For real thou, I do wonder what's going to be of Tarumi later on, does she get her chance of confessing and being rejected so she can move on? is she going to have to keep it for herself? will she and Shima be able to stay as friends without a problem? and will Adachi and Tarumi ever get to know each other?

I have a feeling she's just going to end up being the foil to make Shimamura become aware of just what kind of distance she needs to keep between "girl friends" versus "girlfriends", or just as a catalyst to plot to drive Adachi to action. It's silly to think that Adachi will never meet her, or at least find out who she is, since clearly she has a THIRST about finding out Who That Girl Who Was With Shimamura At the Festival and it drove her to a freaking creeper-ass meltdown on the phone, lol...

Oh, the backstories are definitely not fun, lol... I've seen up to around chapter 11 translated and so far that hasn't revealed too much. I mean Kaede's is kinda obvious but her mistress' is not. But we're given some subtle hints, like how she refers to using her money, so I'm thinking whatever happened to her she's either being given financial restitution or her family is paying her off to be quiet about whatever it was.

My intention was merely to show that Minami has been on the receiving end of some unnecessary violence, and that one I put in there just to show that even if everything we the reader actively see happening is "in good fun", clearly Minami expects something bad so she's not just all "lol you hit me".

Not trying to argue so much as point out why I personally see things as kinda mean for Minami. I still think she and Iori have a nice chemistry, I just think Iori needs to be less punchy.

This is set in middle school.

I'm not sure what it's like for others but in my country's case (before K-12 happened), we don't have middle school and we go straight into highschool after 6th grade. Age 14-15 was Junior year in highschool for those who had a similar educational system.

I can't remember, is Anna "in middle school" as we in the US would interpret it, or is she a "freshman" as we would interpret it? The final/highest grade in Japanese middle school equates to US 9th grade, which is high school here, albeit the lowest grade. Not that it makes it any better being a 7th, 8th, or 9th grader.

Which is a shame because I really like the story otherwise. And I'm a sucker for piercings and tattoos on someone who is actually pretty mild and gentle with others, which doesn't help....

I don't normally mind slapstick too much, HOWEVER, I do not like it in this case because Minami was clearly in a very physically abusive environment, but Iori keeps hitting her. That is not okay with me.

I am one of those in the "at risk" groups and am living at ground zero in the US (near Seattle/Snohomish in Washington State). The panic here is palpable. I'm just glad I have plenty of toilet paper...
