FYI there's a second translation on Mangadex. That one uses "Raising Heart". I haven't looked closely for other differences.

For any keen-eyed readers: the original Japanese used both 'Zed' and 'Zeo', that's not a translator error.

That feels like an alternate universe from the main series. At least there's Nanoha and hopefully, Fate won't be long to join, but yeah, that first chapter feels kinda out of place, somehow. Very little exposition as to what's going on and why a 13yo Nanoha is actually working for some military force.

We are forgettin that she is a 13 year old working!

Nanoha has been working off and on for the Bureau since she was 9, in the main series. 'Contractor' through A's I guess, but StrikerS had that backstory of her working too hard by Vita's side and getting crippled by a Gadget Drone... at age 12. How this was to be balanced with her also going to school in Japan was never expanded on, because let's face it, the franchise tends to be very bad at details like that.

So in itself, I'm not sure there's anything in this chapter that makes it obvious we're in the Reflection timeline. What bugged me was all this "United Nations" stuff. But I think the TSAB personnel are co-operating with the UN of this particular planet, and thus labeled with its authority. Like some years before making RF6, she'd made this "Exceeds" group locally. But like, was the Bureau even mentioned in this chapter?

This chapter is in the past right?

Yeah. Per my notes https://dynasty-scans.com/forum/posts/875010 Youji has longer hair when Youzi is 6 than when Youzi is 14. And there's the "hard to believe you're already a mom" line.

I know of a translation that did like 3 chapters.

Dropped? I thought the novel was simply completed. Unless you mean the fan translations? I think Shuukura translation is still happening slowly but the translator has gotten busy.

Fuck me, literally first time ever Kodama Naoko actually starts fleshing out a plot and then this happens

And honestly it makes no sense, it should end with both going their separate ways: Blondie returning to her loveless, but socially aceptable, marriage and brunette moving on with her life, I mean that's realistic and human after all

The first part doesn't make sense. Gotou was obviously tired of such a life and seeking to move on. That brunette was still available for her later, well. Story.

Clerkgirl could be one of the rare Christian Japanese people, or otherwise not wanting abortion.

220k a month that's like $24,000 a year

That's 2.64M yen or $18,500 USD a year

You're using exchange rate; I was using an approximation of PPP, which is more relevant (rent doesn't become more expensive just because the yen falls against the dollar, ditto domestically provided services like childcare or healthcare); officially the PPP is 94 yen per dollar, I used 100 because I'm lazy and it's close enough.

(lazy indeed: Y220k / 100 -> $2000/month, *12 for 24,000/year. More accurately, it could be as high as $28,000/year in PPP. It helps that you can find cheaper rent in Japan than in similar-ish US cities today, while spending little on transportation or health care.)

Blue Star has a bunch of intriguing side characters, but they don't get camera focus the same way. Anemone in Heat does have side focus.

Seriously I thought the professor really looks like our MC, or is it the same person???

Mom?

So, this Professor 10 years ago looks almost exactly like the Su (MC) of today...

Why would you assume there was one? I'm only speaking about what seemed to be the case based on what we as readers saw of this character.

I mean, I don't see why someone would read Ch 1 and figure that SEN was most likely a 'he'.

Poor Sakuma/Ema/Naruse got turned down in three different ways from their perspective

Turned down how? Houjou had other commitments, which SEN absolutely knows, because SEN was the other commitments. 'Sakuma' was the only one who had time, and alcohol + Houjou's ethics closed anything there that night.

It's honestly difficult to tell at this time, so for now I'll go with the same assumption as the first chapter until we know one way or other.

Where you see an assumption in the first chapter? MC meets Sakuma, Ema, Naruse, and Sakuma again.

He? The cross-dresser seems to be more female than not. I'd guess that 'Sakuma' is closest to the core identity, with Ema (dark hair girl) and Naruse (boy) as other personas.

I just wonder why people have such visceral reaction to exactly this doujin. Does it always happen or this manga is an outlier for some reason? I'm on this site for years, but honestly I didn't took much part in title or image discussions until recently.

If you haven't been participating in the community here, where do you get off making a scattershot accusation of the community being homophobic? That's very rude and arrogant of you.

And yes, I remember lots of complaints about cheating and 'NTR' in comments on other manga. I just wonder why you think people are reacting to exactly this doujin when you say you don't know what's been happening in discussions elsewhere.

Are you serious? "It's ecchi so just turn brain off"? People typically isn't into cucking

People "typically" aren't into yuri either, yet here we are, on a site full of people who like yuri.

Some people like NTR too.

idk what's the problem here, taking too many things on your plate and struggling with priorities is a really common thing to happen. And it was properly set up and everything too.

The forced drama is "Yamada made a promise, circumstances seem likely to get Yamada to break her promise, Kase will be disappointed, etc"

As I said, it is rather more natural than the previous forced drama of the race. Feel obliged (especially in Japan) to (a) your employer and (b) much older women is pretty plausible.

OTOH it's coming not long after the race BS, and the author made up the employment pressure to apparently insert more drama, so many of us are tired.

If Yamada learns from recent history and actually holds a line, we'll change our opinion, but right now it's "oh no, not again". Author burned up her credit with the race stuff.

I will grant that giving in to your elderly employer makes a lot more sense than giving in to your roommate on a stupid bet.

Oh no, not one of these plots. I didn't like it in Blue Star...

how do you forget the girl you've dated for years has siblings

Most of the story (and romance) is contained in the characters' inner thoughts

And half the time they're lying to themselves.
