I believe there're 3 forms of good; personal good, true good, and overhyped good.
Ergo Proxy was a case of "underrated"/underappreciated"/"hyped by a small few who treat it as a hidden masterpiece" - that turned out to be a disappointment to me.
I don't think super-detailed thoughts/reviews/opinions from someone who's taste you barely know are of much use, it will give you some insight, but not much for yourself. I am not attempting to disparage anyone here, btw.
The best thing you can do for anime recommendations is seek the opinions of those who share your same tastes, or those who's you know well enough to gauge the chances of you liking it. (does not only apply to anime ofc)
