I don't really like the "I used to live in America, so I'm fine with kissing my friends," thing. It's just such a cliche excuse, and not very accurate to boot. That kind of stuff is just not common.

Am I the only one going to say it? This manga is horseshit without any yuri. The only positive thing about this manga is the art.

It's all subtext and intrigue masked by fluffy stretching and whatnot. Technically there isn't any yuri at all (you need some yuri goggles to see it, albeit cheap ones). I think it's something really interesting even without the great art, though the quality and subtle detail seriously help pull it all together.

Rushed is certainly an understatement. I feel like there could have been a lot of potential, but their powers and stuff were seriously too amped up from the start. There wasn't enough space to build up any kind of emotional investment on the part of the reader. It's more like reading an abridged version of something like those long running series like one piece, naruto, etc. with the entire middle section cut out... Too bad... (but at least we have our imagination to try to fill in the blank areas)

If you go to the release post on Yuri-ism (where you can get their releases much earlier than waiting here) it says:

"For those unaware, Secret Flowers 6 has been delayed repeatedly, spanning 2 Comikets and multiple events in between. There is currently no planned release for it, but Goyac says he will try for some event in March. Though I’m sure something will happen and his computer, tablet or both will break again. I think it's the same as what happened to her in the otome anime. I don't quite remember the timeline for it, but I do know she disappeared for a while because she got scared of being appointed as one of the columns or something. She ran away then got lost and trapped in some remote place with Mikoto./

Chapter six looks pretty rushed... I don't feel I have the skill/time to be a real good translator, but even I could tell stuff was off.

I thought it was pretty okay except for the final 4koma. I happened to see the /a/ thread where the scans were being edited and it seems like the translator totally missed the context of the background dialogue (the "royalty" stuff is probably a reference to the earlier "beach queens" scene). But yeah, the way it currently is is definitely jarring.

My biggest issue is the parts where I don't think the meaning got conveyed right, like the joke on the left of page three: here we have Yuzu saying "Beach ball", "It's like a beach" and the punchline "That's why I'm saying it's like a beach!" But the original has the same words for panels 2 and 3, something like "Do that at the beach", and the final one making the joke "That's why I'm saying do that at the beach!" Or so. Really I just think they made it less funny by getting the translation off.

It took me a moment to process that that wasn't the letter "o" but a censor circle...

Yeah I fixed it I meant to say Nadeshiko >.> I don't know if it was an actual chapter but it was definitely in the anime.

I thought so too. I remember the chapter where Megumi gets a called when Himawari was visiting and they were being all lovey dovey on the phone. I hope it's Megumi but I'm like 99% sure!

The stuff they've been signing in the story, were there any gestures that were similar (similar gesture, similar meaning) to the sign language you know (American, Chinese sign language/whatever sign language is used in your country, or was it totally different (for example as different as Japanese Spoken is to English Spoken)?

What I know is American Sign Language, which's pretty different from Japanese Sign language. But I still recognized the signs in the manga as clearly sign language, if sign language in a foreign language. There seem to be certain universal elements, like the general kinds of handshapes people'll be making--gestural stuff using easy to make finger shapes. Some of those handshapes're ones ASL use, but in different ways and for different words. Overall, I'm fairly certain that was actual JSL in the manga.

to tell the truth i always thought that sign language was universal...like a drawing.... good that i always learn something new everyday :D

I was told by a friend who was taking sign language that there is a kind of "general" or "universal" sign language that people can use aside from the ones that coincide with national languages like ASL or JSL. The way she described it made me think it was a bit more like standardized charades though, but that's just the way I interpreted her second hand information.

Actually she (allegedly) overheard Megumi talking to a coworker on the phone.
Either way, this has definitely given Megumi a ton of points in the speculation pool.
