An independent person posted a translated fourth chapter on Mangadex today. From there, a person in the original translation group (which abandoned this 9 months ago) posted, revealing the reason that it was abandoned was because Takemiya Jin included a relatively generic "do not reprint" message that usually only appears in Japanese text in English text as well. They interpreted this to indicate that Takemiya Jin did not want English fan translations available for her work.

Personally, I think that is a pretty big logic leap. It's not like Takemiya Jin is losing sales because of English fan-translations being available. The series is not licensed, so without the fan translation, it is literally unreadable for English fans.

I came to this thread with the same question. Seems like most of her stuff was in the 2010-2015 period, and that she hasn't published anything recently.

Edit: Ah, Itoshi Koishi is her latest series, derp. I'd actually read it multiple times before (the first three chapters anyway) and simply didn't realize it was her work. Now it makes sense why I liked that series so much.

Yuri crush is the most appropriate tag here. It didn't exist at the time this story was posted I think.

Was this really republished in Yuri Hime 15 years later? Is that an accident on their part or something?

I hope Dynasty Reader have a "good ending" and "bad ending" tag. So I know which one to skip. =_=

Sometimes I wish for it too, but they don't want to spoil every story before you read it. "Drama" and "Angst" are usually the best tells that the ending -could- be bad.

Wait does it really just end here? What happens next?

This is a serious cliffhanger.

Excellent. Need more.

Shion walking away at the end is obviously just because she thinks now that Nozomi has remembered and is sober and apologizing that they'll just go back to being normal friends, which she isn't happy about. They just need to sit down together and talk honestly without one of them getting up and running off after 2 minutes, lol.

Still a little concerned that Kuro said she just wants to be friends when confronted by Izumi a few chapters ago. The author has been signalling a Kurosawa + Nanaki relationship so hard that if they didn't end up together I would be pretty unhappy.

(It also seems like the author is setting up Izumi with Iroha. We see another example in this chapter where Iroha (and only Iroha) responds with a reaction to how cute/pretty Izumi is.)

wow this manga made a better unrequited love story in a few chapters than "my unrequited love" so far

Lmao

Omg this is so accurate what the hell

To be fair, that's a really really low bar.

I suspect Nagi just was forbidden to interact with her after the incident (I mean Chihiro is lucky that her parents didn't push the issue with the police or insurance or anything like that), and by the time she was able to escape her parents' leash, she was a teenager and not able to locate Chihiro easily. I bet she randomly came across something written by her (or maybe she intently searched for something written by her as a way to find her), and then was able to get more information by bribing publishers (this is where the stalking comes in).

I suggested some tag changes for Chapter 4 in particular; it was not what I was expecting and did not have a desirable emotional result.

people are saying haruki’s arc is resolved but to me it isn’t? aya didn’t even answer her feelings and they just laid in the bed naked.... anyway i could see haruki sending the photo she received to mochida for revenge or something. sei will get exposed at her job and drama ensues

I agree with you on Haruhi not being resolved. I really don’t like this chapter. I hate it a lot. Why did Aya strip? Just because Haruhi did? Aya and Sei is toxic but they obviously feel something for each other. Aya doesn’t feel anything sexual or romantic for Haruhi and its terrible to lead Haruhi on and Haruhi is going for a horrible heartbreak. I don’t think Haruhi will give Aya’s nudes out when she wants Aya all to herself.
I just hate the fact that Aya just went along and strip and be naked with her friend just because she asked her to...

That's extremely characteristic of Aya, though. She is the type of person who either won't say no or won't say it strongly enough. That's why Sei was able to draw her into a sexual relationship so quickly. Haruki established boundaries quickly and reciprocated (by getting naked as well), which is exactly how Sei handled it too.

People who hate NTR may be mad at me, but I would not be surprised if either Aya OR Sei ended up cheating on the other person.

I don't want to presume too much on the part of the author, but this seems like pretty blatant self-insert wish fulfillment. The MC without friends who most people would call a creepy otaku gets swept off her feet by a popular, energetic sports star who fell in love with her at first sight.

That said, the fact that I can recognize it as such indicates that both my scenario and my wish aren't all that far off, so maybe I don't have room to speculate.

We weren't sure at first how serious this was all gonna be given the first one, but I think it's reasonably time for a Drama tag.

Okay, love triangle blossoming, cool and all, but why is no one talking about what Honda said?

I know I found what she said pretty concerning and hope we go into more detail about it later.

I had to look back through the chapter to find out what you were talking about. I think you may mean the line where Honda says "if you hadn't come to get me, I wouldn't be here right now". This can be read as an implicit statement of suicidal intent. However, I really don't think that is what she was trying to say (and the translator can help clarify maybe). I think she meant "if you hadn't come to get me, I would still be in my room, not going to school".

Arabian Nights is about how Scheherazade tells a tale each night, with a cliffhanger to avoid being beheaded by the Sultan who wants the end of the tale.

After 1000 and 1 nights, she runs out of tales, but he had fallen in love with her

I don't quite understand how this manga is trying to put a twist on it.

The twist is that instead of avoiding execution, staying awake would result in lesbian sex, which is desired by both (?) parties in this case but the girl has the opposite problem of the Sultan and can't stay awake.

Maybe for a lucky few.

That was the last chapter?

It's an ongoing series, and we're caught up with releases. Unless the author says they aren't making anymore (which to my knowledge they haven't), then we will probably see more at some point in the future.

Based on the table of contents on page 2, it looks like there is a sequel to this as well.

This scan is definitely crisper than the previous one; that's the biggest improvement. I also like the translation slightly more, though the differences are admittedly fairly minor.

My question is: is this really mistagged or does real Yuri (romantic and/or sexual relationships between women) actually occur in this at some point in a future volume's main story (specials and extras don't count)?

There's plenty of romantic love going 'round.

Sexual stuff, not so much... although Chinatsu once described in all explicitness the H things she wanted to do to Yui... but most of the words in her lecture were censored, so we never found out the exact details.

Hmm, okay. Sounds good enough for me to give it another try then.

(Also minor self-correction: I meant manga, not anime, in my last post.)

So I read Volume 1 a while back and went "why is this comedy anime with very light subtext tagged as Yuri and not Subtext?" to myself and then stopped reading it.

I... think I liked the explosive, over the top feel of the original better. This is much closer to standard "cute girls doing cute things" fare.

What? That's basically the opposite of how you could define the series. So far this is a Yuri romance plot with both characters aware of it.

The original series was literally slice of life comedy CGDCT.

Personally I don't like comedy or CGDCT at all - I read these purely for the Yuri romance setups, confessions, and subsequent relationships. Obviously that means I'm quite pleased with the reboot myself so far.

I didn't even realize until the end notes that the phrase "I love you" was never used even once in this story. Apparently he didn't even use similar words except for the phrase "boys you like" in Chapter 4.

Instead of love, they usually called each other's names during intense bits.

She lies to her friends about what happens with the first guy, don't forget. She makes it sound like he rejected her when literally the opposite situation occurred.

This will be the first time she's rejected even considering to date somebody (she didn't give him a fair shot at the first restaurant either obviously and her friends could see that. It will likely strain her relationship with her friends substantially, especially if she fails to come up with a good lie for what she did.

Come to think of it; I wonder what excuse she used to escape the date in the first place. She probably said she felt sick or something like that. Her friends might buy that. She did just go to the bathroom and she was obviously acting oddly. It could work. The problem is that that excuse just kicks the issue down the road slightly since her friends will reschedule it for her.
