Actually when I went and skimmed through the older chaps to remind myself of who exactly Igarashi is it rather seemed like it was Chidori who'd broken things off for as-yet unspecified reasons.

Beginning of Chapter 22, long-haired Chidori vows to “Never fall in love again.” In the course of the chapter she recalls the pain of a relationship and says, “I have to end this,” and gives the “not friendship” chocolates back to Igarashi.

So technically Igarashi might night have been the person who hurt her previously and is just now making her move with the candy.

But I doubt it.

A possible scenario but, as you say, deeply unlikely. Not quite sure what brought this speculation on though?

^ Never were. Hell - Nemo was the first person in the class to proactively befriend her. (That event arguably marked the series' transformation from cringe comedy into an optimistic, and rather gay, growth story.) They certainly do a fair bit of back-and-forth snarking but that files under "casual horseplay between friends."

But it does in no way automagically follow from her somewhat vague but distinctly erotically charged fantasizing the night before that she'd have full-on PG-18 wet dreams afterwards (I get the impression she's altogether too vague on the nitty-gritty of the whole business for her subconsciousness to have much to work with there anyway); "dream logic" is proverbial for a reason.
