretty sweet how Chiharu is actually the one who badly needs someone by her side. Or rather, it seems like she needs someone to take care of, and be the boke to her tsukkomi. In that sense, Izumi fills a similar role as Maya to her − although a bit dumber.
I think the girl who liked Izumi might get some development in the future, don't know if Canno is pairing her up with a new girl or an existing one, but i think we might see a new couple again. Don't think we will see that before any AyaYuri development though, it has been a while since we last saw them so it would be good to see something from them as well.
Back to the chap, I feel like she feels so much better when she feels needed in a way that the other person would be lost if she doesn't help them and Izumi is pretty much fucked if she didn't had Chiharu for her. Even though Maya liked her, she never needed her in that way.
Well, first, yuri-wise, there is no kiss between Finé and Izetta (unless you count this scene). Some might argue that it wasn't even needed, considering they're pretty much acknowledged as a couple, but still, it's annoying. And more generally, the ending felt rushed and pretty messy, with a certain character pulling victories out of his ass and another one being painfully underdevelopped. It should have been a 25 episode series, really. It just reeks of wasted potential after its first episode.
Oh, i see. So theres not even a chance for a season 2 to expand upon that relationship?
Anyways, i'd still watch it since it seems that it doesn't end on a really bad note.
It's strange, it was a rather long chap, yet I felt like not much happened… Even though it did, since it's a rather important chap in Chiharu's development.
Still, that was sweet as hell − and fixed my grumpy mood after Izetta's ending. Also is it me, or is Canno's artstyle becoming somewhat more… cinematographic, so to speak?
Wait, what happened in Izetta that got you grumpy? I still haven't watched, but i was planning in doing it once it ended, but if it ends in a bad way i might not do it.
More seriously, the series' description on Dynasty needs to be revised. It's clear by now that there is no such thing as a "main couple" in this series. Canno just does whatever she wants.
That's also why AnoKiss probably wouldn't work in anime − or if it has one, it should be either separate OVAs (one per couple) or out-of-order episodes like Haruhi.
I think thats one of the reasons i like AnoKiss so much. In some series not a single side couple gets developed or it does, its all rushed or off-camera. In here all of the "side couples" get a chance to shine on the spotlight. I think an anime of it could work as a series of short stories, kinda like Death Parade where in every episode theres new characters and the "Main" characters are just there in the background.
No, it's different, at least for me she gets pissed because even if they feel the same way... he is a man, something that Kotooka no matter what can not be, so seeing him in the same position, with feelings of love but saying "nah, it's cool" piss her off, damn I would've be pissed too because she wants to be in his shoes and take the chance but she has fears and doubts because of society, the feelings of Washio and whatnot. That doesn't make her insane like some people say ._.
Some of you seem to want the fluffy yuri, the kiss and happy ending but Kootoka (that knows the secret of everyone except Subaru because it doesn't matter) knows very well that at least one will get hurt pretty bad, in top of that is one of her friends who will surfer and on top of that even if she gets love, there's that fear that it won't last because the obvious reasons.
Not only I would be frustrated, I will get fucking pissed and sad... You guys might have better ideas or a course of action to deal with a lesbian love triangle between friends, and one without the "fuck society and the future!!" I hope, but of course in an spectator point of view, with cool mind and without fear or attachments, it's easy.
Maybe later we will see Washio or Tsukasa getting mad and saying "What gives you the right to decide that for us?!" and you know, that will piss me off.
This is a very good post, even though i slightly disagree with you in some stuff, it really describes Kotooka's character perfectly. Anyways, i don't think Kotooka is insane like some people suggest, i think she is just a really selfish person.
I get her motivations and why she does all the things she does, i really do, but has she ever stopped and think how would her actions affect her friends she loves so much? She is not thinking about whats best for her friends at all, she is thinking about whats best for her. For example, she clearly knows Tsukasa is not interested in Asakura, yet she's still trying to force them into a relationship because she says she would hate if she gets with Washio. Would she still act the same way if Tsukasa was interested in her?
Is this series comparable now to "Feelings We All Must Endure?" Just a thought. Or maybe to some of Takemiya Jin's universes. It seems now like a cross between FWAME and Comprehensive Tovarisch.
How is it comparable to Feelings We All Must Endure?
lol who are they again?
The main couple a.k.a. the most boring couple so far.

Although Mimika's reaction to that last question should be 'fuck yes!' If it's anything else, she's lying to herself
That's the thing, though. Mimika isn't really in love with children, just Yuzu specifically. That being said, Yuzu is a child. This really comes down to personal interpretation, and it should definitely be noted that Mimika fell in love with Yuzu based, evidently, on appearance alone. It's tough to call. The fact that Mimika feels as shitty as she does over it is another layer, since it indicates she's definitely not predatory about her preference, and thus not nearly as creepy. I think? A lot of variables here.
You're right. I think Mimika doesn't exactly know if she is a lolicon or not, even though she might not be one, Yuzumori being a child who she fell for might confuse her into think that she is one.
I was actually afraid that Chiharu was still not over her senpai and that she would ditch Izumi to go out with her. Thank god Canno isn't like that.
This last chapter and Yuzumori's last chapter killed me with a sweetness overdose.
