I wouldn't call it an asspull. The swords' powers were introduced long before this, "Hollow" just should have known better than to let this one go.

I wonder if letting go of the sword, and by extension letting Shy take it, was Ai exerting influence over the fused form... or possibly Mai subconsciously wanting to be stopped.

This chapter... is the best chapter. The boys get their cute-but-belligerent moment. Prayer continues to channel the readers. Pilse reveals her superpower is literally "has gun." Non-stop entertainment.
